Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

What a waste of time
cant believe they even bothered shortening the sentence!!
He still is out for nine months whats the difference.
It maybe the last time we see Danny if i was him i would go overseas and get away from the idiots at the FFA!!!!!!!
'

Shit, is an appeals committee honestly going to overturn 2 decisions...???
I agree with bulldog, get out of here Danny, your futures too bright. We'll see you as our socceroo keeper soon enough instead, then you can come back to us in ten years.
BUT MEANWHILE I'LL SO FARKIN CRY!!!!

He probably never would have served the suspended sentence anyway, so they have effectively done nothing. Was there any reason given?
2 counts of striking a ref? (one was by Griffo, but the FFA copped so much for not suspending anyone they're making it up now)

this is shit, he still has to appeal. The worst that will happen from the appeal is that they will reinstate the 15 months 6 suspended which makes no difference from the current verdict

I personally wouldn't bother appealing anymore.
I think for Danny's sake, it's better to just leave it be and try to move on, however hard it's going to be for him.
He's still got the Olyroos (at this stage) to work for, so he needs to try move on and stay mentally and physically fit. I'll be behind him no matter where he goes or what he choses to and and I'm sure each and every one of you guys will be too.

f**k the FFA are a bunch of wankers. I've basically lost all motivation in the A-League and the FFA in general now.

Come on, bring out the ridiculous sentence for Sasho aswell, I guess you've set a 12 month precedent now, you f**ks.

He will appeal b4 FFA again no chance of them overturning it!!
Then he might have to appeal to FIFA but again they dont seem to overturn federations decisions
Still not confirmed about olympics

WTF?  Instead of 9 months + 6 suspended poor Danny gets 9 + 3 ?   :headbutt:

So what the FFA is saying is "We'll still take you away from the game for 9 months but hey, if you strike a ref again we'll only give you an extra 3 months rather than 6."    W  T  F  ?  So the penalty is still the same, but it's almost encouragement to reoffend?   That's just nuts.     ???

The FFA is making a stand and showing no remoarse.
Di Canio pushed a ref and got 11 matches.
A player at 2002 world cup got 6 months for touching an official.
He should be suspended for A-league matches say 10 and still be available to play national matches. If they did this he could join a european club and be playing again quicker
he will be in europe next season
He too good for a-league

f**k the petition if the appeal goes ahead lets go on mass and carry out a vigil at the front of the FFA whilst hearing is being heard.  It's time NOW for the people to speak out loud and make a public stand against the appauling lack of accountability to the members/supporters/football lovers.

Bring banners to say what you feel and mega phones so people can stand up and speak against the actions of the FFA towards our beloved football.

Stand up or shut up!!!

Too good for a-league in your opinion does not necessarily mean good enough to crack a starting team spot in Europe, that's not easy for a keeper.
Hell, look at all our keepers over there.. Van Stratten, Coe, Fedderichi.. even Kalac to a certain extent.. and there are more.

There's also the risk of him going over and burning out, there's a lot of pressure, less game time, etc.

Young enough isn't always good enough. He needed another season here at least.
FFA have just f**ked themselves.

Can a person take civial action (common law stuff) against a workplace etc.  Professional footballers, pitch is their workplace.  I'd pass the biggest bucket around and take a collection.

I disagree grant if he went and played for a first divison club in england or a lesser league like norway, belgium, Sweeden he would be playing first team football and he would develop as he is playing better quality of player.

If you "high-fived" your boss in a similar emotion circumstance and were sent home, later to be fired.. I doubt you'd have ANY luck going for a unfair dismissal claim.
And a civil lawsuit would most likely see it that way aswell. Hell the FFA are merely business men and tycoons from other codes of football, they probably saw it the same way. :S

It's a good call.
I respect your opinion, I just don't think that's the best way, though now there really isn't much choice I guess. I just hope he's smart about it, but he's got his head firmly on his shoulders and I'm sure Lawrie and they boys will be helping him.
I'll support him the whole time, how proud would you be watching Danny in a few years cracking Serie A or EPL first teams on TV!!
