Fantastic.....we were great. What a welcome return to form. That was as good as we have played at BT all year.

We didn't have a single bad player. We played excellent controlled Football and our shape and organization was great for the first time since Matty Simon left.

Pasfield 7.5. One brilliant reflex save was worth my admission money alone.
Pedj 7. Good game and got better as the game went on. So glad he signed for 2 more years.
Rose 8. Possibly his best game of the year. Outstanding.
Wilko 7. Very solid.
Dutchy 7.5. What a professional, what a header and what a Champion....going around the pitch after the game on his own shaking hands with all the fans. A legend on and off the pitch.
WeeMac 8. missed a sitter again but what fantastic feet, what quality when running at defenders. A top class performance.
Giffiths 8. Back to form with a bang. A dominant game from the big man.
Rojic 8.5 I would have brought him on after 60 mins....thank god I'm not the coach. He was superb and his confidence is now sky high. His distribution and vision was first class. His finish was world class. Definately good enough to start week in week out. My MOM. Sign him to a 3 year deal now!
Hutcho 7. Professional display.
Sutton 7.5. Great debut. Totally instrumental in our improved shape and performance. Lovely control and a genuine target man. Very very exciting signing.
Kwas 7. Quite good at times.

Subs.
McBreen. 7. Enjoyed himself tonight and contributed well again.
Bernie 7. Should have started for mine. Striking up a good partnership with Sutton already.
Hearfield...not on long enough to judge.

MOM
3 pts Rojic
2 pts Wee Mac
1pt Griffiths and Rose

Sums it all up prefectly I think Wonbat. :goodpost:

I looked at our bench tonight, and went, Bernie, McBreen, Hearfield? That's the best bench we've ever had.
And we still have Ollie and Musti coming back. Holy shit? I mean really, HOLY SHIT! This is the kind of depth we have NEVER had before.

Bring on Asia.

How I saw the players today
Pasfield: kept a clean sheet which will please him with one particularly good save. We will, though, welcome back Mat Ryan next weekend.
Bojic: immense, for a man under a fitness cloud just kept going and going.
Rose: Very good in the first half, much like his old self and perhaps should have done better with a run and shot in the second half.
Wilkinson: read the game well as ever; pretty solid
Zwaanswijk: ditto Wilko but added the crucial clinching goal
Griffiths: totally dominant in the first half; when he controls the game so do we
Hutchinson: undoubtedly his finest season and was everywhere today
Rogic: the Tailor – enough said.
Sutton: all eyes were on him today. Nowhere near as athletic as Matty Simon but holds the ball up really well and given time his lay offs will be better hit. Makes the Mariners play the ball on the deck which can only be good.
Kwasnik: very lively , didn’t play badly but just struggled to get the finishing touch today
Bernie: lively and difficult for Wellington, they had to resort to fouling to hold him in check; another who needs a goal
McBreen: brought us back into it when we had lost our way. Seems to be really enjoying his football.
Hearfield: not on long enough to make any impression
Mcglinchey not playing today.

I am happy. Last nights performance was worth the price of admission and more. Beautiful crisp passing, wonderful movement of the ball and intent across the park. I don't think I could fault one player on the pitch tonight. It bodes well for some players that Holger was watching last night. Could we be expecting a call up for some?

McGlinchey oozes class and I am glad we have him for another two years at least. Sutton was solid and the perfect replacement for Matt. Big solid and strong with some mongrel about him. A solid debut. Roystyn was fantastic with his vision and distribution last night. Let's hope we can keep him as well. And Rogic, what can you say. This kid has star written all over him. I really hope we can find some way to keep him, at least for another season. Maybe it's something the Russians can assist with.

The question is based on last nights performance how do you fit Musti and Ollie back in the squad after a game like that? The only way I could see it happening is pushing Rogic up front with Sutton, Amini in for Rogic and Hutch on the bench for Ollie. Nice problems to have. A full fit and awesome squad.

Not sure if we played very good or they played very bad maybe a bit of both...

Tomas Rogic ... what a player I tho he was the difference he totally controlled the centre of the park and from there we moved... will be interesting to see if Musty can get back his number 10 shirt and we now have two kids looking to be Australia's next number 10.

Was talking last and we wonder aloud if we played Musty as the number 10 and Tomas a striker ... in a 4 4 1 1 combination with Sutton playing back to goal and passing back to Tomas and other mids coming tho..

Good summary Wombat, but I wouldn`t get too carried away with that performance as I think Wellington played very poorly in the first half & only marginally better in the second.

I`m concerned that we eased off & let the Nix back into the game when we Rogic scored. We just can`t afford to do that & it`s an area of our game that needs more attention.

Sutton:- showed plenty of promise. He has some nice touches, holds the ball up well & in completely unfazed with a defender at his back.Bernie will learn a lot from this guy.

Hutcho:- Didn`t impress me today. He gave the ball away to easily & on two occasions put us under pressure in the back third.

Rose:- I agree it was easily his best game of the season.

Rogic: this kid is pure class.Sign him to a lifetime contract.Sorry to say but he makes Musti look ordinary with his past 2 performances.

The pitch yesterday looked awful.
The management of BT have to be kidding themselves.A damn disgrace!

Finally,if Delovski is our best referee our game has serious problems. To yellow card Sutton was no better than the deal Perez got.It just stunk of the ref stamping his authority on the new guy, especially after he let the tackle on Rose go.

No offence to you midfielder as this spray is aimed at opposition supporters. I am getting sick of Brisbane, Sydney, Victory, Heart and Nix supporters all saying that it was their team playing badly when they get beaten. What about giving credit to the Mariners for forcing them to play badly.

McGlinchey was virtually unstoppable and Welly couldn't get the ball off him. If he could shoot he would be the player of the year. :innocent:

Great result at just the right time, with plenty of excitement in store for the future. Areas we could improve: The ball is often going out to Rose from where he is left with little option but to try and drive past defenders. I'd like to see more support for him, which may come when Ollie is back, to make some triangles and create more angle options for that killer ball into the box. Pedj's first touch is somewhat agricultural and when Bernie is on Pedj doesn't often see him moving into good space as he always seems to be aiming at the far post.
Sutton needs a couple more games before we can assess him. Our central midfield is superb, defence solid, reserve keeper reliable. End of season slump begone!

scoring is the only thing missing from his game,if he was scoring as well as playing the way he is he would probably be playing at a higher level.hes my player of the year so far anyway

He has been awesome so farbhis year and appears to be getting better as the season comes into the finals race. Easily player of the year has to be Matt Ryan though.
