IMO the only times we can be annoyed about losing players is
A: a regular starter/key player for free overseas
B: a regular starter/key player to another aleague side

The Hally rumour has shocked me tbh. Must be a money thing, puzzles me why you’d leave the best team in the country for another domestic side.
What nizzy said to glen lauder post match a few weeks ago now is still resonating and I get the feeling a guys like Max and Fazz would have the same mindset. Only leave for the most genuine opportunity of regular play time overseas. I refuse to believe those guys in particular would go to another aleague team at this point. They’re the 2 best CM’s and best LB in the country right now.

When they do go though, Tappy is already almost at Max’s level and Steely will find consistency. Ready made replacements. Brandtman takes Di Pizio’s minutes. Torres will probably be sold so we tap the scout network for another gem.
I might be an outlier on this, but I’m not that worried about the next gutting of the squad. We’re prepared and we have the scouting/contact resources to find more talent.

This is a big part of the reason Faz ended up staying in Jan. Plenty of interest and had offers, but wasn’t going to be given genuine minutes. Teams bidding from Europe in January aren’t looking for project players, they want someone who is either established and will strengthen the starting 11, or backup options. Even though we all view him as the former, it sounds like he was being viewed more as the latter by those interested parties.

Tis the yet to be answered part of his skill set.... many great coaches fail on the rebuilding side of the game.... issue is using Moss as the example you make a number pf poor choices it takes a long time to undo the damage...

Having Matty as the Football director will also test his skill set in the same area, there decisions will go a long way to building the clubs future....
Moss was shit from all angles.

The reality is we're all below the standard for a lot of other International leagues. Faz is a very good player for our league but he's still young and not filled out. He's a strong, tough physical player for our league, elsewhere he's an above average skilled but average to below average physique.

Niz takes this further, high skill, low physique. I know he fights hard and overcomes it in our league but it'd be a gamble for a club to take him on in a stronger league.

Will be very interesting to see where both end up. Both capable beyond what's on paper but unless you watch a lot of footage you don't necessarily know.

With the internet scouting is a lot easier. Gone are the days where you had to actually go and watch in person or have to hope one of the players was on tv.

I think FIFApro also have a video database of pretty much every player and every match and clubs can subscribe to it. Pretty sure the FA were using it to keep tabs on the players when Ange was coaching the Socceroos.

Yep I’ve seen this database and it’s absolutely crazy how was lily you can refine player data and video segments from near every league in the world, and goes back years as well. Worth every penny for a scout.

Yeah it's pretty amazing.

Pricey for a freelance scout but in a national federation or big club would be absolutely value.

I’ve never seen nizz get pushed off a ball. I’d say his physique is a strength not a weakness
err maybe not when it comes to headers. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a quality player and tough to boot. Anyway this has been done to death before. He's quality and we love him.

The interesting thing for me here is Jacko has done a superb job with a team he inherited and has brought on only one recruit of his own.
The team he inherited, however, came from the league's best recruiters Monty and Sergio.

Will be interesting to see what Jacko can do with a bit of a rebuild and preseason of his own. I do expect to lose a bunch of key players who all deserve their shot, but there's reason to think Jacko can keep it going with his own formula. I hope.
Two. Ronnie and Big Ed.

He is irreplaceable with our current spend. We are not the same team when he doesn't play....FACT.

I absolutely love Maxy and Faz but we can survive their loss, just,......although i will be mighty pissed off to lose either!!!! But without Niz we are just Adelaide FC.

If Nathan Paull or Cher Deng are deemed not ready for starting A-League duties next season it might not be a bad idea to go after Kane Vidmar. He's looked good in limited minutes with Western United.
