Mariners vs Wellington Phoenix (22nd August 2010)

Thats what came to my mind...

RE - Porter V Pedj,

Pedj is stronger and better on the ball...

Porter, despite his last game, is a better crosser of the ball and a more consistent/accurate passer...

442 with a narrow diamond calls for its RB and LB to get forward.
While unlike others, I do like Porter, but Pedj definitely made a stronger case for himself last week imo,
and that was on top of a string showing against Heart also...

So Pedj would start at RB in my 11 this week.

Hellz yehhhhh!!!

Wellington are pumped with confidence at the moment, speaking to a fair few of their fans and each of them have said they more than fancy themselves to win the entire thing this year, so scalping them in this game will be a massive statement!!

Can we do it?

COME ON YOU YELLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

Looks like a very strong team this week,17 players named 2 to be ommitted!
So with 15 v 11 we should get up! (Unless Mrdja is on)...lol

I think you'll find that the Nix will also have 4 players on the bench.

Pretty sure he was implying that our depth is so good we essentially have 15 starting players, where as nix have an ideal 11 plus 4 subs

Interesting, very defensive side if you see Hutch as a DM. If you don't and see Hutch as a genuine AM in this formation then its quite an attacking team.

Bench combinations also have a world of opportunity. It can go either more defensive (5 back) or ultra attacking (3 back) with the addition of Doig while McBreen, Kwas and Perez all offer different attacking outlets.

Hope Arnold continues his great start.

from all reports he will be on the plane saturday bound for wellington

I am actually hoping he doesn't début this weekend. The Phoenix are a very physical side and playing away to them is always extremely tough. Perez is tiny and I don't think he'll enjoy this game. If he is already feeling homesick I think we should try and keep him in as best spirits as possible and play him next weekend against Sydney.

From what I have heard he won't be risked and is more likely to debut against Sydney.

GA will definitely try and pack the midfield and be physical
