Whilst he isn't still contracted with us professionally in the complicated world of football transfer system there is training compensations and ITC that are still with CCM.

thanks for another update Shaun, this one I’ve been hanging for.
Is there a feeling that he’ll be back here if his trial fails?

I think Sekiya was supposed to play in the QLD verses NSW NPL game on tonight, but I can’t locate him on the team sheet.

Optimistically, I’m hoping he’s impressed Staj & is somewhere on the Central Coast instead.
Sekiya was never in the Queensland squad for the NPL game, which incidentally featured 4 ex CCM players and 1 ex coach. He was only down here for the one week trial but that is not to say he won't be back or we aren't going to sign him. Whether he showed Staj that he was able to perform the role that Staj wants him to - I guess we will have to wait and see.

Good information to know. Cheers.

My expectations were based on an FTBL article about manager Ben Cahn, who lead the NPL Queensland team against the Roar, then NSW, in a “state of origin” friendly.

“We’ll be without Steve Whyte, Mitch Nichols, Jez Lofthouse, Tasuku Sekiya, Max Brown, Sam Roper, Joe Duckworth, Henry Hore and Harry Sawyer, but we should have most of them available for the NSW game which is very exciting.” - Ben Cahn

I don’t think we’re going to see another defensive signing are we?

Hopefully the two upfront. Not the clubs fault but very frustrating if this is all visa issues and other clubs have gotten their signings through,

A defensive signing is good news. Still no striker...if we're really relying on Grandpa Simon for goals who scored zero goals in open play last season and looks slower than a very slow thing at a go slow convention then our season is already over.

Get DRD back sharpish

I still like to to Sekiya plus the 2 OS signings. Also wouldn't be surprised to se another couple of scholarship signings.

Without the visa signings it's going to be a real struggle, neither Kuol or Simon can really run out 90 minutes can they? We don't have any attacking wide players, unless Staj is planning on using wingbacks in Nigro/Clisby/Miller I guess. Trying to be optimistic but unless Staj pulls a tactical and developmental miracle I'm really struggling to see us anywhere near the finals.

It really is time for some of the younger 'experienced' players to earn their keep. Kye and DDS have now been around for a while - they need to own their spot and Clisby is still a worry at LB. With 3 more signings we could line up

-------------------------Birighitti------------------------------
Nigro----------Gordon------------Rowles------------Clisby
--------------Nisbet------------------Bozanic-----------------
Sekiya (still hoping)---De Silva----------Jonata (Rumour only)
----------------------Visa Striker--------------------------------

That still leaves Hatch, Hall, Tongyik, Miller, Stensness, Bouman, Kuol, Simon and a bunch of NPL2 lads that will see time this season - especially in the first frantic few weeks.

Granted they are yet to signed and granted our first game is just over 2 weeks away. We make those signings and we can either make the 6 or just miss. We don't and I think it will be another long season.

The importance of a regular goal soccer cannot be over stated ... even in simple things like changing the defensive shape of the other teams ...

with two weeks to go and with so many positions still opened ... the kids are going to have to run their socks off ...

. i'm intrigued - so many people are suggesting a starting paring of Oli and Nizzy ... and consigning Stens to the bench

. Stens played practically every minute last season (only Ziggy and Birraz played more) - Nizzy by comparison was closer to a third than half the minutes played
. Stens was even played in front of Kim
. Stens was awarded the 'newcomer of the year award'

. what have people heard or seen that suggests Staj will be changing his views ... or is it just wishful thinking
