Be 4231 with the 2 being DM's and the wingers dropping to a 4411 when we don't have the ball.

I can see Fabio as a false 9 or another striker who drops

With Kubbi there's no question marks in regards to the speed.
Whereas the hurt bit ?????????

So its 'Entertainment' again.
Same same ......... but different ;)

Yeah i agree with Dibo that i don't find counter attacking football particularly entertaining - but your point isn/t lost on me re that is exactly what our "entertaining football" turned into last year.

It wasn't how we started mind, but bottom line we couldn't keep the ball under pressure - then consistently copped goals on turnovers - so I think we had little option. But I think we have a squad this year much better suited to a solid Counter attacking game. Because really, the first rule of playing counter attacking football is that your defence must be excellent, and Tavares and Faty significantly improve our spine in this regard.

Last year our counter attacking really was just that we had one of the best ball winners in Monty (and i think Posc is very good too) and a couple of fast outlets... so it came about more by default when everything else fell apart rather than design.

All bar two of the squad selected by Young Socceroos head coach Paul Okon are contracted to A-League clubs, with midfielder Dejan Pandurevic, who plays for Manly United in the PlayStation 4 NPL NSW competition, and uncontracted goalkeeper Chris Marques.

Did something go wrong with him when was up here?

Plays a position we need and is on the national radar which is what we aim for. No other club seems interested either but just doesn't make sense unless there is more to it

I'd love to see him back - didn't see much of him here but a few mates that follow Manly really rate him. is basically a CAM but has played predominantly striker for Manly.

Great to see some Mariners representing Australia at youth level. Liam Rose would have to be the most experienced player in that team.
That is a good sign. Both players have so much potential.....if young Rose improves another 10-15 % this season he will be one to watch.

Frane Vladislavić played with Hajduk Split today along side Anthony Kalik. He is a right winger and right back with an Australian passport. Who has played in the Croatian first and second tier along with representing Croatia at youth level. One we should definitely keep an eye on for January or next season.

He played really well yesterday, from all accounts he is waiting (agreed) until Jan/Feb for a certain ex Blades player to obtain citizenship. He started at left back and looked very comfy going forward. I believe from conversations last night that he'll be playing for the youth setup until then. fingers crossed

Sbs reporting Powell will be announced in the morning.
This seasons teamsheet is shaping up to be lot more promising than last seasons

As for Salford kid Giverin, he looks sort of ok.

Watching those vid's of him play in both the Munt'd U18s & Royal Antwerp sides & again now at Manly, Giveren plays/ed mostly as one of x2 DM's on the LHS, in a 4-2-3-1
& of the x2 DM's - he was the 'attacking' one of the x2, pushing into the front 1/3, playing some nice balls through & supporting raids by arriving late at the the top of the box.

After taking that into consideration, why the hell did Walmsley play him at LB the other night at Pluim ???
when we already have Rosey, Micky Neil & Brad McDonald to cover that LB role ??? Add to that ALL x3 of those players are capable of covering the LWing/LAM position along with Budgie & now Connor Pain & a most probable Kubbi (who's a natural right footer BUT prefers to play on the left.)

That's x6 players for the left side of the pitch NOW - ALREADY !
...... chuck Giverin into the mix & that's
x7 players FFS !!!

We really, really need a quality attacking midfielder ..... Giverin could be an option there based on thise vids BUT the big question's we have to ask ourselves:

● Is Giverin really any better than Junior @ AM ?
Can he step up to A-League level ?
● & at what cost, both in wage'$ & the taking of a valuable visa spot ?

That could of possibly have been answered if TW gave him a run at AM there against the Select side, he may be an alright- albeit 'cheap option' as an alternative to Jnr @ AM if Jnr struggles to find form (I'm saying all this, as I now highly doubt (after Powell/Kubbi/Giverin trialling) Walmsley will be looking at a specialist AM being signed .......... NOT until Jan Xfer window  & even that's not a given)

Also, is Junior a 'natural left-footed' player? ....... because this kid IS.
Only ask because of Balance ?
