Bloody hell, I remember when this thread first went up and I thought it was a good, hopeful, wishful thinking type of Thread. Very happy to be proved wrong.

Go for the goals Matty, the whole stadium will be behind you today!

He would have won the golden boot prior this game had he been our penalty taker! I will feel so sorry for him if he doesn't score today because he derves it. Which makes me pose the question... How many penalties has Smeltz or Van Dyk score this year to contribute to their tally?

Smeltz - 12 goals (5 pens)
Allsop - 11 goals (0 pens)
Simon - 11 goals (0 pens) [Game in hand]
van Dijk - 11 goals (2 pens) - thanks Timmah

So, so close to getting a Golden Boot for Matty Simon. He was looking damn dangerous out there against Adelaide last night. I am very happy for Matt Simon and the season he has had this year.

I hope he gets a run with the Socceroos this week, and bags a double!

Does any one think he'll get golden boot. ???
he will come 2nd i think
dunno who will come 1st
but hey- honestly if anyone said to me Matty Simon would score 5+ goals this season I would have been happy!
I called it 2.5 months ago
:D
Kind of pissed off though. He would have grabbed it had we had anything to play for last night.
Oh well- at least I am right about something on these forums :p

If Matty had slotted in a penalty shot or two during the season.....

I think Matty struggled with the pressure of attempting to win the Golden Boot... some of his decision making was a little Nik like last night.... taking shots when a pass was the better option etc...

Nik-like.....that's good.

The constant changing of players upfront might explain some of the poor decision making. If Mrdja had a run of appearances and I think he could be lethal. Keeping the ball and shooting would be the best option when he plays youth level. He needs to get a few more 1st team matches under his belt to break the habit.
