Bernie Mandic was just on Football Fever a few minutes ago saying Matty Simon is the most exciting talent to come out of Australia in a decade. Quite a rap for the big man.

The thing I like about Matty the most apart from his goals and work rate is how much he loves playing for the Mariners and being in the starting side. It just comes through so much in the way he plays. He is a joy to watch and it's so great to see a young bloke develop so much, so quickly. One of the greatest things to see in our game.

The way he came over to us after the game when he had finished his interviews (?) was pure class.

The rest of the team, including Lawrie, had already been and gone but he wanted to thank us. Happily, most of us were still there going mental so he got his usual great reception.

I had the pleasure of being at Hindmarsh earlier in the seasons and the similarities to Saturday night are amazing. 2-nil at half time, 3-nil early in the 2nd. We came back to level at 3-3. I was impressed in Adelaide when Lawrie joined the team in walking over to the away supporters... the same thing happened on Saturday, so it's not a one-off thing. Also, Matty was delayed due to being interviewed in Adelaide. He ran over to the supporters after his interview and after the rest of the team had headed back to the sheds. Definitely pure class from both gents.
