Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

.

. only supports one team in europe and refers to the game as soccer so has probably never seen the un-named team play live

I have seen more AS ROMA games than you have seen games altogether, i have travelled to watch them in UCL, i have watched them even win trophies back in the day, for a team that isnt considered big, thats not too bad aye :)

Care factor = zero
I'd be more impressed by your attendance at one Mariners game.

Hey guys, anyone know what the deal is with mariners mates cards, I think I remember when they came out a few years ago there was a condition that the club reserves the right to only allow the first three thousand in the event of a largest turnout. So presumably talk of almost a sell out means about 17k have sold? I have a season ticket, bought my missus a ticket, three of my kids have mariners mates cards and bought my youngest a ticket today. Cheers

. contained in an email from the club today:

Ausgrid Mariners Mates members are advised to arrived early as we reserve the right to limit the number of Ausgrid Mariners Mates members through the turnstiles as per the terms and conditions of your Membership. We are advising anyone who may be concerned about gaining entry using their pass to purchase a ticket to the match to avoid any disappointment.

My question is in the match ups...
I'm guessing we'll line up the same as last week with mcbreen at 10 and duke up front.
If we do, how will they compete against the back 4 of wsw? I think well, the heart of their defence is their weak spot. Beauchamp and Topor are good in the air but are slow to turn and accelerate, so will they drop off and play deep?

The midfield is ours for the taking if they line up with mooy and Ono both involved. Yes they are good going forward but defensively open if they play together, Monty and hutch will mop these guys up time after time.

Our backs as in Sydney should deal with the threat of kresienger and bridge, they do not offer anything, the biggest threat maybe hersi, but still can be managed by the structure of the defence. Ono needs to be absolutely on top of his game to pose the threat that he can.

The other question is of tactics.....,

Do they press us hard to start? Do they sit back and absorb? Do we do either of those two? I seriously can't answer these, but feel we have the composure to build pressure as the game goes on. Can we take our chances as I think we will create the majority of them??!!

Feeling good and will say a 2-0 win and a 4 point break on top!

Can't agree with you Scoobs. Their central defence has been a revelation. Their fullbacks are far more suspect.

Mooy and Ono are also top draw.....and some would argue better than our centre mids. Hersi is a real danger as he was in the first game of the season.

I do agree that they are lightweight up front.

Overall they are a massive challenge in top form....but we can and should beat them if he are switched on.

Agree with this.

We definitely need to be switched on. Don't want to see this happening unless it is us scoring another six.

Apologies for the vomit-inducing commentary by Harper.

I don't think they will play through us too often, (unless we are exhausted) we're just too well drilled. I don't really feel the same questions over their defence as you guys, I personally think our biggest issue will be in breaking them down, and retaining possession. They will press hard, be less tired, and very likely more physical. How the referee handles this could well have a very significant impact on the game and potentially result. That said, Popovich is a hard man, but unlike Kosmina, will still be there to play football. So expecting a tight, tense and cracking affair.

Predict Bernie, Dutchy, Hutch in. Mile, Ando, Ollie out. Frustrating as I really want to see Duke start alongside Danny, but it doesn't fit too well with our 4231. Unless Danny drops deep, but then Bernie misses out...

IT"S GAME DAY PEOPLE!!! AND NOT JUST ANY OL GAME DAY!!!! THIS ONE'S HUGE!!!

FIRE THE FARK UPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

Has anyone swum past Blue tongue today?
I think the track might be slow for the speedsters much to my disappointment.

Still going to be a good one.
Thinking 1-0 our way, second half.

Shouldnt the crowd be in the 19,000's?

. should it be? yes

. will it be? unfortunately ... probably not. there will be people holding tickets that won't go - particularly if the rain continues and they are 'seated' in the open

. plus i don't know how the 'mariners mates' thing is handled and what effect it will have on numbers. for example if they 'withhold' a certain number from general sale ... and then that allocation isn't filled because people don't want to be turned away at the gate so don't bother going down

. could still technically be a sellout without having 20k there
