Pretty amazing story. Love how down to earth and connected our club is feeling. TW's skypes, MC going on the Podcasts etc. There's a lot to like about what they're doing. Love Luis to work out. If he's a great guy, then one way or another, I'm sure it will.

Austin looked pretty pissed heading straight down the tunnel the other night... Garcia as a mentor is one of the best possible things you could imagine happening for him right now. The youngsters in particular must all be wrapped.

The word was he needed to go down the tunnel to piss - no more intrigue than that. He was out soon after.

Well Wombat I hope you have read Tony's sales pitch. We need sponsors to pay for him.

Might be a few stalkers who follow him for a massage. My wife included. She thinks he might take Fab's title but wants a look in person of course.

Hope we can capitalise.

Thanks Big Al,

We already get some of the Mariners players in, as apparently, the girls massage better than the Mariners Physio.
Yesterday I started a new lady with more than 5 years experience who had her own spa in Thailand, so now we can do facials and hot stone treatments as well.
Luis is welcome for a free hour at East Gosford Thai Massage.....not sure that we can afford to sponsor his kit!

Going on his general attitude, comments etc... I took that to be him being pissed at himself for that one pass which turned into an Adelaide goal... I didn't think there were any signs of general unhappiness outside that.
Hope I'm right... Enough of the s***

Garcia as a mentor as everyone is saying could nay should turn our squad around ... done well it will have huge benefits in future years... on the other side I recall a personal issue I had many many many moons ago.... It was a year that the International University games came to Australia it was the late 90's.... I was teaching at TAFE at the time at Liverpool and wrote to the institute director seeking we put in a side ...

To cut to the issue I was appointed manager / captain / coach .... roughly we trailed about 20 teams to pick the best team... The team I had was unbelievable and then I realised I had mainly U 20 and second squad players from Parramatta Power, Sydney United, Marconi, Olympic, Blacktown Demons and Melta Eagles .... to say I was out of my depth even through my ego had said taking an u 21 team to the semie finals in champions of champions I was good... I soon realised every single player had a better coach than me... After only 3 training secessions I realised totally out of my comfort zone then approached a mate of mind who held NSL level coaching certificates to take over as coach and his first action was to drop me from the team... we are still mates...

Garcia will be used to coaching ability hhhmmm eeeerrrr aaaagggg lets say better than TW ... IMO how this is handled is critical to it working... I think , hope, our club's coaching and administration management will get this right as will Garcia...

It should be noted that Tony does have his coaching badges - UEFA based I think.

The professionalism shown by Monty and Roy in the way they train and look after their bodies is what rubs off on the younger players (though Roy seemed to want to hurt his head the other day). I'm sure that that will be true for Garcia as well. It's a matter of the old saying - the better I train the luckier I get.

I see where you're coming from - and good on you - but...

I think there's an obviousm, enormous, difference in the situations.
Of course understanding and ability is a major factor, but it's probably worth bearing in mind that education and experience isn't without value either.
TW might not be a Guardiola or Klopp or what-not, but he's not completely without ability either I think. We question coaches a LOT, as fans... Especially in the Australian league - we are shockingly frivolous in conversations about coaching changes. I feel like it's a bit of a carry-over fromt he high expectations that Australian's have of their teams.
But...

TW isn't completely without ability and understanding... If he was, we'd be in an even worse situation than we are now. I'd like to think that the accreditation process alone, counts for something.
From there, I think that there's a greater jump from "amateur, part-timer" (all due respect) to "professional NSL coach" than there is from "Professional A-league coach" to "UEFA Coach" if you know what I mean.

That being said, he'd be stupid to not listen if Garcia has an idea... Much the same as you'd see Del Piero have the occasional chat to Farina when he looked like he had an idea.
On the other hand, Garcia is a professional - AND he's played in lower leagues than ours ;) - so I'm sure he knows how to work with coaches of differing levels...
I don't think it'll be an issue.

I am fully aware of TW coaching badges and have every reason to believe it will work out right..

My comment is / was .... the issue of coaching i.e what Garcia has experienced and TW will be different ... Without goodwill by all and proper management this could lead to issues ...

SFC handled it well with ADP and cranky Frankie ... I assume we will as well ... my comment to repeat tis it is an issue that needs a lot of work and goodwill...

Your point is a good one middy and well founded - it is a juggle all the teams with marquees before have had to make.

In this case I get the impression Garcia is a down to earth type who will be supportive of the club. I also get the impression TW would be prepared to listen/discuss ideas with Garcia - why wouldn't you! If Garcia was some big ego personality I might expect a problem but I really don't think it likely this time, based on the article telling of how the deal came about I think Garcia is very much for the little club that could scenario and pretty genuine to boot

That's completely down to Garcias professionalism which by all accounts is exemplary. He won't be expecting the level of coaching hes used to and lets not forget he did have a stint in India.

If TW is worth his salt he won't be averse to taking a few small tips here and there from Garcia anyway. I'm sure he'd be the first person wanting some inside knowledge from him anyway.
