Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

It may be because that is a model of what the finished project is to look like as alot more then a stadium is being built ;)

I think moving from Gosford would be a really bad idea. From experience with Adelaide and Hindmarsh, having games in the centre of the city/region draws far greater crowds compared to having them outside of the city. Hindmarsh is an absolute wank to try and get to, yet Adelaide Oval is smack-bang in the middle of the city and everyone caught public transport and walked, avoiding the parking fiasco which envelops the Hindmarsh region every second weekend. The result was 20k+ compare to the 10k-or-so average for a normal home game.

Gosford was perfect for both opposing fans (many of whom stayed in Sydney and caught the train) as well as locals, given a lot of the Coast is spread north-south along the train line route. Moving to Tuggerah or wherever would be a tad silly, in my opinion. Having our training facilities and everything out there is fine, but moving games would not be a net benefit IMO.

good post

Good post.  Be like going to Liverpool and coming out of the ground and finding your car up on bricks with the wheels missing. Not a bad place to shop (Dan Murphy's) but I don't want to park me car there for 2 hours!!

If its moved to Tuggerah, public transport would be just as good and parking would be better. Gosford is not the geographical centre of the Central Coast either; it would be further North towards Tuggerah. I can't see any similarity in the Adelaide comparison. Notwithstanding, I _can_ see the attraction in having it in the middle of a large population centre like Gosford; just don't think the above arguments are valid.

In 10 years they expect more people in wyong shire than gosford. So southern wyong shire would be best bet

Don't forget there is still a lot of Northern Spirit folk around I can recall in Hal 3 I think someone did a poll and just over 26% of the crowd come from Sydney.. Also for travelling Choppers Gosford is closer even if its close it is a mind thing.

While we're talking about hypotheticals, remember the state government's gosford development plan (which is essentially supported on all sides at state level as an urban renewal anbd development project as far as i am aware). while there may be more residents in wyong shire, there will be far greater business density in gosford, not to mention more entertainment and cultural stuff there.

nevertheless, if we're talking about a new stadium, space is a massive issue. taking into account ease off access, parking and whatnot (including coach parking and all that) the present site is basically too small for a stadium of any greater capacity than at present. you could *improve* the present stadium but not really make it any bigger. on the tuggerah site you could fit a much bigger stadium, and frankly i hope they leave the options open around the boutique stadium for expansion here and there, so taht if somewhere down the track a 40k stadium on that site seems a goer then they can do it without demolishing half the complex.

Not a hypothetical, but a real plan......I was told yesterday that there is a development plan currently before Wyong Council to improve/develop the current Tuggerah car Parking Station and Bus Interchange, located on the eastern side of the station - close to where the Mariners Centre of Excellence is going to be built. Don't know the details, it may be just a resurfacing or tidy up job instead of complete re development...

. ok i'll assume it was actually a serious question .....

. kiss and ride is a short-term parking stopping bay which allows rail commuters to be dropped off to 'ride' the train - if they have been behaving in the lead up they may also get a farewell kiss
