I think Saturday is a much better option, you'd have a day to recover before work, it's more family friendly. I guess there's some things going for Sunday, but Saturday seems much better.
SFS wasnt available on Saturday due to NRL trial match so it was either SFS on Sunday or ANZ but thats twice the size and probably twice the cost

I would have been happy with Friday night as an alternative more so than Sunday but thats what were stuck with

4th does added time don't they???
if we are winning he'll add 10mins
if we losing there will be less then a min for stoppages.

Not exactly.  4th suggests to the ref how much time he thinks is left, either via the wired headset or a discrete hand signal, or by flashing the board at the ref under the table. The ref than okays it, or says to add/detract time, and goes from there.  So the time is completely in control of the ref - the 4thie just communicates the stoppage time to the crowd.

One benefit to the Sunday arvo match is that I'd anticipate less alcohol to be consumed than on a Saturday night match, which means less potential for conflict - particularly as a Saturday night would probably have a lot more people kicking on in the city afterwards.

Warning.....Off Topic comment.

During the 2nd leg against Newcastle we scored 2 goals in regular time(90mins)making it 2-2. We then scored in the 5th min of extra time to make it 3-2. Winning the game!

Now from my experience in champions league games, as far as i'm concerned if 'scum' scored in extra time to make it 3-3 and there were no other goals the game would go to penalties.

Is this correct?

From a couple of articles in papers and different forums, there was the suggestion that if Danny had not saved that bullet from Bridge in Extra time and the scum scored and no other goals were scored finishing at 3-3, then the scum would have gone through to the GF.

Does anybody know the real situation if it finished 3-3 in extra time?

It was announced at the game that the away goals rule still applied in extra time... ie, Newcastle would've gone through to the GF

That's right.....basically, if NJ had scored at all in extra time, even though we were up 3, they would've ended up winning.

Ridiculously unfair, because it gives the away team in the 2nd leg a huge advantage as you can only ever have extra time in the 2nd leg...

"The away goals rule is used to decide the winner in two-legged football matches when the aggregate score is even. Goals scored in a team's away leg count double, so for example if the two results were Liverpool 1-1 Inter Milan and Inter Milan 2-2 Liverpool, the game would go to Liverpool. This rule takes priority over extra time and penalties.

The rule was first used in the early days of European club football (e.g. the European Cup), although it is now commonly used in many other competitions. One interesting consequence of the rule is that often, when a team is drawing on aggregate, it is effectively losing but could win the game with just one more goal"

Saturday game would have had crap ratings i presume

That would be the reason it is on a sunday.

I'm pretty sure the TV ratings of Sunday games are a lot, lot bigger than Saturday games.

I hope Tommy trains tomorrow...looks like he is the only doubt for the game.

It would be interesting to see whether Lawrie would start the German or Greggo in midfield if Tommy can't play.

Imagine if he keeps Andre on the bench...he will be so bloody fired up when he comes on later!

I could see Gumps starting tbh, been training very well appartently, plus with his experience he could be very valuable.

Anyone got any feelings yet? Win? Loss? Extra Time?

I'm nervous, excited and the anticipation is killing me.  All I can think about is winning.  I realised yesterday while driving home, the thought of losing hasn't crossed my mind.  Therefore I'll accept nothing but a win.

It's our year, we're winning.

This may sound a little over the top, but how does 4-0 sound?  This was my score prediction for the second leg of the semi final, and it very well could have been 4-0.  I also stated in my last Sun article that we'd make the grand final, so hopefully my score prediction also comes to fruition.

it would be good if andre starts did anyone see semi final 2nd leg when he came on the game lifted???

But thats why he should be on the bench - its the lift an impact he gives when he comes off it that may be the spark we need to get over the line. TBH - I can not see him starting - I think Greggo will and then Gumps to add impact...

My understanding is that finals are held on Sunday's as it's not the traditional "going out" night.  If finals were held on Saturdays they open themselves up to increased trouble / violence with alcohol fueled patrons.  This apparently is less likely to happen on a Sunday.

I think in the UK they have finals on Sundays too for the same reason?  Is that right DJ?

It must be a purely commercial decision. We all know by now that that's the #1 priority.

I'm feeling like we'll win. It will be 1-0. We'll score from a set piece.

Really?  A set piece?

You could be right Brett, however our set pieces don't fill me with confidence.

I'm going for 2-0, Sash in the 33rd mintue and JA 76th minute, crowd 43,951.

I can't see the jatz crackers man scoring, we know how to shut him out of the game.

I hope Holland has a shocker and forever regrets becoming scum. The boy is complete and utter filth in my book.

My overwhelming wish, more than anything else, is to send Viddie off the winner and champion he is. He deserves nothing less after his magnificent career.
