Do we know if Dan Hall got a solid run in CB?

Or was Miller, Zigg, Rowles, Clis
I went down to training yesterday & he was playing at left back. Don’t think Rowles would’ve featured today as he played last night for ollyroos

I think that Ollie being captain may be an indication that Matty will be playing from the bench.
Last season should be the indicator of that. If we’re viewing him as a starter we may as well not bother competing.

We’ve now seen the signings we were expecting or had been rumoured. What the club has up its sleeve next will make or break our season. Also hoping for a kit reveal sooner than later.

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

I'm glad about Ziggy, but if we don't have a goalscorer, then we will need to clear more space in our spoon drawer.

This is what worries me. Given that our ownership has not been resolved. I can't imagine that we have the budget for a decent CB and a decent striker. 16 players now. Ziggy will probably end up in the middle to add experience there. We will probably add a couple of more scholarship players and the rest will likely be average youngish players.

The minimum squad size is 18 so we have 2 to go at minimum. Last years floor was 2.88 and has dropped to around 1.7 I believe. All teams applied cuts to existing contracts but on top of that we’ve seen a bunch of players leave that would have been on substantial amounts. Oar, Kim, Harold, Mcglinchey, Murray, Fox to name a few. In return we’ve signed Hall to what would be a cheap senior deal, Bouman and Olly. There should be money left for some decent players to fill the remaining spots.

I like the core of this squad, some heart and skill in the experienced players and quality, potential and x-factor in the youth.
But it's still well below a competitive squad in this competition so far.

Because we're not hearing much, including about kits, it carries my hope that the sale is still in progress. The longer it takes the more the hope fades, however.

Eli Babalj is training with Perth Glory, wouldn't mind nabbing him
I think we need an established striker with a goal scoring record and probably foreign at that. There's been some imports coming in so the foreigner part shouldn't be an issue. Just needs to be done within a fortnight so they can get the semblance of a pre season in.

Captain obvious, I know. Guess it depends on cash left in the cap

Not many good quality free agent strikers that we can afford available. January may be easier but that has its own problems.

Can we arrange loans at any time? That might be something to explore while the season shifts to the other side of Jan.

Joey Gibbs has been banging them in in Iceland getting the Golden Boot in div 2 .
He`s 28, in good form,a local kid and he`s been around a long time.
Worth a phone call at least...
Joey would be great but last time he was here he was in charge of the community coaching and they offered him the job as gear steward - a bit insulting and I don't think the club would be game to go back and offer him something more now.

he’d have more output than Murray imo
Regularly top 2 player in NPL, shocking he never got a real crack here. I agree, I doubt he’d come here after that kind of treatment.
imagine the stick he would’ve copped in Blacktown if he became the kit man for us whilst dominating teams at the weekend

We need better. We need a proper striker not some NPL muppet.
I think he`s moved beyond NPL status.
At least give the guy a trial, I think he`s earned one on the strength of his overseas performances.
He may be a late bloomer like Daniel McBreen....

Bit harsh Wombat. I agree we probably need better but Joey has an A League Grand Final winners medal with Sydney (whilst he was still at Gosford High), scored on his debut for both WSW and the Jets, and has played in Belgium, Hong Kong and Iceland. And 63 goals in his last 129 games is a better strike rate than Muzz or Blake Powell had in the NPL and A League. His goals per game ratio in full time professional football (not NPL) is 0.53 goals/game. The best record of any strikers whilst playing for CCM is Damian Mori with 0.54 followed by John Aloisi with 0.46 and Roy O'Donovan with 0.4.

I would also love to see a "proper" striker but whilst MC still controls the purse strings I'm not sure how much of a better option we will see.

I’ve not heard of this guy, is he a trialling with the club or approached us as he wants to come home? If so, he sounds like he is a seasoned pro and while he might not set the world on fire, with no Murray or DRD, and only Simon in a dual role he (or someone like him) sounds like a good option to me...
