ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Cahill was often on the coast at Avoca when he was back from overseas in his career. Also Sanatarium are his sponsor and have very strong ties to the coast.

If we have not already tied that together and had a shot we certainly have no vision.

I think part of Timmy deal with City was he cannot play for another A-League side.

I think in a lot of teams Timmy can be a distraction. At City there was tension between Bruno and Timmy. You can imagine the same happening at Sydney with Bobo or Victory with Berisha. However, we don't have a dominant striker. We need one, he needs game time to get to Russia. Does it have to be about the money, or does it simply need to be a good fit where he scores the goals we need and he gets game time to ensure he can get to Russia.

No doubt he would put some bums on seats - but at this late stage I think his value there while real is exaggerated.

We've already got both McGing and Baro who have proven that they can use their heads well - do we really need another header? ;)

If I were a gambling man (as opposed to a gamboling man) I would bet heavily against a Cahill signing. I'd be happy enough if we did but not sure how strongly I'd pursue his signature

Whilst I'd written off the Giannou hope it appears no news could be good news...maybe...possibly...also possibly not

I`m no lawyer but I think that could easily be argued as "restraint of trade" & seeing that Cahill hasn`t worked for a while now he would have a decent case.
A comprimise though could be that he doesn`t play against City, we`ve done that before.

While I think it should be full noise ahead aiming for a top flight striker, if we can't get either a Giannou style Australian player for immediate start, or a decent international on a longer term contract, I'm almost happier holding off. If we can bank the balance of Astro's wage and use it to start spending above the floor next year, that may be a better option than signing the wrong player within the Jan window.

But let's hope we make an awesome signing and head into the finals with the wind in our sails.

The cynical part of me thinks the real reason MC is sanctioning a move for another striker is that the club is in danger of not spending the cap floor now Asdrubal has done a runner.

Makes me wonder if Walmsley era end of season bonuses might be on the table if the club can’t sign someone before the end of the window??
