He is suspended for NYE and if Doig is still injured (if lol) we might actually need to blood a youngster.

Probably be Clarkie though

oh well its season 2 all over again, could be worse - could be a pompey fan
Wow, 3 points from safety and beat Liverpool at the weekend, us poor Pompey fans  ::) give me a good relegation battle anyday

Sydney were better in defence, simple
Well done to those in the away bay tonight, I thought we did a good job and were rarely silent

where else can you read a report that says that 3 people were responsible for the goal.

Danny never had a chance, porter was where he should have been.

The player who completely f**ked that up was Boogard. Out of position and gave up chasing back.

The sooner he f**ks off the better. Ever since he signed, he has had his bags packed and is waiting to go AND IT SHOWS

Actually Boogs was not helped by the fact that Huke stopped chasing when he, and not Boogs, had the speed to catch Brosque. Wasn't his only stuff up either. Danny could not do anything about that shot.

I thought we improved on last week defensively but were even worse in attack, as reflected by the score. I was looking for us to not get massacred, so not too disappointed with 1-0. Marinators, if that is the correct name, were brilliant once again. I'm always amazed how few make the trip to this game, but this time for the first time we had solid noise. However bad we are on the pitch, everything in the stands is going well.

Our forwards are terrible... aside from Matty who tries hard... but he missed another sitter tonight...

I think it is this simple ... if Mac, Nil & Kawsse are in the side next week then the coach needs to go... They are bad and getting worse ...

Get some youth league players in the first squad ... I tho I had seen some poor games but DMac's tonight was beyond bad... Close to the worst performance by any Mariner ever...

Just feel so bad......... we are loosing two fullbacks ... we have three terrible forwards...

LM is up to you put some new blood in the forward line...

Did you watch the NYL game?  I would have joined you in your suggestion until then .. they were poor even if they won.

Lawrie gave a big thank you to the fans behind the goal on fox. Well done.

Agree almost completely with FFC's score card. Travis included. Did some good things, but mitigated by some clumsy passes and poor vision. I actually began writing a  score card up after the game, but just couldn't see it through... the pain was still to close you know what I mean. My only exception is that I thought Mrdja looked VERY sharp when he came on tonight, didn't put a foot wrong and involved himself in play very well for the time he had. He was more of the reason we started to gain teh ascendancy than Tarvis imo.  I'd be giving him a start NYE.

Jazza also nailed it imo. I think we should have begun 343 - with an attack over brawn midfield.

First half the middies support of the strikers was simply atrocious. We looked unfit or lazy it was just bizarre... I was yelling at the box, and then camera pans to Lawrie livid and screaming the same bloody things!

But tbf our backline was also sitting deep and just walking, 15 minutes in, and so many seemed just in bloody cruise mode... Boogs first and foremost - and then the middies followed suit... Leaving strikers isolated... and on the rare occasion we did break of course no one is there.

We can't play this way and expect to score except on a perfect wingback cross or set piece. No support, and you won't ever score unless you have strikers with blinding speed or the ability to take on players and skin them. Honestly, we might as well play Heff as striker - as he's looking like the only one who can beat a man anymore.

And so we are not scoring.

The biggest problem imo being our forward movement and runs off the ball. We are so easily tracked and often only have one option for distribution, menaing we are completely predicatble and easy to close down...

Sydney will consistently play 1 or touch passes always moving forward, with Brosque Corica and bridge, all making dangerous switching diagonal runs... whereas we knock it up, turn and knock it back... knock it up... turn and... and repeat... patient build up is ok, but its ofcourse easy to read and so if you can't/don't switch play fast, or have wingers wide to stretch things with pace and skills then you can't expect to get much joy. And we look joyless excpt for Heffs overlaps.

How many times did you see SFC run simple 1'2's and the like?

Us?

Its a pity, I do think there is quality in the side. But we are in a slump and need a side that gels and gets to play week in week out. I understand we needed to change, correct intent, but unfortunately didn't work again...

Then we are in real trouble ... what about the U 15 side

Well i said 3 weeks ago how big this 3 weeks was we were in form and had the top 3 teams + brisbane back to back i was expecting at least 7points hoping for 10+ and thought it was a strong chance we managed a total of ZERO points and coughed up the epic gd margin at the same time this is scary last place yet to play and only 3behind is not cool :headbutt:

Season is bang on course really. Season 2 that is.

Danny - 7 = didnt have much to do, not at fault for the goal

Crap.  Any keeper beaten as easily as that at the near post is at fault.

Agree should have dived. But he has saved our bacon many a time this season so .....
Hutch far and a way MOM....Heff very good getting forward but ended up with f**kall to show for it. Still can't fathom why early on with the arrival of Wee Mac & Travis they played together in the centre of midfield and looked great! Now all of a sudden it seems as if Lawrie is determined to split them up or something...buggered if I know

Turnbull was on Coast FM at HT? Did he have anything to say?

I was watching the Brosque show on Fox

He just spoke about the Centre of Excellent development and how it was going to work and what it was bringing to the Central Coast Mariners, Central Coast Football, Central Coast Community and football in Australia.

Wrong - EPIC FAIL....... Look at the curl on the ball.... NO CHANCE..... But of course you would have saved it....

You guys need to stop listening to foxtel commentators - they have no idea... think for yourself... HOW was Danny ever going to save it.....

I was immensely proud of the Mariners last night and have no intention of criticising any player. Outplayed and almost overrun by Sydney in the first half the second half comeback was magnificent. The whole team showed courage, nerve, invention and didn't leave a drop of petrol in the tank. 3-4-3 was gutsy and deserved better reward, they deserved at least a draw. All players get 10 out of 10 from me except Heff - he gets 100. See youse all on New year's Eve.

you're right. It was a supurb finish. There's just some shots that keepers can't get to, and that was one of them. Even if it was at his front post. The question is. Where was the pressure from the defender?

Ohwell. As long as we beat them in the finals I don't care.

Watching that goal at the game I was like WTF, Danny just watched it go in.  Then, after it was explained to me, I was told that from Danny's view / perspective, it look like it was going to go wide. Hence the reason why he didn't even attempt to save it.

He has a full line of defenders in front of him, it's their job to ensure the ball is stopped and doesn't reach Danny if at all possible.

There were 10 players out there who busted their arses - agree on that point 100% Roy.

(Boogs take note)

Against good sides, you wont create many chances and you have to take the ones you get. SFC had 1 really clear cut opportunity and took it. We had 2 or 3 and didnt come close.

Its the basics where we are falling down. Simple passes, crossing etc etc and that might be confidence.

Keep plugging away I spose?

Can't be too optimistic even about that, not the way the boys are playing. They need to read 'How to win a game of soccer' and make special note of the part where it says 'Score more goals than the opposition'.
