if we put up anything like this next week look for the highest a-league score ever.

I was planning to take the family to Bluetongue for the GC game. Not anymore.

Wow....

If only there was a way to predict how the team would play before bothering going to the game... (please note sarcasm)

Seriously... how's about turning up and supporting the team?  No, that's just silly.

It's called the bandwagon. Fruitbat is demonstrating how to get off the bandwagon. I'm sure once we start winning a few, we will see people jumping back on. It's silly to expect these people to support the team through good AND bad!

ahh... thanks for the clarification adz.

hope these bandwagoner's get a nasty infection from the splinters they'll get from all the wagon hopping

To be fair, I'm sure its not just the Adelaide game that has caused this. Mariners have been shit since Jedi left and nothing has really been sorted out. Thats almost a year ago now with not too much indication that things are changing and although I will be attending the game I can't really blame people for not showing up!

I think its an overall representation of the people of the central coast. Where are the extra 10k that we had in v3. Its simple people aren't gonna waste money on a shit product where the beer is shitter. The same can be said forthis years Brisbanne Franchise and even back the Northern Eagles shamle where crowds were initially encouraging but everyone pissed off when the started losing.

Bagging someone becasue their not as passionate about the team as you or that they have other things to send their money on achieves nothing except for disillusionising them further, especially when the club could do with their hard earned peso.

we didn't have an extra 10k in 07/8. we had an extra 10k at some games in the holiday period and for a semi final. our crowd average for that season was 3k more than what it is so far this season, not 10k. at this stage of that season our crowds were pretty comparable. in the context of crowds being down across the league as a whole, that's not bad.

our performances are certainly not inspiring, our new signings aren't exotic, but we're creating enough chances and enough luck to be sitting in 4th place without once having played close to our potential.

if people are going to whinge and piss and moan and jump off the wagon simply because we're not unbeaten at the top of the league playing fantasy football with a team chock full of brazilians then they can never be satisfied. there's not a lot more that can be asked for here.

Are you sure about that??? I'm not sure if we are creating aything at all. More credit needs to go to the defence imo

I think he means creating enough chances to win, which we have. We should have won the Sydney game. Despite the fact we lost against Adelaide, it was only a good free kick that Danny misjudged that was the difference in the end. Our defence is creating our chances for us, but not letting the opposition score. See what happens when we score first, because of our brick wall. We easily outplayed Melbourne, and aside from the defensive errors by both sides, we outplayed Perth as well. It's when the opposition scores first, and we are chasing the goal, that things become unstuck for us.

we *are* sitting 4th, so yes, I'd say we're creating exactly enough chances to sit in 4th.

Dibo, I have never expected the mariners to be unbeaten, nor playing fantasy football played by Brazillians. I have hoped that they would be competitive.

Last season we werent competitive in the league and were then embarrassed in Asia.
As for this season, its too early to point to the table as evidence of our success. But since you do, consider that we are 4th on goal difference with several other clubs. I believe we're on 8 points and the Fury (last possie) on 5. Let's not gild the lilly too much.

Don't let the fact we have the best defence in the league spoil your pessimism.

and we're only 5 points behind the lead (but they're a game clear on everyone) and 2 points behind 2nd. win this week and we *could* be level at the top.

let's not bury them before they're dead.

How can you be level at the top after 1 win when your 5 behind? Am i missing something?

no, that's me getting distracted mid-post and being a goofball.

Wow.........that was dreadful stuff.

I new we would lose as soon as I saw the team.  No balance and 2 dodgy defenders in the back 4.

Everyone was rank apart from Travis and Wilko.  Boogs & Pedj were passable. Hutcho ok.

The rest were pathetic.

Management was shambolic!

What a contrast with last night's game against CG!

I predicted a bloodbath against CG and I'll happily eat crow if they continue to get it right. They played like a different team last night (maybe Travis, Doig and McGlinchy had something to do with that) but they were inspired, not panicked.
The passing was spot on-it wasnt unusual to count 7 or consecutive 8 passes. Passing out from defence was especially good instead of the predictable 2-3 passes before flogging it up the field. They really cherished possession last night and it made a difference.
Travis & Mcglinchey were fantastic.
Defenders ditto. Smeltz & Culina effectively neutralised and frustrated.
Vukovic always a great player.
Mrdja still has plenty of work to do.
