SST has been right on on all things ccm in the last couple months to the point they are talking to someone in the know.
Hutch retiring
You didn't need a crystal ball to know that this was likely to be Hutch's last season.

Hutch no job
We still don't know that for certain - the season isn't over yet.

Everton p/ship
I might give you that one... although both clubs announced it pretty much the following day so it wasn't like they announced it way in advance.

Fabio not sure if they were on that?
Gatty announced that one... then SST tried to spin some speculation the next day about an AU player coming here.

Griffiths trialling in usa
He played 60 minutes in a pre-season game for Sporting Kansas City 2-3 days before SST said anything. That's not talking to someone "in the know", that's reading blog and forum posts.

We now have 18 of a possible 26 signed for next year. We have some good youth coming through. Indeed 10 of the 18 signed (Roux, Kalik, McGing, Caceres, Slater, Rose, Vernes, Fitzgerald, Neill, Bingham ) are 22 or under and most have seen game time this year.

The 8 older guys are Reddy, Nash, Rose, Sim, Poscoliero, Montgomery, Trifiro, Ferriera. The biggest concern there is the keepers. Reddy has done a decent job for us but he is not in the same class as Danny or Maty and having Nash as the second string puts little pressure on him.

If we are to survive and prosper I think the at least 6 of the remaining 8 positions all have to be quality signings. Poscoliero needs a CB partner and 2 decent squad covers. We need another RB to push or surpass Storm, a LW to push or surpass Fitzy , a number 10 to push or surpass Caceres and 2 more strikers.

Our current squad for next year is Reddy, Nash, Rose, Sim, Poscoliero, Roux, Montgomery, Kalik, McGing, Caceres, Slater, Rose, Vernes, Trifiro, Fitzgerald, Neill, Bingham and Ferriera. There are not too many in that list that would be on big money. Next year we will probably have 6 NSW based games and a NYE game. If we can inject some quality that can create a buzz around the team we can once again build our crowds. The effect of Fabio on the style of play in the first half is the type of thing I am talking about. Mossy has only been in the job for 15 months and he seems to have had to do things on the cheap. The club cannot continue that way. Good young players are great - but there needs to be quality around them to nurture their talent.

The owner needs to open his wallet like I open mine every game . Last night proved by getting quality players like Fabio (he killed them in the first half) things can happen , but you cannot expect 17 year olds and a few good players and bunch of second stringers to hold the club together. CCM treading water on the coast big time.

me wonders if, with our need to recruit for key positions combined with the transfer window closing to a sliver, bringing in some everton boys could occur ahead of schedule?

Good post and spot on. We have some great young players and have done a good job of getting the best of the State league guys. However...we just don't have enough quality experienced players and are well behind every other team except perhaps the jets. Fab is just the sort of player we need and his quality was one positive from the weekends game. As a minimum we need at least 3 more players that can inject some much needed quality. Watching the Perth v Adelaide game yesterday and also Sydney v MV shows how far we have fallen behind. Its also very hard to develop the young guys when they are put under so much pressure every game. To make things harder we have a pretty inexperienced coaching staff at this level and if the club continues along with Mossy/Sully hopefully they learn from this season. Hoping for some good news soon.

Agree. But to be fair the league moved past us very quickly.
Perth SFC Nix and MV made quality additions that I'm not sure we could ever have matched and AU have just continued clicking under a great coach but they are a very different team when caruscia is out.

That and we lost Ibini and Weemac (part of the quality added elsewhere) and now Duke.

Mosses overseas pickups were terrible and then with the rest of teams taking off its probably inevitable.

However our game play has been poor which never helps when you are weaker.

I actually think our squad balance isn't to bad. Couple towards the end hutch,Monty, Bosnar, Rosey and Reddy
middle age Simon, Fabio, Cernak, Sim, Vernes, Anderson
Maturing Poscolario, Caceras, Fitzy, Major, roux
Next gen rose kalik Neill panvic

Obviously not full squad just what I could think of.

Boogard to jets for 3 years. Hometown club.

Would have been a good pickup if we could have got in front of that.

Him and malik have been pretty good

We need a new coach. Thats what we need. Players like Roux and Fitz and Caceres should be attracting interest from foreign clubs, not fighting for a starting role in a squad of underperformers.

If he goes to the Scum I hope we have the same "gentleman's agreement" we have seen when players have come to us.

If he goes to the Jest, I'm not sure whose head should hang more in shame, his or MC's... In so many ways, it would be a disastrous sign for our club I think.
