Question for all the learned forum members, if we lost Cummins next season what path do you think we'd take? I think Monty would look overseas.

Anyone think there'd be a smokie from another Aleague club? Would you want a particular player from another club, someone gettable that is? Do we put our faith in Wendall-Halls and rely on youthful back up of the bench?

There's always Marco Urena.
Nani FTW.

Wenzel-Halls is the long term replacement for Cummings. Monty has been after him for a long time. Even before he signed for Brisbane Monty was after him. I think Monty is counting on Cummings hanging around till next January.

That will give Wenzel-Halls a full pre-season without the pressure of being our main source of goals. As well as allowing him to build confidence and understanding with our other attackers.

I don't think Monty sees himself as ready for an overseas gig yet. You can tell Monty's end goal is Sheffield United, as much as he has an affinity for us I'm sure he will go if the club leaves him in a position that will damage his career progression.

An avaliable Monty would be in high demand in the A-League, hell he is even when unavailable. Especially with at least Victory, Roar, Phoenix looking for a new manager. Sydney have already been mentioned as sniffing around.

I can see Monty leaving if he isn’t given the resources to rebuild a team if Cummings is sold. The Wilkshire & Christensen debacle has weakened our immediate youth pipeline a bit, most of all in attack. This leaves Monty with very limited attacking youth options which means he will need funds to find an adequate replacement at least in the short term.

Continuing the raid on Western for Seb Pasquali would be good.

Would love to have Scott Galloway back or Stefan Nigro, both haven't been getting much gametime.

Stefan Colakovski has seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth, same with Terry Antonis, wouldn't mind either of them.

Jaiden Kurcharski seems to be another destined for the Corica scrap heap. If we couldn't get him a minimum wage deal for Patrick Wood would be interesting.

Don't know what's going on with Al Hassan Toure at the Bulls but he seems to be on the outer with Mile Sterjovski, wouldn't mind us going after him.

If we could get Joe Knowles or minimum wage he could be a decent option of the bench.

Bernardo seems to have been leapfrogged by Adelaide's other starlets, could be another to chase.

Pierce Waring is leading the NPL Victoria Golden boot, definitely at least worth a trial. Same with Josh Hope and maybe Yitay Towns, Marcus Schroen, Anthony Pantazopoulos, Josh Bingham.

If he wants this sort of talk to be taken seriously he'd need to open the kimono.

. if that means what i think it means ... i reckon he was relatively open at the Drifters forum. but the key takeout from that is the deal with MC is very restrictive in what he can say (and fair enough)

. i'm not suggesting that would change things - but regardless, we won't get much clarity in the short-term. at that time (the forum) we had received no WC money and it was unclear how much we would receive ... only that numbers mentioned in the media were likely overstating things

I meant Monty would look overseas for a striker

Would love to have Scott Galloway back or Stefan Nigro,
Nigro is a no from me. He was an adequate RB but nothing special. When he made runs up the wing he didnt go deep enough before trying to cross the ball into the box. His attempts were usually too direct from the shallow run and the keeper gobbled them up. Hopefully he has worked on this, but if not, then I'm not a fan.

FIFA being opaque about money? Surely not? :headbounce:
