Across the backline and in goals our new Scottish dude is the only player of starting eleven quality.

What exactly is starting 11 quality in the league? It seems like people want to crap on anything that’s not Grant, schenkeveld, Spiro, Davidson.

You’ve got many average backs in the comp spread across various teams. I don’t think our guys are significantly worse than the average player quality across the league even in the top teams. Maybe if we had the extra visa slot free we might get another back as well but we’ve got to live with the mistakes of the MM era for another season.

Yeah when you think about it last year,
Tom, Jem, Miller and Pain would get a starting spot in half the other teams approx.

This year so far the Scot and maybe the Koreans might get a starting spot in other teams but that’s still not proven yet.

However most players can thrive in a successful team.

Will be very interesting seeing Pain, Aspro and Miller in action next year!!!

Disagree we are looking strong at the back. Across the backline and in goals our new Scottish dude is the only player of starting eleven quality.

I'm hoping Scottish can provide a bit of leadership at the back.

Two other things that are going to be really important this season - discipline and fitness.

We can't afford to have key players out - suspended or injured. Our discipline last year was a problem, but no doubt connected to MM not having the respect of the players, and our ongoing performance. We can't afford red cards.

Though, we can expect our new back to cop one or two, I think. But if he's able to provide some leadership to stabilise the backs, then I reckon we might be able to get by. If we can stop the ball watching, stop the opposing number getting free, and stop giving away so many penalties then our backline will at least be mid-table quality. Most of our defensive problems have been schoolboy errors, have been for years. Other teams don't even need to earn goals against us.

Squad is looking more balanced than recent years more like Arnold's structure ... strong at the back with a fit and technical midfield ... we have never had a gun striker...Macka was our best but he was feed by a very talented midfield.
We've had a few gun strikers back in our decent days

Davidson has always been a poor defender. Ange liked him for his attack for the NT. Perth played 3 at the back and he was always further forward last season.

Many of the good backs still have their strengths and weaknesses. Galloway was similar and Zullo spent a lot of time down there too. If we’re talking starting 11 anywhere there’s only a handful of those players, and I mean we had Brown starting at Victory for a while there. We aren’t shaping up that badly and it’ll come down to what Staj can do with the squad more than the names unless we do spend big for Bart or someone similar.

Pretty distasteful and lazy if true...

How can we expect the rest of the country to stop seeing as a bunch of low brow blue collar rugby league loving Neanderthals if we keep doing shit like this?

Seriously, be better people of the central coast, you have a f**king professional football team.... It's a privilege

Millar would not have until he got the game time to prove himself.

Personally, unlike some I think Rowles clearly has what it takes to become a starting 11 quality CB at HAL level. He had some poor moments last year in a poorly organised back 3 with an even poorer keeper behind him. But he also had some very good patches too.

For mine. Ziggy. The Koreans. Hopefully our last visa player would all be of solid HAL quality. And I also think GG, Oar and DeSilva if they can get themselves into gear are starting quality. that’s hopefully 7 of 11. Add a decent keeper at last and an improving Melling, Murray and Rowles, and we’re clearly ahead imo.

Oh, and add a much better coach with better support staff, pre season and fitness etc...

There’s reason to be optimistic leading in this time I think.

Agree, this needs to stop now.

It’s self defeating if it’s from our fans. Do you want them to feel welcome and give 100% for the club or do you want them to be pissed off and here for a pay packet then piss off at the first opportunity?
We’re very fortunate to be able to get players that were getting decent minutes in the K league and we’re desperate to turn around our fortunes but people want to take the piss?

And if it’s coming from the jets fans we’re best off ignoring them. They’ve got more than enough to worry about with their own team.

For Koreans, like many other Asian cultures, face and respect are cornerstones of their existence, so we as fans definitely need to show the Seoul Brothers respect.

They have both made errors of judgement and have been punished for them, so we need to be getting behind them both and making them feel as welcome as possible, just as we should every other member of the squad, provided they are each giving what they can.

I heard this week that one of the Koreans is still recovering from a broken leg, so not sure where he is currently at in his rehabilitation schedule. Hopefully he will be ready to go for round 1 but not sure how much we will see of him in early pre-season.

For what it is worth both Korean players participated in the double session held today.

I’m sure his leg is fine, he wouldn’t be here to prove in person his ability to Staj if he had injury concerns tbh.
I liked that there was a sneak glimpse of the Seoul brothers for our general fan base in the video clips posted today.
Can’t wait to see these boys play for us, definitely softens the blow of tommy h/Jem. Especially that one is a versatile attacker.

Is anyone tracking Tommy Oars injury? Would it be reasonable to expect him at 100% by round 1?
He was doing full contact training last week when I was down there. Knee was strapped but didn’t look like it was worrying him. Such a long pre-season that I’m sure he will be ready for rd1
