Mariners v Fowler FC

Based on their respective performances last week, its a no brainer really.

I agree. I think Travis has torn a heartilage and should be benched until he figures himself out.

Bojic in midfield scares the crap out of me but I can live with that side.

Kwas wide - go on my son

Travis deserves the punt for his performance against the nux. Wee Mac has been anonymous recently.

Why the double standards.

I disagree...

Porter has been terrible for a month (apart from last game) as has Boogs.

He struggled in his new role first half of the season... but has been  solid in the last four and was the best on park last game and now he gets to play in his actual position. I can easily understand why he is included.

Kwas has been shit last few games.

And was dropped to youth accordingly?

Hutch...hot and cold.

Hot and cold? Bizarre. Aside from Danny and Wilko he has probably been our most consistent player this season.

WeeMac...not fantastic.

No, not fantastic, not bloody anything unfortunately... not involved and no impact in the last 6 games. Pretty significant issue for our number 10 position.

Simon and Mrdja toothless.

Simon hasn't been toothless... he's been downright bloody awful, but hopefully he's hit rock bottom, and gotten the worst out of his system now.

Mrdja?

If we can let go of the past for ten seconds, has actually been the only striker showing a glimmer of teeth of late I think.

Bojic horrendous in 2 or his last three outings.

Disagree, excepting when he horrendously slid in - before that he was doing a decent job at the back last week - and we missed his pressing and immense work rate in the mids.

Clarky...very very average.

Have only seen him give the ball away once, and seen him beaten twice since he has been getting starts. Not bad for a squad member playing out of position - also fit - good work rate - great attitude.

Travis has been our best player for a month has one shit game and everyone wants to punt him.

Weird to say the least.

Did you honestly vote Travis as our best on park last 4 games? I'd find that much weirder? Was decent in the first two losses, and had a really great "half" a few games ago... but _Clearly_ struggled in the last two. His touch has been surprisingly bad of late, his passes strangely even worse and his decision making... Just been getting it plain wrong. Hard to understand. Plenty of talent, but has clearly been off his game and in his own head. And not once this season - even in his standout games has yet established himself as a 90 minute player.

Punt him? Hell no. On the bench? Fair place for him this week imo.

I must be barking, because I think its very clear why we have lost the last five and I'm not talking about sweeping bullshit comments like, they don't want to win and no ones trying garbage...

I don't think there is any coincidence that our key three off season signings are  - Doig injured, Weemac going missing since coming back from NZ and Travis touch and passing falling apart lately... But they're both young, so their inconsistency should not be a surprise really. Then when you throw in Boogs slump, Heff with his head in the clouds for a couple of games - due to their respective transfers - and our strikers (mostly) missing gilt edged chances.. it really accounts for it all I think.

I don't lay the majority of blame at Lawries door at all. I'm sure there are things he could be doing better, always... but if the self same squad that started wowing everyone 9 weeks ago, then slumps... Unless there were some drastic squad changes, then clearly its instead a player form issue, and not most likely directly a coaching problem. (Though it also of course then becomes a squad depth option - which is why I think we have been shuffling the same four or five odd cards and hoping for a different hand that of course never appears.)

So if its a form issue...

What the team need above all is confidence and belief.

Which is great.

As its the one thing we as supporters can truly help with.

SO FIRE THE f**k UP EVERYONE AND GET BEHIND THEM THIS WEEK!

If the back line can tighten and become a cohesive team again. Midfield move the ball forward quicker and with more daring. And most importantly - strikers  find the net... We can still win enough of our remaining games to make the six and see if we can't shake the crap out of the ol apple cart in the finals.

:eek:verhead:  :grouphug: :vhappy: :pirashoot: :pirate: :headbounce:

Travis and/or Wee Mac are supposed to provide the creativity, the spark to make things happen and to be fair to them they havent been recently. In fact I am trying to think of a game that Wee Mac has dominated (and I cant).

We are crying out for someone to provide what Tommy (and to a lesser extent Gumps) could. Namely, put their foot on the ball and provide that 1 piece of magic that can change a game.

If these 2 arent at the moment, its back to what we know and do well. Pressure, hard work and sheer effort.

And bingo was his namo.

My wife, who doesn't follow football (this version of football anyway), made the comment during last match "why aren't the Mariners getting in the defenders' faces like the Kiwis are doing to us?".
If it's that obvious to someone who knows diddley-squat about football, then it's BLOODY obvious.
We let the opposition defenders just walk the ball back to the half before we start to get at them. Our strikers & AMs need to pressure in their half, not wait until our half. On the few occasions when we have got in their faces, they've made mistakes. Two prime examples are the 15-second goal last time we played Fury and Travis' soft goal from Moore's mistake when we played Brisbane.
One of the reasons our defence has become a bit leaky is the same thing - their forwards aren't letting our backs get an easy out from defence, thus bringing about mistakes.

Has LM found a new scapegoat now he's shafted Gumps?
Did you notice that the Express Advocate always had a photo of Gumps on the back page after the TEAM failed? That really pissed me off. I wonder who cops it now?

McKinna seems to play favourites - Like Gumps who was benched when out of favour, Sasho was also benched late last season after he indicated he will go elsewhere. McKinna should be professional enough to put matters like this aside and field the best players in the interests of the team's succes, the franchise and the fans.

His excuse last year for the run of losses late last year was that the team "peaked too early"- what garbage. After last game it was the team that "lacked spark". (Always someone else's fault and a vague excuse).
Finally he accepted responsibilty recently by saying he had broad shoulders-about bloody time.

Nah hate anything to do with Manly.  Everton supporter pre Cahill?  As a Toffee you wouldn't have really seen many decent players over the last decade so no wonder you have dodgy judgement.

After the MV game went to Mac'ers on the way home and got talking to a bunch of Tards... we asked them who in our side they would you buy ... who would you like to send to Sydney..

They wanted Matty, weeMac & Travis.... they wanted to sent to Sydney ....  Porter, Bojic & Clark...

Oh so its not just me that can see the obvious then.

'Fear not said Lawrie for mighty dread had seized their troubled minds. Glad tidings of great joy I bring. To you and all mankind - Chris Doig is back!'

Clark at left back just like a supermarket trolley with wonky wheels: can only turn to the left as the left peg is immobile.

Kwaz out wide? Good. The wider the better; preferably somewhere near Wamberal. (Actually I think he should be playing in the 'hole' just behind Simon and Mrdja in the diamond).

. but from recent officiating all they will get is disillusionment and dispair. as said before the officiating hasn't directly cost us goals (nor stopped us creating scoring opportunities) but i reckon it effects form

Why does Boog's get a spot? Why Clark? Why Simon? They were all f**kin horrible against the nix

F**kin pathetic IMO
Maybe you should have another look at who played against the nix (one of those mentioned above wasn't even on the field.)

Perhaps you are just a bit pissed off because he is leaving. :naughty:

No, pissed off his form is shite. I am fully aware he didn't play and also fully aware he was playing absolutely shite before that. Just a typo on my part. Sorry.

Don't care that he is leaving and good luck to him, he deserves the chance to cement a regular spot at CB somewhere else but FFS lets hope he leaves the place with the reputation he deserves and not with a whimper.

Its all getting a tad emotional on here isnt it?

I am practicing for Saturday

We're winning at home
We're winning at home
how shit must you be
We're winning at home

(This isnt a negative, its taking the piss out of the other side before anyone has a go)

I reckon we are odds on for this and even though the crowd will be low, it will be a victory for the true believers.

I'll be there as well, full of hope as usual.
However, how long has it been since God scored? It hope he's not due yet!!

Well, as long as we score one more than them then God is welcome to score.

Gee it would be nice to see an impressive performance from the Mariners at home.

Just having Doig in the back line will make a huge difference to our defence. It been utter shit without him.

couldn't agree more....he's in my Fantasy League team so I'd be happy for him to score half a dozen as long as we score at least one more.....

i dont care who wins, part of me wants me to see the fuzzies get up, just so the written off newbies can bite their critics in the arse, a goal fest, a good hard struggle, ANYTHING to get me out of this lull, almost withdrawal symptom like
