Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

Welcome to the forum mate look forward to reading your contributions. Unfortunately Aspro and Golec won't be ready by the game against Adelaide and there is apparently a lot of concern regarding getting Cisse's visa in time. I fear our defence will be very make shift, who is the Academy right/left back?

Aspro might be.

Welcome to the forum Antlion.

The writer says that that 3-4-3 flat is Mulvey's preferred formation, and that is what Transfermarket says as well. However, when we spoke to Mike on the day he was announced he seemed to intimate that he is more pragmatic than that and would design formation/s around the players that he has. One thing I will say is that he is not particularly a fan of long ball play.

Given that a lot of managers these days like to have two players for each position I really don't think we have the squad that fits this formation. Thinks may change in the coming weeks but I can't see us go with other than a back four.

What I saw was more of a 3-4-2-1 which will quickly become a 5-4-1 when defending.

From what I saw we lined up as :

Kennedy
McGing Cisse Rowles
Berry Hoole Melling Clisby
McGlinchey Pain
Simon

Others coming back from injury were involved in training but this could be the line up we'll be looking at in the FFA Cup

Good grief, that back 3 will get murdered by most NPL sides let alone AL

Berry right wing back... how did he look? Better on the ball than McGing and probably better suited to getting up and down the line as frequently?

Partly explains / helps with the depth

But in this league with our squad we will spend a lot of time playing 541. And will need a striker suitable/able to counter attack and sign some more defensive cover too.

Jesus, will we even have a team?

I don’t think jesus is listening :grouphug:............... but I will try to fill in for him :innocent:............... NO ????.......... no team ....... but we should have enough players to not forfeit the game ........ sorry, it’s the merlot making me more sarcastic than usual.

But don’t worry ............ there is still two months till the real season starts......... and just enough time for the crocks cut from other teams to come good.

Jesse Canning has left the backroom staff unfortunately. Decided to pursue a career in events management. Was a champion bloke and will be missed around the club!

Quentin Cheng has been playing right back mostly - I very much like the look of him, definitely does well at that level. Whether he’s good enough to cut the mustard at AL level, time will tell...
