All the right choices have been made .As for Cernak Iwas never a convert has a big engine and played with a lot of heart but it's not enough for this league just lòok at the top four teams this year thats where the bar has been set .

I was under the impression Pandurevic would be one to watch - maybe some more time at Manly will do him goood but we could be out competed to get him is he shows the talent he's meant to have

The club's confirmed that Cernak, Morton, Slater and Pandurevic are gone - nothing about Vernes:

Seems like my mail was accurate...
My mail is... wait for it... Cernak will be leaving at the end of the season.

Does anyone know how much he is on? I was told $200K. Perhaps Warmsely is thinking that we can find a similar player as Cernak, but at a much lower cost. I doubt it would be minimum wage though.
I still think he was on a signigicant amount of coin... His departure should free up some dollars.

Speaking of mail, the same bloke said Vernes was also headed for the door. I dont know what the fact that he wasn't in today's cull means.

Because he's injured atm he is cash neutral because of insurance? Still taking up a cap place at whatever $'s but cash neutral. However there is the fact of support staff time and effort to help him recover so that's an intrinsic cost that should be taken into account.

I think this is probably the case for Cernak. Pity, I think he was beginning to show some form under the new Walmsley playing philosophy.

Apparently there may be cause for a hint of optimism for all Matty Simon fans:

"there is some fresh talk Simon may be offered a low-base, high-incentive contract for next season."

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/...-coach-seeks-fresh-start-20150501-1my4qd.html

Also: "the door hasn't been completely shut on Anderson if he can't find a deal elsewhere"

And: "Everton send a lot of players on loan to the lower divisions but we see no reason why they can't send them to us. They'll be taking up visa spots, so we expect them to be very good players who can come in and make a real difference."

Walmsley is moving on. :)

Cernak the only who can feel disappointed. He has worked extremely hard for a new contract but I would imagine his lack of end product despite all the energy expended has counted against him. And was he really on $200k?
I like clear outs. I like Walmsley being decisive, but not renewing contracts or telling a Tom Slater he has no future is the easy part. Moss got the recruitment horribly wrong; this is now the real test for Walmsley. It could be really exciting!

well it looks like they might've finally seen sense in maybe keeping simon
Well, I kinda hope so. The people I talk to, just locals who are not mad keen Mariners supporters, but do support the *local* team, are saying that they want Matty Simon to stay in the team. He's a bit of a local drawcard, detractors take note! :pirashoot:

Low base, high incentive is the way to go. If Simon scores 15 goals and costs us a bomb, fine by me, and I'm sure Walmsley will be perfectly happy with that too.

The idea that Anderson isn't necessarily gone also indicates that it's a mismatch of prices rather than a desire to be rid of him.

With Anderson, Griffiths, Morton, Slater, Pandurevic, Duke, Simon, Major, Cernak and Hutchinson all gone there is certainly some squad space now. With also some talk about Vernes, Bosnar and Nash going as well Walmsley will certainly be able to reshape his squad.

The idea of Matty as a low cost squaddie with the incentive to do some serious damage appeals as well

wow, i too am very pleased with these potential developments and more so the way Walmsley is taking the bull by the horns as it were. the Simon situation in particular would be bang on.
personally I'd have kept Cernack as a fine squadie with the potential to grow into a starter but as has been said many times don't know the $ situation as is/was. Walmsley kept playing him so he must have thought him decent enough to be a squadie. that or he has a clear plan for a playing style that Cernack doesn't fit

definitely interesting times ahead

A colleague of mine met Tony today and said he is a lovely and very bright man but he told my friend that CCM is a brain f**k (translated)
But he will sort us out.
In Tony I trust....

I've said a few times now that he was extended for another year by Moss

I saw you post it once, and I posted back:

I don't think that's right. He extended Bosnar's deal to the end of this season, not next.

That was on the strength of media reports that covered his initial short term deal:

http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/article/bosnar-inks-coast-contract/1p2t4fw6v09u210cim1gxivm45

And subsequent one year extension:

http://m.smh.com.au//breaking-news-sport/mariners-resign-bosnar-drop-pasfield-20140508-37xon.html

But that only takes us to the end of this season. This is consistent with the club website.

Experienced defender Eddy Bosnar signed with the Central Coast Mariners in January 2014 on an initial five month contract.

...

Bosnar extended his time with the Mariners for a further season in May 2014, ensuring the battle-hardened defensive leader will feature for the Club in Hyundai A-League season 10.

Do you have a source that shows the further extension, or are you telling us that they extended his deal and didn't tell anyone?

I was surprised too as I thought he was off contract and opened the space to get someone decent in. I have no idea why the extension wasn't announced but I know he's there next year. I don't mind him as a back up if we recruit quality cb's
