ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Okon's team had better possession and would definitely have had more wins with better luck...
but the play was predictable, the same passing patterns regardless of what was actually going on in a game.
We were declining steadily as oppositions easily unraveled Plan A (excluding Sydney oddly), declining until Okon walked the plank and we crashed into an 8-2 season finale.

We started this season far worse - and are still on track for our worst ever season - but it is clear to everyone that we are improving every game (finally and hopefully not temporarily).
Actual progress. I'll take that for now.

Drastic times call for drastic action... I suggest a forum 11 present for selection by MM.... my hand goes up for the """6""" TB in goals with wombat on the wings as our hit man or say Roy Kearne type...

PJ up front and captain, Recky as the holding CB ...

Need more suggestions... FFC as the """10""' Forum Phoenix on the other wing from wombat ...

We weren’t dangerous at all and that cost us. Teams realised they wouldn’t be punished for waiting us out and taking their chance when they got the ball. We made chances but never finished them. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him do better next gig if he has a decent striker.

Our midfield is getting close to as good as it's getting this season with incoming Jem and Oar recovering (hopefully).

We will still lose winnable games without a decent GK and striker, and perhaps CB although Aspro has really shored things up for us there

I don’t know what they are but I think Matty’s shooting stats wouldn’t be too pretty. And if you took headers out...

LOL. I'm more of a Kevin Muscat with the speed, fitness and touch of Pedj. (edit I now have the fitness and speed of Offsider)

Btw Recky will have to be assistant coach. If he has to head the ball his head might fall off! (The sand bars of Avoca were not very kind to his spinal column)

Simon is already equal to our golden boot winner last year. Now I’m far from a Simon fan and am not saying his haul so far has been great but it happened through a time we were chasing all the wrong records. If that doesn’t highlight how useless we were in the final third last year I don’t know what does.

Why take the headers out? That's his game.

Unlike some others I like Matty this season and I'd be happy to keep him - but he's not the high-scoring striker we need.

I just said ‘“if” and only because it would dramatically highlight how much he’s struggling with the ball at his feet.

I like Matty and think he’s bleeding yellow on the park and also mostly leading well out there...

But he’s not scoring anywhere near enough goals, he receives balls in great advanced areas but is easily chased down and forced to turn and any chance to counter or attack is broken, he cannot make a yard for himself in or around the box to get off a shot, and a starting striker who hardly ever gets a shot off with his feet is always a concern.

Players like Cahill or Crouch still would consistently work the keeper with their feet. The way Matty plays suits an extra striker coming on last 15-20 when you’re chasing a game. Not as a staring 11 striker in this league right now. Wish it was otherwise, but that’s how I see it.
