So we don’t want to score many this season like the last 6.
He’s here for a trial mate. Chill. If he’s good enough, he’ll be signed. If not, he won’t.
ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!
If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.
ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

It’s the others dreaming of an overseas experienced striker I’m worried about. He’s here for a trial mate. Chill. If he’s good enough, he’ll be signed. If not, he won’t.

100%
Bet your bottom dollar he isn’t the first and won’t be the last NPL trialist this pre season. Extremely common practice for every aleague team.
I can’t see any NPL player filling the lead striker role, at a pinch maybe that bloke from Wollongong that Perth signed temporarily who was golden boot and is a visa player (the main barrier to signing him previously). It’s the others dreaming of an overseas experienced striker I’m worried about.

To be fair to Murray, when we gave him decent service he scored.
Agree that the step up is hard and most won't make it but Muzz in a good side would go ok
Exactly the way I feel however I suspect the last few remaining spots will be no more than NPL players and not the experienced/Visa players we are all hopeful of. Like normal we will also probably have to wait and see what’s left of the HAL outcast players over the next month or two. Disappointing that nothing has really changed, no doubt because MC is still controlling the $$$.And here lies a huge problem. We didn't score many goals last season, have lost two of our three highest goal scorers (albeit not prolific) and our other is a year older.
Murray scored for fun at NPL level but still struggled with the step up. Our answer is not in the NPL.
Hmmmm, I feel I’m more worried than most by this roster. Weaker than last years, not sure the majority of the other team’s have lost that much to be honest.Squad signed to date, seems we have Olly, Ziggy assuming he is signed, Birighitti and Matty to direct and lead a talented team of younger players, arguably DDS falls into a leadership role as well.
Keeper’s [2] Mark Birighitti, Adam Pearce
Backs [6] Kye Rowles, Ruon Tongyik, Lewis Miller, Matt Hatch, Dan Hall, Jack Clisby
Mids [5] Daniel DeSilva, Gianni Stensness, Oliver Bozanic, Daniel Bouman, Joshua Nisbet
Forwards [1] Alou Kuol
Said to be signed,
Backs, Ziggy Gordon
Forward, Matthew Simon
You know what, I'd half consider making DDS, the VC. Some guys faff around through their careers but suddenly take that step when leadership is put on them.Squad signed to date, seems we have Olly, Ziggy assuming he is signed, Birighitti and Matty to direct and lead a talented team of younger players, arguably DDS falls into a leadership role as well.

Can't say I've seen Matty or Ziggy level leadership from either of those guys but I don't see live games oftenYou want to reward someone who has shown little leadership skills into a leadership position?
I would be rewarding someone like Kye Rowles and Mark Birighitti before him.
Victory have picked up what looks to be a handy midfielder from overseas so it is possible.Pretty hard to get o'seas players into the country for the foreseeable future. Only returning citizens. There is no one else except juniors, other clubs' cast offs or NPL players.
Yeah, I was going to reply pretty much the same. Is it only one overseas player they've signed? I thought 2.Victory have picked up what looks to be a handy midfielder from overseas so it is possible.
