ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mossie should swallow his pride & talk to Marcos.

Marcos is not the answer. Marcos is better than everyone we have in his spot but when he was injured we replaced him...we have to understand that. Bernie is a striker and plays in a different possie.

Losing Bernie is a hammer blow but Arnie spent hours teaching him the basics and gave him his big break so its not surprised he stuck with Arnie. Having said that Arnie has officially burnt his bridges and I will boo him as loud as I can.

be interesting now to see how Mossy sets up

let's face it as good as Bernie is he was never our golden boot. he was so effective at the end on loan for us because we were badly wounded and played with a 5 man back line and pounced on the counter. there's no way that is going to be the plan come season 10 with some recruiting and a preseason. I have my doubts Bernie would have been AS effective as he has been when we don't play pure counter attacking style anyway.
no doubt you'd rather him in the team and he's a very valuable asset to have but I'm not certain he'd have been as effective next season in any case.

so will be interesting to see how Mossy recruits, sets up and plays in the times ahead

I've never vaguely considered something like that before in my life - now in right up for it. squarely aimed at the back of Arnie's head

When I was a kid I struck up a friendship with a kid on the bus that looked like the bloke from tears for fears and we used to walk up the hill together yacking many a day even though he was a year or two older than me.
Around that time, I'm embarresed to say I used to weat a flat cap coz I wanted to be like the lead singer of ACDC.

One day for a laugh he grabbed my hat and chucked it over a high hedge into a house close to mine. He thought this was a great laugh. I knocked on the door and got my hat back....as soon as it got dark I took two eggs from my fridge and told my mum I was going to a mates house.
I knocked on this dudes house and told his mum I needed to have a word. When he came to the door I told him he had wrecked my hat and held it out for inspection. When he bent his head down to check the damage I whacked the two eggs onto the back of his head.
We were now even and to his credit he didn't try and give me a hiding, in fact he apologised

Arnie.......get ready to apologise you CNUT .

We did not 'lose' Bernie as suggested. He was signed to Shanghai. His contract is with Shanghai not CCM. How they choose to loan him out is their (and to an extent Bernie's decision) call, not ours. As much as I dislike it you cannot blame Bernie, or Arnie for that matter.

It seems quite clear that we did not offer him enough. For Moss to come out and say they did not get a right of reply is utter rubbish. If you want him that much offer what he is worth the first time and not play silly buggers.

What a load of rubbish.

If Ibini didn't feel that we were offering what he was worth, why did he agree to terms with us in the first place? After all, we wouldn't have been the only A-League club chasing his signature prior to Arnie signing on at SFC.

Good lord! What's up with this stuff, it's the same on the Facebook pages, people going out of their way to defend Arnie and Bernie and attack the club...

No, Bernie wasn't signed to us, that's why he was able to move, that doesn't mean that we should congratulate him and enjoy it. Noone's denying his right to move, but having the right isn't the same as it being a decision that we should encourage or agree with. It's not like he or the agent have broken any rules, but I think the fans and the club have a right to feel betrayed. Especially if, as has been alluded to, there was verbal consideration given to him taking another season with us and we weren't even given the opportunity for a counteroffer.

Same thing goes for Arnie, he has every right - in terms of the rules - to come hunting for whatever players aren't contracted... That doesn't mean that it's the right thing to do, especially not in light of his previous comments about the club and the circumstances under which he was released in the first place.

So as a whole, as a fan, yep, I feel betrayed and will reserve the right to 'boo' the heck out of them at the next game, along with the hat-man.

On a side-note, I too am getting frustrated with Sydney's tendency to poach anything that looks mildly succesful in the Mariners squad... For a club with such big coffers, they seem surprisingly unwilling to actually spend money on scouts.

This!
Isn't this the second "worldwide search" for a coach that's ended with the nearest local guy available?
What a joke.

Long may the rot at that under-performing club continue.

Well all I can say is Sydney Fc are doing what they always have done and that is buy a side. I'm disappointed in Arnie to say the least. If he targets WeeMac as well then that'll really fire things up!
They will never have our spirit, culture and development of young players.
We will have to dig deep and rely on what has served us well in the past. We already have a decent squad that will be competitive though we will need a couple more quality players in order to push the top 4.
Once the dust has settled I'm sure we will be happy with the make up of the squad. There will still be 3 or 4 new names I guess and there is plenty of time to look into that.

What I would like to see now is a signing of another real quality player that signals our intent to mix it with the big boys. Cash will be the issue of course.
