. fyi:

. have just heard all northbound lanes on the f3 (2km south of mt white) are closed due to a semi accident - diversion onto the old road in place

. i know kick-off is some time away ... but expecting some to travel up early (with no trains and big crowd, etc) and i think we all know how long some of these things can take to clear properly. anybody driving please be careful.

. may be partially opened within the hour

. apparently all northbound lanes have been re-opened but reduced speed limits are still in place as the tidy up continues

You can still buy tickets in the Mariners active support section?
that is the only section left open along with the ALCOHOL free bay, and also 1 BLUE GA ticket left.

Why the hell did Matty Ryan take a penalty kick??? We've dropped too many points from shithouse penalties....how was it being there?

Been a long time since I posted but wtf is Matt Ryan doin takin penalties? Does he practice this at training? If he is the best we have a big problem. Aside from that Mariners were far superior for most of the game. GA wtf is goin on with the penalties? Lets sort it!!

Credit to the wsw fans, put us to shame. Best away support to frequent bluetongue. Credit to the bay tonight. Loudest we have been in a while. Credit to the cc mariners football team. You put wsw to shame and had three points stolen. We will still win the premiership.

After the Phoenix game:
"Good game to watch last night, but in fairness the Phoenix were dreadful!!!

On the negative side though I'm worried about the amount of chances we misssed throughout the match (even though we scored 5), Pedj's 2 sitters missed, Monty hitting the post, Rosey missed a couple as well

If we can work on our finishing a little more I feel that we'll be unstoppable! Until then I'm worried that its going to come back and bite us on the ass in a finals match later on.

Arrrggghhhhh I told you so, finishing cost us dearly tonight, hitting the post and the missing spot kick, we played well, just couldnt get the ball into the net.

Was especially pleased with the atmosphere around Bluetongue tonight, credit to the fans that like me, sat through the rain and cheered the boys to the end.

Chins up boys, we'll be alright, just need to maintain our composure and structure and we'll finish first!

OK, I'm pretty sure we were the better side on the night.
BUT... can I ask.... do we only know how to cross and hope for a tap in/header, or can we not have a few cracks from outside the box??? In these wet.... slippery conditions, surely it would've been worth having a few shots from outside the box. Seems the only one to try was Bernie and he was blocked alomst every time.

Disappointed we dropped 1st spot.... gunna be a hard task to get that back from them in the last 4 games!!

BTW, props to the RBB.. I've never been to a match overseas.... and barring the flares.... seeing their chants etc was something else. I reckon they're the benchmark in that department for sure.

Atmosphere was amazing. Big credit to WSW fans and Lyall Gorman. (Now f**k off home will you)

Football, we were clearly the better side. And if you asked me which of our strikers I'd replace with Haliti, the answer would be none. But there you go. Love hurts, football is just plain unbearable. ANd yep, we should definitely be pulling the trigger more, especially in conditions like this. Should have rained in low hard shots. Would also have liked to see Duke stay on.

Ok, now I think everyone who is familiar with me knows that i'm pretty positive, but to have your keeper stepping up before all other 10 players really is an absurd state of affairs to be in. MC Breen should just be told he is to take all pens, even if he misses them all. Can't get any worse can it.

The very least we deserved out of that game was a point. And the pen should have sealed that for us.

The future...

Toilet seat. Barring a disaster, we will at least take second place and play either AU or MV to get into the GF.

The Plate, 4 games twelve points up for grabs, mercifully in the HAL anything can happen and our goal difference could end up proving the difference. But WSW destiny is in their hands now.

Upcoming fixtures:

Mariners vs SFC - (Mariners away)
WSW vs Welly -(WSW at home)

Have to give a big edge to WSW in this round. Welly are the only team in the comp with nothing already left to play for. They don't usually travel well, and have had a shocking year. SFC are still fighting for top six.

Mariners Vs Roar (Mariners Home)
WSW vs heart (WSW away)

I call this one "mostly" even. Has potential for both teams to trip up. WSW support is bloody impressive and this will be the first time in a few weeks they won;t have such a strong twelfth man.

Mariners vs AU (Mariners away)
WSW vs SFC (WSW home)

I see WSW as having the edge in this round with home ground advantage and playing a weaker side. But good news is SFC will be up for the derby, regardless of top 6, they will be playing for pride, and could cause an upset.

Mariners vs Heart (Mariners Home)
WSW vs Jets (WSW Away)

Really depends as Jets and Heart could both likely be fighting for a play off spot. If so, I'd give the edge of this one to us. But if one of the teams is out of finals contention that could change everything...

The way I see it, we need to be at our best, win all four, and if we can do that, I think Wanderers will likely stumble at least once.

Come on Mariners.

That was a good night.

Great atmosphere. Both sets of fans were great.

We were the better side but our finishing was poor. The penalty was a joke and it was hard to believe macca hit the bar from there.

I thought Bernie was superb. Duchy was very good and I thought Fitzgerald looked great when he came on.

Even though the Mariners were the better side and should have won....I was impressed by the Drive bys organisation and how well the press.

Wanderers support was great and apart from the skanky bitch that started a fight were very well behaved.
