On paper they have a slightly better team but mossy finally meets someone who is worse than him.

We can win this if mossy doesn't
f**k it up.
There's a song in that.
Every time Mossy stands up to ineffectually yell at somebody:
"Stand UUUUUUUUUPPPP, if you'll f*** it up......."

Won't even get to watch much of this one, though that could be a good thing.... bit worried about the crowd too.

Same team as last week with Fabio in for duke.

Misses said CCM Insta not posted team sheet last two weeks.

No Anderson on bench

Same bench with both kids

I'm enjoying this. Positive forward play, some great through balls and vision in the front third and Ferriera is proving his worth already, involved in some good stuff.

roar could have punished us once it twice but haven't and despite not having made too many clear chances I feel we're unlucky not to be up.

Some dubious ref calls as we fully expected.

Fabio been great. Will be good when match fit. Bit worried we were going to him to much.

We got sloppy right on half time again so lucky not to be punished.

Roux looks better with a proper winger to work with.

The team seemed to play with some confidence when Ferreira was on and when he went off we went down hill. Maybe just coincidence.

Mariners pay the Penalty, Twice
Never play Brisbane in Gosford; I have never known a side get so many breaks against the Mariners as the Roar over the ten years of the A-League. Two penalties today sum up their good fortune. Phil Moss made only one change: new signing Fabio Ferreira for the departed Mitchell Duke.
Some of the football from the Mariners in the first half was quite superb; Ferreira seemed to have inspired Caceres back to form; Montgomery was picking off everything in midfield. The Mariners were looking good for a goal but this was like a Burlesque show: lots of teasing, tantalising and titillation but everything had yet to come off.
Hutchinson had a great chance to score but headed straight at Theo; Solorzano brought a save from Reddy at the near post. On the half hour when Theo flapped at a cross Caceres just could not control the shot which tamely went back to the keeper. Bosnar had a free kick easily taken by Theo. Reddy than did his best to give Broich a goal but the German genius was too slow and red-faced Reddy survived.
The Mariners had played a lot of confident football but still missed the final touch and within three minutes of the restart were made to pay. A ball bounced up and hit Bosnar’s outstretched arm; he certainly wasn’t trying to play at it but in modern football these are often given as a penalty and so it was with Kris Griffiths-Jones. Solórzano’s penalty brooked no argument as it banged into the back of the net.
It was tough luck on the Mariners but they had played well enough in the first half to get an equaliser but instead of rallying they become unsteady, Reddy had to come sharply off his line to clear, and Brisbane began to stroll through the game. Major came on for Ferreira, who had done much to excite the crowd but it was Brisbane again who threatened, a wicked free kick from Brattan extending Reddy. And then Reddy did well to come out and block Borello. The Mariners were still to have a shot at goal.
Kalik came on for Hutchinson and finally, with just ten minutes to go, the Mariners had a shot as Fitzgerald fired over from a Matt Simon lay off. Sim came on for Caceres, who was much improved from last week, and from his free kick Fitzgerald headed wide. Major had a half-chance at the far post but it was blocked. And then came the final insult; Kalik trying to play out, lost the ball, and brought down Broich. Debutant Kaludjerovic made it 2-0 from the spot. A tough lesson for young Kalik.
After a bright first half the Mariners all but disappeared in the second; they had no answer after Brisbane’s fortunate opener. Scoring in a brothel might be a challenge to these guys.
My MoM is Nick Montgomery who was back to his PacMan chomping best with some added sparkle going forward, just shading a gutsy performance from Jacob Poscoliero. Ferreira did well enough and will get better when match fit.

Firstly I'd like to give credit to the active support who were very loud and lively tonight.

We started well and were the better side for 70% of the first half. Ferreira looked very good and almost everything came from him. Then after some brilliant half time tactical talk we came out with 11 men behind the ball and resolutely decided not to create anything or move off the ball.
Rose made one break and found himself to be the only Mariner in the Brisbane half so obviously with zero options he lost the ball.
We then conceeded but instead of trying to equalise we became even more defensive. Brilliant tactics!

Reddy 7.5. Some superb saves otherwise it would have been 4.0.
Storm 6. Some improvement but still scratchy.
Rose 6. A least he had a go.
Posco 8. MOM. Easily his best game in a Yellow Jersey. Excellent and some nice passing tonight.
Bosnar 6. Ok.
Monty 7.5. His tacking was magnificent.
Caceras 6. Linked well with Fariera in first half but faded and his movement is a definite worry.
Hutcho 5.5. Average. Some poor passing and poor touch when through on goal.
Fitz 6. Work rate good but decision making average again.
Ferreira 6.5. Nice Cameo. Looks the goods.
Simon 6. Average.

Mossy needs to go. There is no plan B at all and if Plan C is Matt Sim then we are in trouble.

3pts...Posco
2pts...Monty
1pt...reddy

yeah I don't think Moss did much wrong tonight, i like Hutch in a more advanced role - we're more regularly getting forward and it seems to free up the legendary Monty to do what he does best. as well as warming Kalik/Rose up for the future. the line up and tactics worked for me and that first period was confident and schmick - all but a goal.

still need a zwaanswijk or sainsbury (rare gems I know) beside posco. it would stabilise the team and stop the slop that occurred in the 2nd half.

honestly I don't care about results for a while as long as we don't wooden spoon the season. all I care about is building into quality for the future at the moment. that first half and the influence of Ferriera, combined with some of the youth we have budding, is showing some promise and the results should come in time.

2 questions -
1. the booing at the end. I left the stadium pretty much after the whistle and I could hear the booing was continuing from outside - was it directed at the decisions/luck of the game or were peeps booing the team do you think?

2. who should we have on the bench? Mossy knows what goes on in training and has his tactics and cover positions in mind obviously but is sim really our best option from who we have?
when Vernes is back he needs to be in consideration but otherwise the starting 11 seems about set so what thoughts on deserving sub options?

and finally great read there Roy, enjoyed your match report. impressed at how quickly you fired that out too

Boos from my bay were directed squarely at Kris Griffiths Juggs, anyone else ever noticed his C-cups bouncing about on the field??
