Mariners V Perth

For mine I wouldn`t change the starting line up.

A start in the first team should be fought for, not just handed over so someone can have a rest.

We`ve just got into second place for F..k`s sake.
Why risk losing that?

If the player`s need a rest, schedule a rest day instead of training.
Take them down the beach, have a team BBQ, a cricket match or boat cruise or something but don`t switch the team around & lose our momentum.

If there`s an injury, that`s different kettle of fish.

No team in this league is easy. A loss to Perth could have a serious affect on morale (team & supporters)

What sort of crowd are we going to get for Sydney FC if we lose?
A damn sight less than if we win that`s for sure.

Play your best team at all times & show some respect for the shirt & the fans!!

I definitely see where you are coming from style cafe, but I think the guys need a rest.

I'm sure that there hasn't been much training recently, but rather it would just be Clarkey making sure that recovery is happening correctly.

Everyone across the league has been making comment on how there are too many fixtures in a short space of time and the fact that team need(imo) to rest players shows that the season needs to be played over a longer period.

It is a bit of a risk to rest players but its a bigger risk not to rest them. I would rather have a loss to Perth and a fit squad than finish 2nd and have an injury list like Newcastle.

Sainsbury is a right back, not a left back. While he is a young player I wouldn't play him out of position. I'd go with.....

-----------Ryan

Sainsbury Wilko Doig Pedj

-----------Hutch
Weemac--------------Lewis
-----------Amini

------Baird-----Simon

Bench: Hendo, McBreen, Gallagher, Fitzy

Not much point in taking current 1st XI players just to sit on the bench. We know Pedj is capable of playing at LB and I think Gallagher and Fitzy are good enough to make the bench.

I wouldn't take Pedj or Griff if he isn't going to start. Its very possible that we will need Simon to come off the bench and score the winner or Griff to link defence and attack but unless our defence starts leaking like a sieve, there would be no real advantage in having the other two on the bench.

It would be a huge shake up to rest 3 of our starting back 4, so I would keep Pedj in the starting team and considering Sainsbury has given some encouraging performances this year, Pedj could have a rest in another game (Sydney or Jets?)

-------------Ryan--------------

Pedj---Wilko---Doig---Sainsbury?

------------Hutch--------------

----Glinch---------Bozanic----

------------Amini------------

------McBreen--------Baird---

Bench
Simon
Griff
Lewis
Henderson

Can Sainsbury play left side? Or do we throw either Lewis or Bozanic at LB? With Warren leaving, I see it as the one position where we don't have any real cover, am I forgetting someone?

I wouldn't mind seeing Glinch or Boz having a rest so Mallia/Lewis can get a start. Would love to see Duke get a run as well.

I love the fact that we have so many people we feel can do a job for us. Perhaps we have unrealistic expectations of our untried youths?

Lewis was very suspect when given a run at LB.

Sainsbury RB and Pedj to the left.

Is this the game to start Bernie...
I am a 100% sure that he will not start!
I doubt he will make the trip...
Looks like Kwassie is ouut leaving Simon, McBreen and Baird.
Personally I would start Baird and McBreen...and leave Simon on the bench. Maybe Bernie might be on the bench instead...who knows?
But Baird and McBreen are 100% ahead of Bernie (despite me liking Bernie more)

Sorry Style, but with the scheduling as it is - if we want to keep our true starting 11 on the pitch for the bulk of our remaining games, then we have to rest players and be smart.

If say any 3 of the following - Dutchy, Perez, Matty, Weemac, Olly, Pedj or Rose were to pull hammies now or strain calfs and be out for weeks - it could likely cost us anything from a top two finish and a great shot at the toilet seat to a spot in the ACL. A three week odd injury like many calf strains are would see them miss pretty much ALL of our remaining games.

Losing against Perth is NOT what we want. And I'm sure we'll be aiming to win - but will likely not grumble about a point. But in risk analysis, dropping three points now and possibly losing some potential fans for the next game ( which personally I think is negligible) would be of considerably less risk over all.

Also I think the pride in the shirt should not be doubted Style or indeed questioned - these boys have just played three games in the last week. From which they took 7 points - beating our Derby rivals away and completely battering if not actually beating the arguably best performing team of all time in the HAL and some are arguing ever in Aus.

And on a larger scale, they will be playing their 8th game in 30 odd days on Wednesday - Thats a game - less than every four days. It's very impressive to have done what we have done - but with that kind of schedule - we surely need to be smart now and have our eyes firmly fixed on the big picture.

I fully support resting players who are carrying niggling injuries or are struggling with our schedule. It will be very, very interesting to see our starting 11. At the end of the day, where we finish on the table will not be determined this week. Our games against Adelaide and GC will sort that out.

Extremely tough game given the circumstances. A draw will do me then come out all guns against Sydney for a big home win.

That's the European professionalism in him. Bred to play many games.

What a champ!

. considering how most people thought he got tired and went missing last year it demonstrates what a year he has had ... with no off-season

. i can't remember him missing a minute all season ... all credit to the wee fella and no doubt to clarkie as well. i don't know how much it has to do with his european-ness ... from what i understand he wasn't playing that much in europe - and besides he is a kiwi :p

Central Coast coach Graham Arnold will rest two of his key defenders Patrick Zwaanswijk and Joshua Rose for tomorrow's catch-up away game with Perth Glory. The coach said he might even give Argentinian Patricio Perez a break and start young midfielder Mustafa Amini. "We'll see tomorrow morning," Arnold said.

"We're looking at the bigger picture. Patrick has an achilles injury and Josh a quad injury. The travel comes into play. We have another five games and we want them ready for Sunday's match

We really dominate this fixture.

With Dutchy rested say Doig has a blinder and scores a few and makes some game changing challenges at the back. Is Dutchy that good he goes straight back in Doigs place on Sunday?

and we have the worse referee in the a-league by a fair margin

the guy is a loose cannon and anything could happen

hopefully in our favour

Now that is a tag I would not like.

I think Gerard Parsons is worse, at least Shepheard calls it when (he thinks) he sees it.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with Mick either as the problem with most of the new breed is they are erratic. Kris Griffiths Jones is one who is not - but he is consistently poor to average, relying on 'black letter of the law' decisions.

The Gillett's in QLD seem good prospects.

Good news is that the best referee is back - after a long recovery from a car accident - Srebre Delovski is due to be in the middle for the Heart vs Gold Coast game tomorrow.
