Even with a long ban I would want him to keep training with us over that time and have Crawley working with him to keep his goal keeping sharp and he could possibly help Trott or Redmayne from behind the scenes

Is Redmayne any good?

from what I hear he is good. We should give him half the pre-season and Trott the other half if Danny is out

firstly . they would have to use the joel griffiths punchin the linesman down low as some sort of precedence.  secondly . danny only hit his hand did not punch the ref or anythin like that. if he gets a lengthy suspension i reckon that is rubbish . yes , trying to beobjective what he did wasnt the right thing but we were robbed of a penalty in a grandfinal so think of the emotions etc .  and if griffiths didnt get anything danny definatly should not.  and in reply to the post above,  redmayne is rubbish . if danny is gone we have to buy a keeper in the off season

According to Fox news, a contrite statement of apology will result in 5 or 6 games ban and a years ban suspended.

Can you remember how long DiCanio got suspended when he pushed the ref at Shefield Wed.?

6 months if I recall.

Danny shouldn't get anything - he totally was high fiving Shields for having such a great game!!!

I think the punishment should fit the crime.

Shields and his assistant should be banned for 12 months, and be ordered to an eye surgeon to correct their shocking eyesight.

It was a dumb, dumb thing to do. I think Griffo's sack whack will actually help Danny. Let's face it: if they wanted to take it further, they could have overruled on Griffo and banned him for longer. The FFA make their own rules, they could have found a way. Instead, they hid behind the yellow card thing.

Now they are faced with contradicting themselves to the extreme and bringing much worse shit on themselves if they rub Danny out after letting JG off. My instinct is that they will make this go away too. In saying that, you just can't touch an official.

I hope Shield gets what is coming to him as well. For f**king up a pretty easy decision that could have determined who would be Champions, he should be busted for a good number of matches.

My money is on the FFA contradicting themselves, Danny should have just punched him in the nuts after all the precedent has been set as a Yellow.

I think the ban only applies to domestic games. Usually, a player who is suspended for his club side is available for internationals (and vice versa).

When Breeze wrongly sent him off and he was banned for 2 games, he would have been available for the U23's.

in the situation where the ban is a competition ban (as in the A-League suspending him for 6 weeks), it applies only to that competition.

where it is a 'football' ban (as in the association banning the player from all football) it applies worldwide in all FIFA and affiliated association and confederation competitions.

I am afraid that the Griffiths episode will make it worse. They got heaps for taking no action then, they will be forced to this time. They will use the yellow card and their hands being tied as the excuse for their inconsistency.

They must come down hard or it will be open season on refs at all levels.

The question is how hard to come down in order that justice "for all" is seen to be done. I do not think that they have that sort of wisdom.

Thanks.
That makes sense.
Could they just possibly make a 1 year ban from just A-league (ie. a 21 match ban)?
What is the maximum no. of matches some1 can be banned from (i know it can be unlimited years bans for football but I want to know for A-league- 5 and 6 games is being touted around)
thanx

im guessing that sash can't get in trouble much the same way that griffiths got let off but if you check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wBl2gsSKTk

he clearly "high fives" shield first yet cos he doesnt do it and run off saying a few words too, doesnt even get noticed by the ref...good bloody consistency there

that said, if u ever watch chelsea or manu games they remonstrate much more with the ref and get nothing and that is disputably the best league in the world...clearly you cant touch officials and are ment to take their decisons whether good or bad but it just seems that a-league refereeing is too inconsistent and noone is prepared to make a big call in an important game (ie handball penalty) yet the minute they are questioned over it wham out comes the book and cards galore

but still u clearly cant condone dany's behaviour and i guess he will now have to cop whatever he gets and build for the future...my gut instinct says the FFA will throw the book at him (due to griffiths blunder midseason) and give him the minimum year or at very best give him a shorter sentence that also includes a suspended sentence for any further misdemeanors (although i guess this cant be done cos surely another incident like this would signal life ban?)

i dunno what sort of ban (competition/football) he is facing but i'd have to say it looks like Beijing is a big doubt

p.s do preseason cup games count towards the ban??? if we get through to the final of that his actual A-league ban could be reduced couldn't it??? lol im just throwing up possibilities in hope cos i really cant see the mariners without our number 20 in goals...no ofence to redmayne or trotty but they just aren't at vukovic's level

PDC got an eleven match ban - 3 for the send off and 8 for the push and in that case the ref was pushed over so a 1 year ban would seem very harsh on Danny. However 11 games would be nearly half a season in the HAL. Although in his autobiography PDC says that he thinks that he should have only got for the push!

What Danny did was wrong, but nowhere near as bad as the sack-whacker.

It was also only marginally worse than Sasho's and Mile's contact with the ref just before it - which were ignored. Such a tiny difference and they go un-noticed while there's talk of serious bans for Danny?

Then the sack-whack just throws everything way out of proportion.

i think all this shit about danni maybe having a life ban is all bull. the reason that he went off is because of the ref. why does he hav to be punished for his shit referee'in. I know that danni shouldn't of done what he did but is was the heat of the moment!!!!!  i hope shields gets whats come'in 2 him

WHY DO ALL THE REFS PICK ON US SERIOUSLY!!!!
