ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!
If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.
ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

In fairness how many games has our keeper lost us? Would Kennedy raise that number? I don't think he will be first choice. He'll be afforded the chance to be first choice but that will be up to him and whoever it is he's fighting for a spot

Yeah. Imagine if Trent had a Sterj type player to learn how to be a wide player. Or any of our backs had Zwanny or Wilko to play next to. I could go on and on. That champion side was a great balance. The youth just happened to be outstanding but that was also a credit to the players around them and the coaching staff. The way I look at Kennedy he is better than what we have and probably the obvious available keeper. At this stage he would be first choice. By the time we start next season he needs to be second choice.
That is the way I feel about a lot of our squad that have contracts for next season. Most, if not all should be second XI players. Some of them may turn into very good players, but it is not fair on the players, or the fans for that matter, to expect them all to mature together. There needs to be the right older players with them. Something we have suffered with since Arnie left and the Championship side was dismantled.
Central Coast Mariners players coming off contract: Jake Adelson, Kwabena Appiah, Josh Bingham, Jacques Faty (foreign), Fabio Ferreira (foreign), Scott Galloway, Paul Izzo, Nick Montgomery (foreign), Ivan Necevski, Michael Neill, Roy O'Donovan (foreign), Jacob Poscoliero, Storm Roux, Mickael Tavares (foreign)

Link to the Herald Sun article re off contract players.
Locally you would think he could target those players he has worked with in the past with FFA however from that list there is nothing special - Mells, Makarounas, Warland, Kuzmanovski, Oxborrow, Blackwood, Baccus, Woodcock, Shabow, Youlley.
There are a few young aussie players now overseas he would be aware of.
You would have to wonder what Okon's scouting network is like overseas in terms of established or name players.
Would he even be a non visa player? Looking at his Wikipedia page there is no mention of him having Australian heritage. In the few games I have seen him in he looks far, far too slow for A-League level Bingham looks a much better prospect and one who doesn't require the use of a visa spot. He wasn't good enough for the Conference ffs. If we're desperate for a young striker go after Charles Lokolingoy, Abraham Majok, Eli Babalj, George Blackwood, Kenny Athieu, a player from the AIS or someone returning from an academy in Europe. If we sign Hamish Watson we are more than stuffed. On 442 about Bona to WSW a nix fan said and Hamish Watson to CCM. Obviously has no links or connection or what ever but maybe nix fans think that is a possibility. Nothing about it on nix forum.
Would be another nothing signing. Rather Bingham.
When he's fit I think he could be a decent stop gap measure for us, especially if we could snag him for 80,000-100,000. If we could secure a decent foreign number 10 we could use him in spurts. But from the sounds of it his ankle is giving him a lot of trouble and we have a very poor track record with injury management. Probably better off not taking the risk. Wouldn't mind using the same amount to grab Panni Nikas as an option for a potential number 10 backup.Past it imo.
Thomas Broich wants to play on but hasn't talked to Brisbane yet. Could be a solution to our number 10 problem?
