Going to get a flogging for saying this but I'd give Porter another chance at RB, he knows just like everyone he had a shocker against Newcastle. In his defence he hadn't played RB all year (incl youth) and then was asked to jump in and do a job, sadly for him for didn't play at his best. First 2 games of the year he did 'ok' at CB, a position which certainly isn't his strongest and I personally remember him playing RB many times and doing well, in particular his crossing and work rate.

Wilko is a CB, we need him there IMHO, I don't know enough about Oates to comment as I've only seen 2 youth games this year, everyone needs a chance, perhaps he's good enough perhaps he's not, Arnie can decide that.

Porter----Wilko----Dutchy------Rose
-------------Griffiths
--WeeMac-----------------Hutch
--------------Rogic
-------Kwas----------McBreen

I don't like McBreen up front, I much prefer him off the bench to throw some muscle around in the final 20 mins, if Sutton is fit, ready and good enough throw him in to start. Defences don't know anything about him, it could work in our favour?

I also thought Ibini looked more desperate coming off the bench, again I'd leave him there for this 1.

I agree. Porter needs another chance but i'd be doubtfull about giving it to him in this game. Maybe the midweek game against GCU

I would love to see him get another chance and carve. He is far from my favourite player but I think this week is the ideal time to bring him in at RB. I just think the kid (is he a kid anymore) has a serious case of the yips and once he gets past that will make a very decent squaddie.

Yep you do deserve a flogging for that!! Played there twice and cost us two games. Porter is a decent squaddie but NOT as a makeshift defender......never again.

Sutton should definately start. We have been completely toothless without Simon and he should prove a big step up from our current strikers. I would definately start Bernie with him. The two best strikers start....simple as.

If that team starts we will win.

Lovely bloke and a decent midfielder but he is not a defenders arse.

Its not his fault he has been asked to play out of position but Arnie should cut his losses and leave well alone.

I have no problem with Porter at RB. Anyone who has watched for 7 seasons will know him as competent there. He has played this position almost exclusively with the Mariners even though he was a junior midfielder.

Playing him there will allow Wilko to remain CB and Hutchi to be LM.

Play players in their correct positions rather than pull the team aroun to cover one gap.

Sorry, but I'm entirely with Wombat on this one. Brad is an able midfielder and very likeable mariner, but, and being kind, the pressure of defence has proved very much beyond him this year. He has had his chances, and with them has made multiple critical, unforced, errors. We are not home yet. And there's a lot on the line and to play for, and based purely on performances, Brad does not merit a start imo.

If Pedj is anything but full fitness. I'd be looking at Hearfield to RB.

I don't think he's ever looked comfortable at RB Ancient. His best performances at RB were when we were on the front foot and he was playing far more like an RM. I've watched him all seven, and your right, he has had a couple of bright patches, but players have to be judged on current performances, and sadly this year I believe he has clearly been our worst player.

If Pedj is fit then of course he's automatic first choice, if Sainsbury wasn't suspended then automatic second choice, but if both are out I don't understand why you'd play someone there who has trained all season as a striker or attacking midfielder? He'd need to adapt to his new role very quickly and if he had a bad game wouldn't some people be on his back very quickly!

Oh and Wombat he played there once this year he was thrown in as a CB for the first 3 rounds of the year, he hardly cost us that game against Scum at home we only deserved a point tbh. Definitely cost us the 1 nil loss up there.

At the end of the day Arnie makes the decisions, he hasn't made too many bad 1's (except signing Baird) so whatever team he puts out there he has faith in as will I.

If we get 6 points out if the next 2 games we could be 10 clear again, COYY

Porter seems a very decent young man and has been very loyal to the club .. maybe to loyal as he has IMO always looked better as right mid than right back... but for whatever reasons he has only on few times got to play right mid... He has stuck by the club and tried to play RB... but at RB he is a very good state league player but is he up to A-League Hal 7 standard at RB and I think not...

Consider who he will be marking ... Ifill ... who is arguably one of the best in the League ... Porter marking Ifill if I were coach I would not take the chance...

Interesting that Gallagher was suspended in NYL - normally suspensions only apply in the same competition - anyone shed any light on this?
