Whatever a coach’s resume says, references say, win/loss record says is important in the decision making but like hiring a new employee, until he/she hits the production line and demonstrates their worth it’s a gamble. We can all be confident that lots of due diligence was undertaken by CCM, however, we have no real idea what this coach will be able to do with this group of players until the season begins. Filling Monty and Serge’s shoes is an enormous task and we should back the new coach to do a good job but temper our expectations given the players we’ve lost. A top 6 finish will be a good effort in my view. Any more a bonus, any less (depending how bad) may require a re-think on the coaching front but I’m sure we want to avoid the merry-go-round of a new coach every season or two…

Getting the dynamics correct between the gaffer & assistant is paramount.

EG: A Jean-Paul de Marigny type is forever white-anting. Too risky.

The head coach also has to feel comfortable by other staff who posses superior football knowledge.

EG: A Paul Okon type will be threatened by aspirations held by others, which reflect his own insecurities.

Sounds like he might be bringing in his own assistant; at the moment Andres is acting as assistant.

Glad it looks like he's bringing in his own assistant. Don't understand a gaffer taking a job where their assistant is set for them. Doesn't make sense. They need to have someone they trust to do things exactly as they want and know they fit the plan they have in mind.

I spoke with Benny, he said leaving Melbourne was tough after what he had started there.

But living there has also been tougher than expected.
He has a good relationship with people at Brisbane Roar so he's taking on their Technical Director of the academy.

With his second being born recently, he needs to be at home.
Hopefully he can climb the ranks and secure a full time A-league gig there.

He said he's also extremely grateful foe all the people who have backed him and wanted him here.

I thought roar pulled the pin on the academy.
