From memory at least, SST isn't exactly the most reliable source in Australian football... I would be saddened to have to eat my words, but I don't see it as very likely either, so here goes..
Of all of our players, I REALLY struggle seeing Matty going to Newcastle... The way he feels about our club and the way he plays against Newie, it just doesn't make sense, irrespective of how he feels about the current club management.
Not to mention how he would be received up there! Him OR Hutch... I just don't see a situation where they'd ever even make it on to the field without fearing for their lives (perhaps an exaggeration, but you get my drift)
Not to mention that he'd never be able to show his face in East Gosford again

also - if a clubs direction and management was enough to make you consider moving club who in their right mind would think newcastle's the place to go? that's like an albino deciding to get out of the heat of france al by moving to qatar

The guy who said this rumour is a player agent. Same agent that is Sainsbury's, Arnie, McBreen etc... At best I even if the Newcastle part is untrue I think there validity to the fact that Simon isn't happy.

He is equal top scorer for us this season iirc.
Even without goals he has a habit of lifting the team with his work rate.

So... Are you not watching the games because of the whole Charlesworth thing? Or is it something else, like a general refusal to follow football as a whole, but still post on football boards?
Matty's been one of the handier players this season, all things considered.
Comments like this one, seem to stem from much the same place as the back-pass thing for Hutch, who could play as a goalie and still be accused of passing it backwards... It's the sort of thing that, somewhere along the line, became accepted as 'conventional wisdom' in the Australian football community and so, it has never been reviewed.
Matty hasn't been as prolific in the last couple of games, but from memory, he's still averaged at something like a goal for every two games he started, this season... That's a respectable strike-rate, all things considered.

If Matt Simon says he not happy with CCM we should give him more credit he loves CC. I take it as a sign the North Sydney thing would get under his skin the most and the most logical place to play without moving is newy.
I think Matts been great since he came back this year. He was excellent vs MV at North Sydney and changed the attitude of the team in a game we thought we'd get spanked ( we did in the end but not in the fashion we thought)
Someone (can't remember who) finally slipped him a through ball on the carpet into the box and all I remember is him ripping the net with a beauty of a strike
