Mariners vs MV R22

I had this massive analogy thought up after Fitzy's strike about how this 4-2 game compared to a 4-2 game between Man United and Everton a few years ago where a nervous young winger finally scored the game clincher after a few fluffed lines and that win pretty much won United the Premier League that year and the same could be on the cards.

All irrelevant with Glinch's hatty!

But that was amazing and to the 1/2 bay of hearty souls in Bay 16, I wish I was there with you.

So much great football on show despite Harps' commontary which was (if you believe it) worse than usual.

Bring on Suwon and WSW!

After being basically pathetic, against Perth....that was the most amazing turn around....because we were simply brilliant.

This is the first time Arnie has gotten the better of Ange.....and he absolutely mugged him. From now on I'm going to refer to him as Sir Arnie.

We were superb.

Fullbacks..,superb.
Centre backs....dominant.
Midfield..wow. Hutchinson was excellent as was Monty. Mcbreen had a massive game and weemac was Mom.
Bernie and duke were superb.
Fitzgerald looked the goods when he came on.

Superb all round.

Mom.
3pts weemac
2pts duke
1pts monty, macca and bernie

. absolutely amazing game ... everybody played well, but i think dukie really made the game what it was

. rosey and hutch had big games after copping a bollocking last week

. for monty and the wee-man it must have been just like playing 'back home'. if the little fella was half an inch taller he would have had four

. we seem to get ourselves into trouble when we play dainty little passes ... when we pass with purpose we are so, so good. considering their two goals came from a spot and an own-goal ... and we missed our penalty chance ... just proves how we refuse to take the easy path

. loved the chant originating from high in the east stand 'we want 6' which obviously became 'we want 7'

. lastly ... and by no means, least important ... the pitch was absolutely fantastic tonight considering the weather we have had (and are still having). credit to the ground staff ... things have definitely improved in recent years - right decision to let the game be played. hopefully it continues to hold up over the next (very busy) week

. oops that wasn't the last thing ... our ball control was amazing in very tough conditions
Overall the match didn't really look like it was overly wet, ball control from both teams was pretty good, considering. No splash coming off the ground either...

Funny bloke!

Oh yeah...massive respect to bay 16....especially the muppet that played with his nipples on the 5th or 6th goal...LOL

I think we were all getting a little excited by that point, just not sure if I was quite THAT excited :p

A fantastic turn around after a disappointing Perth game.
The Mariner`s took control early & although there were some shaky moments when we were lucky not to concede, we still outplayed Victory in the best display of wet weather football that I`ve ever seen from the locals.

Ryan: Only made one mistake all game which cost us a goal.Interestingly though he did the same thing in the warm
ups
Rose: One of his best games in recent months. I`d still like to see him attck the by line a lot more or have a shot or
two himself just to give some variation.
Dutchy : Solid as usual, although time is catching up with him he is a rock at the back
Tesco : Put us under pressure with 4 waywood passes in the first half that could have cost us dearly, apart from that
he was very solid
Pedj: not his best game but he caused a lot of damage down the right flank especialy in last quarter.
Monty: absolutely superb game.He probably covered more ground than any other player on the park, with one
almighty tacle that saved a certain goal.
Hutcho: His best game for quite a few seasons. His passing was varied, he pushed the ball forward more in this game
than he has in all others combined & it showed with the amount of pressure we put on them
Bernie: did bugger all until halfway through the second half when he just ripped them apart.
Weemac: fantastic finishing. He thoroughly deserved his hat-trick
Macbreen: first half was ordinary . His second half was sensational
Duke: From the first game I saw him against the Gold Coast (remember them?) I knew he was something special.
He chased everything & put pressure on their back four with his intelligent runs. I just love it when he scores.
Fitzy: stuffed one good chance but made amends when a well taken goal
Olly: great to see him him back.

Bay 16: you guys are just getting better each game. The songs were loud, clear & varied. Awesome performance.
Also cheers to a great crowd. 6,000+ in that sort of weather is amazing.

Considering the small numbers and conditions, my MOM goes to Bay 16. Sang loud and proud all night long. Some old classics for posterity, and the 'bay to bay dance' was a hoot. Well done PriorPete, Eggy and everyone else. A special mention for the eastern grandstand too. They really got into it tonight. More of that against WSW please!

And what has snooty little ange had to say on the media about the game?
"We were terrible, but the mariners are pretty ordinary" any acknowledgement yet ange??!!

I like big Ange! He's a very passionate coach who doesn't like to admit defeat. He, Arnie and Poppa have kept the standard high while the others are floundering.
He also gives validation to the Mariners outstanding coaching performance this season. That's Arnie, Moss, Clarky and Crawley combined
