Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The cynical part of me thinks the real reason MC is sanctioning a move for another striker is that the club is in danger of not spending the cap floor now Asdrubal has done a runner.

Makes me wonder if Walmsley era end of season bonuses might be on the table if the club can’t sign someone before the end of the window??
Well didn't Prior Peter offer to dust his boots off the other week?
Probably get him on minimum wage.

Would he need a reason to sanction a striker with money already allocated to the budget to spend? It's in his best interests for us to succeed, he just needs that to be within a structure that's also sustainable. He's stated that openly and clearly.

Not meaning to take particular aim at you Ozhammer, but I think Mike deserves a lot better than the cynicism I routinely see and hear around the traps and the assigning of his motives as always greed and or no good.

Think there's a lot we should be grateful for myself.

I agree. Having heard Mike speak at a few fans forums I think he deserves some credit.
After all there's no need for him to own a football club at all.

Yes, he’s made mistakes, and I’ve criticised him on those like others, but if he’s all about money, with the whole just in it for the real estate blah blah. There are an abundance of easier and more lucrative real estate deals around if that had always been his objective.

Anyway back on topic. They believe there are a lot of goals in the side, but present attacking stocks have not matched that assessment.

Are people hoping to see Skapetis get a run up front or Trent?

Should we be moving heaven and earth to get another quality striker?

Or making the best of what we have and putting an eye on next year?

Personally I’m a gambling man and if there was anyway it can be managed, I’d like to see another striker brought in

If not, I’m not convinced Powell will score many. So I see no other option but to experiment up top.

Completely obvious that we need a striker.
If we want to act like a povo club we will not make the 6.

Agree, we needed a striker before Adsrubal left, now... problem is I don't think we're 'acting'.

Can't help wondering how much we missed out on Giannou by.

I’d give Skapetis the chance until end of season if we can’t get one. Paulo said he was played out of position at Roar so prove it. He is fit and has A League experience. Bringing in a foreigner now will be difficult unless they are super talented. We can’t afford those guys

Then we know if he deserves a contract for next season.

Melling got a chance and showed his value.

Bingham to. Still hasn’t been released that we know of (was in photo at Julie’s place) and is a flat out striker. Never a winger

This is what pisses me off.
10 minutes to go and a goal down.
Okon says "Bingers, you're a big bloke get on and get stuck in......... on the wing".

He played really well last year when was starting striker at a home game. Can’t remember who we played but gave everything and scored I think.

Now looks like a lost kid at the casino. He sucks on the wing and his confidence there is no existent

Give Skapetis a go and the same amount of leeway we gave Asdrubal. If given consistent playing time up front I think he will flourish. He needs the backing and confidence of a coach.

Powell, Scapetis, Trent and at a stretch Hoole.

Plenty of options.
Skype tis is our only striker.
Our only striker hasn't scored at this level.
Powell is not a striker. Bingham is not. Pain is not. Appiah is not.
At NPL2 they might be. But in the HAL they are not. They might think they are. Okon might too. But there isn't a single player that has me screaming "give him the ball!!"
Hooke isn't, but he at least is an AM. Although even they should be able to score.

Pretty nice strike from Powell.

He is slow which doesn’t suit us but given an early ball with space he did really well in that goal.
