First time Matty looked unsure of himself tonight. Don't think it warrants a rant such as Shipwreck's. Even the best keepers have off games.

Great game.

Stuck in Tamworth (work not floods) so had to watch it on TV which sometimes gives a slightly different perspective.

I thought we were well worth the 3 points and our middies dominated the best side in HAL (without McKay thankfully).

Ryan 4.5. Poor game.
Pedj 5.5. For me his worst game of the season. Overlapped quite well and got involved but was a headless chook for so much of the game. His passing was sloppy and he was culpable for the last two goals and left Bris player unmarked for what should have been the winner for them. Defend from the player when they have the ball Pedj!
Wilko 7. Solid.
Dutchy 7. Solid.
Rose 7.5 Good game again.
WeeMac 7. Pretty good.
Griffiths 7.5. Mixed game. Occasionally brilliant and occasionally sloppy. Overall a good game from the big man.
Perez 7.5. Classy. Please let him take all the dead balls from now on!!!! When he hits top gear he is gonna be a revelation.
Olly 8. This bloke must have the quickest feet in HAL. Top game and only blemish was missing an open goal.
Kwas 7. Great finish. Started a bit dusty but warmed up really well and is definately an important part of our squad(never thought i'd say that in first 5 seasons).
Simon 7.5. Good game and quality finish.

MOM.

3pts Olly
2pts Simon
1pt Rose/Perez

Great game, good atmosphere and lots of goals. A clearence off the line and their stiker missing a volley in the last minute. Can't ask for much more from a game of football. Wish we won however, makes the scum game really important now.
Perez was amazing tonight, must say it will be either Rose or Dutchy for player of the season.

. fffaaaaaaaarrrrrkkkkkk

. i feel like i did after the 4-5 match. it was a great game, i think we outplayed them ... but i just feel hollow now

. their first goal was soft ... yes young matty may have misread the flight. their second looked to be offside (he came from an offside position). the third i don't know how the young fella could have done any more (we can't expect him to grow mid-game) but we should have shut them down

. all our goals were great ... we were definitely 'up' for this game. could have had two handball penalties in the first half, but surely at least one

. i have never sworn at the officials so much in my life. i couldn't help but think they felt sorry for them because they were queenslanders ... or the tinfoil hat opinion that the mariners were simply not allowed to break their unbeaten run - what would fossie say?

. well done also to those doing the flood relief collection

. oh and a decent crowd for a midweek game i thought ... it was certainly a spectacle

3: Perez
2: Bozanic
1: Rose
With Kwassie an honorable mention.

Ryan- 5.0
1st goal his fault, couldn't do much for 2nd or 3rd goal (I'm pissed off at the idiots blaming him for 2 defensive mistakes). And didn't have much more to do
Bojic- 6.5
Great effort up and down the right. Good dribbling, strong in challenges but poor crossing. A bit suspect in defending at end, and what a stupid yellow card! He is lucky he didn't get sent off! He should have got a 2nd yellow for that shirt pull on Broich at end of match. Needs to smarten up! But I still love him ;)
Wilko- 5.5
Some nice intercepts, stopping promising Brisbane attacks. But he helped let Brisbane back into the match after our 2nd and 3rd goals.
Dutchy- 5.5
See above. Apparently put Broich onside for a 3rd goal. A one off? or Fatigue...he is 35 afterall
Rose-7.5
He improved greatly from last game against the Roar. Was not susceptible in defence, and killed them going forward. Well won goal!
Griffiths- 6.0
Played alright made some good tackles. But where was he for 3rd goal?
McGlinchey- 6.5
Quieter than last game. But tbf, he was insane in that game lol. Great dribbling as always. The crossing was poorer, and his passing was a bit off at times. But boy did he link up well with Bojic!
Bozanic- 7.5
WHAT A THROUGH BALL! Brilliant stuff, and menacing down the left. A real gem!
Perez- 8.0
I can't wait til he gets fit! That's a compliment. Because he is destroying teams at probably only 60-70% fitness. Scary to think what he can do fully fit!
Kwasnik- 7.5
I think he has been missing occasionally in previous games, but he was everywhere, great effort, and great skills! One of the best performances i've seen. AND WHAT A FINISH!
Simon- 7.0
Great work rate, nice passing. Good in the air! A good performance, and a good goal.
Sure it was a fluke. But he meant it! He tried to get a touch on a relatively poor freekick...so smart move by using the back of his heel!

Subs
McBreen- Improved effort. Got in the way once. But he was much more lively
Was lucky to not be in the grandstands! I would have picked Baird, but i suppose this was a loyalty decision!

Amini- I love him. I mean I really love him. But this why we need Perez. Amini for me showed his youth today! Couple of bad touches. 2 bad crosses. Still one of the best prospects this country has. Amini still has a way to go yet!
Poor hutch... :p

Btw
That 1st goal...
What crap organisation
Where was man on far post?
Why on earth would you go out for that ball, wasn't even close.
Although surely JC will go over with the lad, on both organisation, and when to come out!

And may i say congrats to the Brisbane Centrebacks! 2 insane goal saving clearances (a Rose cross along the ground, and the header at the death!)

A fantastic game of football tonight!!
It was fast & exciting with plenty of goals & dramas.

Whoever wrote "90mins,90 emotions " had to be talking about this game.
For mine it was equal to the 5-4 game & probably the best game,I`ve seen this season.

To me it was like a prize fight.
Both teams tested each other in ther first 20mins by denying the other team possession for long periods.
Then they began the punch & counter punch holding possession again & finally a full on slugging match to the death.

It amazes me though how different our views are on players & their contributions, but thats why the game is so great.

From my point of view:-

Ryan.7..Had a difficult game.He was let down badly by some poor
defending on all 3 goals.
Goal one I,he positioned himself nicely to allow for the
wind but was let down by defenders not covering the posts
Goal 2 ..what happened to basic marking?
Goal 3 defenders should have shut down the ball a lot
quicker.

Pedj.7.5 - I have a long history with him going back to u/11`s &
he`s not my favourite player, but he ran his F.....g!!
arse off tonight in what was one of his best attacking
games. He should be forgiven for any defensive mistakes
he made through sheer fatigue.

Wilko.7 - a few defensive lapses but generally played well

Dutchy.6.5 - He definitely got flustered tonight.
The Roar played down our right to keep away from him
which effectively kept him out of the game for periods.
But I also think he is carrying an injury.

Rosey.8 - had a great game,attacked all night & defended strongly
I just wish he would get a bit hungrier when he`s in
the box & have a dig himself

Griffo.7.5 -Solid in defence & also came forward well

Wee-mac.7.5 - Really put in a great effort.Needs to be more
selfish when he`s in the box.

Olley.8 - had an outstanding game. He kept things simple today &
didn`t try to force the miracle pass which made him
look a lot better.

Perez.6.5- had his moments when he ran with the ball & looked
fantastic, but at other times lost possession easily &
looked ordinary. He continues to improve though & was
unlucky when he hit the post.

Kwassie.7 - played like Kwassie, brilliant one minute then
whatever the next.Took the goal well though

Matty.7 - he grows on ya. Love him or hate him he has a go & is
the spirit of the team

Amini hard to judge coming on so late

McBreen I was embarrassed by his performance.
Kwassie deserved better than to be replaced by him.
Was Baird available?

Overall, a great game & full credit to The Roar, who did their state proud in the face of adversity.

To the twelve Mariners players that gave their best, I thankyou for some great entertainment. We still have a long way to go but with performances like that the rewards will soon come.

MOM Rosey 3
Olley 2
Pedj 1

PS. The refereeing was crap.

CRACKING game. Obviously. Brisbane were mostly awful tbh, as their fans are saying, but they took their chances - bar mercifully Costa's last one - exceptionally well. However i think FULL credit has to go to our side who unreservedly brought that less than sparkling best performance out of the Roar.

However, yes, we should have won, because dodgey hand balls and missed opportunities all aside, all three goals will go down as defensive errors - and with the exception of Ryans, not really even physical but more mental lapses and or tenacity which can/should be so avoidable.

First goal; a clear blunder by Ryan which I'm sure he puts his hand up for. The wind would not have helped, but he never had a hope in hell of claiming that, and that far out he has to trust his quite remarkable shot stopping and his defenders unless he is 99% sure he can reach it even if he needs to go through whoever is in his way. Which with his frame, with Paartalu, Wilko and Dutchy contesting, was a very poor decision that I trust he will learn from.

2nd goal - Wombat said it earlier - Pedj was entirely culpable. He let Broich go untracked into the box.
Unfortunately this didn't surprise me at all, because I saw him gas out on another lung busting length of the field run just a few minutes earlier and was already expressing my concerns to those around me that he was dead on his feet... It's a hard one because Pedj is a wonderful athlete, very fit with a fantastic engine and work rate and offers us a lot going forward, however tonight he over estimated his stamina and was then unable to fulfil his primary role and that is to defend. It's a tough one, but sometimes just a little less is more.

3rd goal, bloody hell but you could see it coming too, Griffiths who I thought had a very good game otherwise, had either run out of legs or was mentally fatigued or both - because as again someone else mentioned - he stopped closing the space down and was slow to track and pickup. Meyer should simply not have had that much space. Because, while it doesn't happen that often, if they hit it right, you get punished. (Man Rosey was pissed - and rightfully so - he got forward invaluably but still always did his job at the back- it clealry drove him crazy to watch the lapses cost us so badly - that man should be in Qatar atm as far as I'm concerned)

To be fair to our players however, GA, who I hold in very high regard for his achievements so far and all his coaching with CCM, I believe stuffed up his subs tonight and it likely cost us two points.

I understand the tactical shifts that occurred due to the changing scoreline, and that he withheld a planned sub etc... however regardless of the score shifts, you could clearly see the fatigue setting in and that we were crying out for substitutions.

Ironically Kwas, of all people still looked to be going strong upfront and for the first time for mine he's truly looking like an 80 minute + player - gods he flourishing up front under GA - superb game from him tonight. Anyhow, we were clearly still dangerous up front - whereas our RB and three of our mids were all fading fast...

And by god I wanted Amini on earlier!!
You could literally feel the vitality spark and energy ooooozing out of the kid and the potential that something was going to happen if he only got more of chance. I understand his natural sub possy in Perez was still doing well, Griffiths however was looking pretty cooked and then when the Roar went down a man at 74 mins... We truly had the luxury of making such a change and if we had brought Amini on then I really think we would have put them to the sword. At the least, defensively, it was VERY likely with his fresh legs he would have been buzzing around and tracking back (Like he always has when he has played before!) and would have helped foil any of their late opportunities.

BUTTT, and this is where it really gets me, even if we wanted to play safer, like for like, Hutch had fresh legs and closes the midfield space down very well. But still Arnie sat on the subs, meanwhile Brisbane with 3 pairs of fresh legs, even though they were down to 10, started launching at us on the counter... As such I wasn't surprised they could play 10 against 11. And then finally our first sub was into the area on the field where we already still had significant threat and penetration. And heaven forbid at 3-3 against ten men we could have taken off a DM and play with three strikers or two central AM's -an really go after it - which was my personal preference.

So all in all, for mine, I think our subs were a real ballsup tonight.

BUT, I was very impressed by our teams overall performance and what Arnie has achieved with them as individuals and as a team with a clear system of play.

A bit of luck, or a bit more focus and skill by individuals in a few given moments and we would have definitely won it tonight. W4 all know that.

When it comes to the finals, while they were missing McKay and Franjic, we were nowhere near this side in our first two games and tonight we were all over them. Add Mckay and Franjic back into the mix and i think our final against them will make for a cracking game that will be a very tight affair. As we have improved out of sight and could make a real go of the finals.

And finally...

What the hells with 3 mins of extra time with a sending off, a pen, 4 goals, six subs and Kwasnik down for two minutes...??

Ridiculous officiating. The reffing was shit again. Though TBF it was shit for both teams.

Yeah Coolcat and few others real tend to bring out the homicidal tendencies don't they.

And many Roar fans are starting to become SFC and Victory esque in their arrogance aren't they.

Lol, how was the first post. Coolcat. "Well I didn't think it was a very good game" Such a clown. LMAO.

I feel your pain Garlo and haven't bothered posting there in a few a couple of months now. Too many idiots to waste letters on.
