I don't get it why does it seem nizzy never gets a start. Always seems to get overlooked and then when he gets subbed on looks like one of the better players on our team. Is it because of his non "physical" presence? Why do we need two physical DM's we need someone who can actually pass a ball from the start of the match.

f**k it's frustrating the amount of passes that come from the DM's that went to the opposition

I would prefer De Silva to go. He's like Caceres - technically skilled but achieves as good as nothing. Takes up cap space. We can, and need to, do better.

I have trouble believing Oli is doing much more than staying fit with us but if he was part of our rebuild I would have hope again. I would genuinely be excited even.

It has also been really noticable lately too how small our squad is. Size is not skill, but we do seem to get bullied off the ball a lot. I think the squad needs a little more balance with some bigger players in the back and front lines.
Conversely I would start Nissy every game from here on. He is the best DM we have give or take a Duric (who I would play further upfield).

But would you sign him up for next season?

He would't be first on my list. I think you need to look at the backline as a whole. Miller is raw at RB and I prefer Ziggy at CB but there are not a lot of decent options as fullbacks available and so I would classify Ziggy as one of two RBs.

I think we need a starting LB, Clisby, Starting CB, Rowles, Tongyik, Ziggy, Miller. I think we need better than Fox as the starting CB and I don't think he fits the bill as starting LB. That is seven players with Ziggy covering as a RB/CB. Do we go to 8 players or 9. If we stay at 8 then I would prefer a local with potential like Glassock. If we go to 9 I would fit in Fox.

The club needs to work out who they want to commit to in the backs, we can’t keep running a backline with a combination of Fox/Tongyik/Rowles as our CBs. It’s just not up to the required level.

My suggestion would be recruit an experienced specialist CB. Then pair him with one of Rowles, Tongyik or Fox. One of them should be back up but three is a bit overkill.
Ziggy complicates things if you want Miller to get more minutes but we need some redundancy there. Clisby likely to stay at LB and I think would benefit from a leader setting structure and whipping the line in to shape.

So I think the club needs to make a decision on how they want to handle the CB role and let one of them move on. We’ve got other areas to address.

I see pj beat me to it with a similar idea.

I had heard murmurs of Tongyik to Macarthur but that seems to have gone quiet.

I agree. Once you look at players on the books (Clisby unfortunately) and you add the young ones in, it makes it hard. We definately need an experienced CB (ala Dutchy- even a Taylor {Wellington} type). Doesn't leave much room for Glassock unless he would be scholarship?

Has been developed in Portugal into a playmaker as well as his more familiar role out wide. There are far worse footballers playing in the A League.

Up there with Kaz Patafta and dare I say Dexter Rosales ;)

If you mean there was a lot of hype a few years back I agree, but he's also been the victim of bad luck with A league clubs wanting to sign him but unwilling to due to his citizenship situation at the time and then getting injured at exactly the wrong time at Adelaide.

I view him as a player in a similar situation to someone like Max Burgess who has really bloomed when given an extended opportunity at A League level and who it could be argued is rapidly playing himself into Socceroos contention.

It looks like he has played 208 minutes of professional football in his life and none in 10 months. He is playing in a semi-pro league in Portugal - what more do you know about him?
