A win is a win is a win. We win but you reckon we should have done something different - genius

I agree a win is a win. However, if we start to lose games because we play like that. Then we may as well have Laurie back.

the Heart were truly a team of individuals....Van Schip best unf**k them soon or its gonna be a long season for the media's new faves to win the cup

As I said, Heart had more than enough opportunities to score - more than we did, particularly as we were content with a 1-0 lead.

It's a win, but a lucky one - and against MV or SFC we can't expect to play like that and walk away with a win.

Yeh fair enough but I don't think it's a given that we would employ the same tactics against MV or SFC. Time will tell I guess.

I'm here watching Iraqgoals.... Is there anyway to get this streaming any clearer???? Would love to be able to stream this in full screen and be nice and clear!!

Go on to myp2p.eu and there is a link for IraqGoals and Neliek9, click on Neliek9 and u will get a stream with more than double the bitrate (about 700kb/ps) Should be decent quality for a full screen :)

Great first up effort and 3pts in the bag. My ratings:

JVS. 7. Looked confident and composed..
Porter 6.5. Better defensive effort and a couple of excellent blocks. Still occasionally brain snaps (like the handball)but definately getting better.
Wilko 7. Good captains knock.
Dutchy. 6.5. Looks solid.
Pedj 7. Good game and will keep Rose and Porter honest in fight for fullback spots.
WeeMac 7. Good game. Nice touch and expecting a big season from the Wee man.
Simon 8. MOM. Great workrate and looked sharper than last year.
Hutcho 7. Good game. Looked dodgy early but really warmed up and showed great experience. On that form he deserves to start.
Bozanic. 6. Took a long time to get going but is clearly quality. Not a great game but showed glimpses of great talent. Exciting prospect.
McBreen 7. Very good game and excellent workrate for a striker. Looks a cut above what we are used to.
Kwas 5.5. Deserved to start on preseason form but was pretty poor. Would be much better coming off the bench. The only disappointment really.

I agree....man what a bunch of whinging b*stards we have become! Away win against a tean that have arguably the best squad in the league. We should all be delighted. Of course i expect entertainment at home,we need that to bring all but the hardcore fans in... I think people have a hard time comprehending our position. We have less money to spend, we have less quality than the top teams, we need to develop young players in order to be financially viable, our support base is less than any other team, but...we always punch above our weight and this season looks very positive. I think we can make the finals and give it a real shake.

What would we rather have?

We played ugly and got 3 points, MV/SFC played very attractively (well, at least excitingly) and got 1 each.

I'll take an ugly win over an elegant non-win or loss any day of the week.

Next weekend at home, with our full team in (let's remember we had last minute team disruptions on Thursday) I expect us to play more elegantly and also win, but as long as we win, I'll take whatever is dished up and enjoy it.

WOOOHOOOO!!!!

Some great posts MM, Wombat, Local Pom, spike...
We did invite more attack than was necessary by giving the ball away cheaply in the second half.
However, Heart still had barely any real chances to score, and I'll add, less opportunities than us even though we were just playing on the counter.

By and large I think its fear of not seeing attractive/exciting football talking with the critics and fair enough within reason, but personally I think we will see more stylish attacking play than we have possibly in any season yet to date.

REGARDLESS, an away win that put us top of the league should always be celebrated.

This.

Even Foster on the The World Game last night said give us time when Francis was ripping into us. First time Fossie has ever defended us.

. that seems a bit of a role reversal. i didn't see it but fossie has always been less than complimentary of the mariners while i think franny has actually been quite ... umm, reasonable and balanced in his views

Hmm, i think Fozzie was more defending Arnie, not the mariners, in fact what he was basically doing was sticking in another jab on our form last year, re-iterating how shit we were and that we really need to change, so yeh, dont trust Fozzie for a second
