cant help but wonder if the delay is because the FFA is trying to discourage him from appealing again.

Tin hat ahoy!

I think the delay is because the Football F*ckwits of Australia have painted themselves into a corner.....and don't know how to get out.  As has already been said, all of the other codes have dealt with weekend misdemeanours quickly....and some might argue leniently (7 weeks for Barry Hall - AFL _ and 6 weeks for Michael Weyen - NRL) both of them committed far worse misdemeanours than Danny yet the codes and the public seem happy with the sentence.  if FFA continue to impose such a huge ban on Danny it makes them even more of a laughing stock....but if they back down then they are admitting they got it wrong in teh first place.....perhaps they want to put some distance between the AFL/NRL sentences before handing out their own.  One things for sure....they have no concept of the punishment fitting the crime.

The problem I see in the future with the severity of the ban is that incidents much worse than this will occur. This means future bannings will have to be for years up to life....  Why such a severe ban compared to any other code or any other sport has been imposed has me baffled.

Back out now and save face guys, reduce the ban and move on.

Once you execute someone......

Unless the FFA are actually looking for media coverage, I would have thought that it would have been good to announce Danny's sentence before now whilst the media is focused on Barry Hall's king hit. They probably could have gotten away with changing the sentence dramatically without it being the major headline.

As it stands, it likes like they will announce it when there is no other news so it will get a lot of coverage. That is, unless the AFL and NRL players have another shocker this weekend. I suppose theres a good chance of that LOL.

George Negus didnt miss the FFA over the length of Danny's ban on TF last night.

Denial of natural justice he called it
Yeh, he did give the FFA a serve over Danny. In fact all three commentators did which was good to hear.

Negus also gave Kosmina a serve; something to the effect of "Kosmina never makes a mistake, just ask him". :-D

Negus was like a breath of fresh air compared to that twat Slater. TF would become a much better show if they could get him full time.

Knows the game, hates the other codes (his descrition of that silly game they play in Victoria was a hoot).

As to Danny, the FFA failed the basic lesson of life. When you f**k up, admit it fast. The longer you stick to your guns you just look stupid and imature.

Is it really a worse offence to punch a player than to slap a referee - I'm sorry but if you so much as touch a referee you're an idiot, the FFA can do as they please because Vukovic IS guilty, and we all know they don't care if they're inconsistant or not.

I hope they weren't waiting on the outcome of the Nick D'Arcy case.  He's been expelled from the national team.

I just read that...

It's not looking good.... But did the ref require surgery like the other swimmer? Or was Danny drunk and stuff? I dunno. 2 completley differant circumstances, but yeah...I suppose they'll just follow suit and be total f**kheads like the FFA usually is....

The FFA is shooting themselfs in the foot by suspending the best young keeper going round, thats what I dont understand

he broke the rules and they're applying them, it's cut and dried. if c**tface were in the same boat we'd give short thrift to jets supporters playing that card.

oh, wait... :(

nevertheless, f**kwittery in officialdom shouldn't be tolerated any more than f**kwittery on the field, and i'm afraid that the FFA's only sensible course of action is to apply a suspension of some sort.

if they don't, the question will be inevitable - when are they going to enforce the rules to protect officials? danny's and c**tface's actions were both unacceptable and deserve punishment. what shape the final suspension takes is anybody's guess, and it's been discussed a gazillion times so i'm not going to bore people.

that it's likely to cost danny the olympics is tragic, but still not enough reason to simply ignore the FFA's rulebook. if we do, we might as well declare open season on officials. politically, the FFA would be wise to announce some sort of more public review and assessment process that rewards and promotes good officials (and by extension gives a swift kickt to the swingers of breeze and his ilk).

Sorry dibo, I meant to add "for so long" after "the best young keeper going round".

Refs are volunteers not full time peoples.

They ref in the notion that the players wont hit them

volunteers???????

what warped universe do you live in?

a-league referees get a good four-figure sum for doing the centre

they are paid employees of the FFA

i know if my work performance was poor consistently i would be out on my arse pretty quick

It seems that every person in the world EXCEPT A-LEAGUE REFS is in that boat Mick, rather the opposite, they get rewarded for poor performance

unfortunately in this regard the FFA's rule is pretty clear - 12mths to life.

Volunteers or paid employees... DON'T TOUCH THE REF!

Does anyone here dispute the fact that Danny needs to be punished? I doubt it. The issue is the appropriatness of the punishment given what's happened in similar instances in the past. All we want is consistancy. Unfortunately, c**tface's actions and lack of punishment (and subsequent end of year reward) makes any decision on Danny VERY hard to swallow.

I get that he touched the Ref and thats bad, it just seems that they are trying to make up for all the other screw ups that have been made in the past.
Why choose NOW to make a stand. Why not next season???

then why ever...?

the injustice here won't be that danny gets punted, it's that not only did c**tface get away with his offence with only a yellow card, not only did he then go on to pretty well singlehandedly drag his team to the toilet seat and win the golden boot and JWM in the process, but the absolute f**king moron that failed to punt him for *the* sending off offence of all sending off offences continued to receive his weekly match and paypacket for the rest of the season, including a junket to the canary islands.

*that* is the injustice, that is the brick to swallow.

It's also the fact that Danny will be missing the chance to go to the Olympics. The same length of ban handed out to an older player wouldn't be as much as a punishment, so there is an injustice there.
