ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Goal did a story on Glover over the weekend, he’s back here and a free agent. One possibility for a local keeper.

Id normally say pass. But with Staj's reputation, if we cant get an absolute #1 I think he could turn him around. If we didnt have Pearce Id say yeah absolutely.

I know we didnt see much from him in his last spell here but now with a new manager and keeper coach perhaps we're better equipped to develop a decent starting keeper if we can't find one ready to go. He got the U23 starting spot so must have shown something to be selected. Also means if playing regularly he's likely to go missing for a few rounds when that tournament is on, DDS as well maybe.

I liked him when he was here until his attitude turned to shit.
I agree that Staj and JVS could mentor him and get him up a level.
I mean if Staj is confident of pulling DDS’s head in....
He wanted to live in Wollongong last time which caused issues I believe
Personally he could live in Perth for all I care, he isn't Pearce

I hold out hope McGlinchey will come good with some serious fitness and clear duties in a well drilled side

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
From what I hear , Aidan Mumford shits all over Pearce for keeper ability ...or am I hearing wrong ?

And Glover does have actual ability. And abit of pedigree, we could definitely do worse
I rate Glover as a project. He has shown potential but not at a high level. Remember he started in front of Kennedy and was dropped after four games. While we have Pearce as a young keeper we need someone established in front of him.

Agree, it's either Pearce or Glover. Not both.

Everyone who regularly watches the youth side can attest to the fact Munford is a very good keeper. We lost 1-0 to North Shore on Sunday and it could have 3-4 without some of his smart saves. I think he needs to be given more opportunities. I would hate to see him allowed to leave and we regret it when he kills it somewhere else.

It’s more than likely going to happen as well.
With Pearce here for a while longer and whoever we sign as #1. Barring injury his chance isn’t coming anytime soon, unless Staj throws him a bone in one these friendlies before the cup game.
The biggest flaw of football in this country is the youth set up. Hopefully with an independent league the NYL will be re-done properly and extended and promising players won’t be shot down when they hit 20.
We always seem to have at very least 3 extremely good youngsters (particularly in these dark years) that are gone as soon as their 20th birthday arrives because of recycled 27yo’s. It must be devastating to these boys.

Extended the bench and make the extra/s youth contracted players outside of the cap.

The age restrictions placed on our academy are holding us back. The ability to play 4 or 5 "over age" players would help the young kids develop and if we were in NSWPL1, we could attract players who may be close to an AL gig.
If we could sign players like Muzz and that dog snake Millar into the academy side, we get to see if they are able to step up and we could build a nursery of older players as a secondary pipeline - this is especially important for keepers and CB's who develop later
CCU are all age and when they get a bit higher up the pyramid will be a much better vehicle than the FFA constrained academy.
CCU are a massive success story for the coast and CCM will be missing out big time if they dont partner with them as they rise up the pyramid.
Sydney and (maybe) WSW will be NSWPL1 next season and can attract the best juniors and we need to exploit any angle that we can
