ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I thought they all did fitness tests at the minimum and you would think some sort of medical records as part of due diligence?
I think he just read the same article in the SMH I read, saying they were released. I thought no, FFS don't sign for us.
Obviously he thought yes, yes , f**king yes and picked the phone up.

I'm pretty keen to turn this thread into 2017 - 2018 squad thread now. What do you guys reckon?
Still a good place to put little tidbit about players but if you want to setup the 17-18 thread go ahead. You can put resigning in there or rumours for next year.
We can run both

Football Confidential: Central Coast Mariners’ dispute with Mickael Tavares getting nasty

THINGS aren’t as happy go lucky as they might seem on the surface at the Mariners, where a potentially nasty dispute is brewing over an injury that has ended Mickael Tavares’s season.

The midfielder’s ankle problem did not respond to several weeks of rehab with a doctor in Europe he had worked with before (and had treated players like Samir Nasri), and so the Senegalese international has had to have surgery — ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.

The Mariners want to claim his wages under the A-League insurance scheme, but they fear his injury was a pre-existing condition which might be excluded by the insurers.

Medical records from previous clubs have been sought in a bid to clarify things, and now lawyers have got involved on both sides, as well as the players’ union.

We’re told the club made him an offer to leave now, which Tavares has turned down, and it looks like things could get nasty.

Mickael Tavares and the Mariners are at loggerheads.

The only thing Tav can be pissed about is getting his full wage, so our offer probably less than full entitlement.
Wonder if it involved taking the Fat with him and he thought no one else will give him a job.
The Fat was at the car Museum so must be playing nice to make sure he gets paid, but realistically we don't need him. He's not better than what we have by enough to warrant the money or foreign spot.
Well done TW
Be interesting to see who we get next year as Paulo sounds pretty thorough on the podcast

Paulo seemed put out when he had to answer how Tav was doing at the fan forum...if this is true it might explain why

that said i don't know if i trust it as any more than a rumour at this point

Our poor research isn't bad luck.

Tavares was telling people in corporate boxes at the last Brisbane game that he was injured when he came. Walmsley obviously didn't ask.

We've proven very capable of both bad luck and poor research.

But even if players and agents were inclined to advertise the extent of previous injuries, always err on the side of caution, and put their employers welfare first... o_O all players his age have had previous injuries. I'm sure he passed a medical because A) we signed him. B) He got through a pre season and almost half a season on it - so its very doubtful that they would have seen or had any reason to flag or reject him. The idea they didn't even do a medical let alone 'ask him' I assume is just you taking the piss.

He had a medical, passed and he's a quality player... but he's older, has had injuries... This = gamble. Not poor research.
We lost gamble = unlucky imo.

I think Mane, Seip, The Korean being unknown to us and untested in the HAL, much better qualify as poor research.

I'm so wasted right now I've got no idea who won tonight. But hey. Bring on that midfielder. And no. I don't create new threads. Ever!

Only problem was we where shopping in a bloody expensive bin. They are old but apparently weren't cheap.
The used car salesman got us big time.

Worst part was Taveras was very good for a few games and we were a good team with him

What happened to Alex Grant from Perth?
Him and Lowry were dominant for Perth last year.
I dont think i have seen Grant play this year but he impressed me last season. A good old fashioned centre back. I would be happy to see him in yellow.

Thanks Syd,
I guess if he has played 10 games and scored he is unlikely to be released. But with Djulbic and Williams ahead of him he may jump at the chance to be starting more games.
