The 11 that we have retained look like a reasonable second XI - and mostly young. Now where are the starters?

It really is the rebuilding year season coming up. Each signing needs to be a starter - though happy to extend Ruiz-Diaz cheaply as the 23rd.

Should he retire? Probably, COVID, reduced media deals and other circumstances might see him get another gig but if I was in charge I'd say thanks but we're not offering an extension. Happy to have him around the club or work towards his post football career with us, maybe some NPL on the side? but we need to aspire to more. No longer a starting player and we're not going to develop/sell him so what's the plan?

We know three of the players on your list are gone or extremely unlikely to return.
Probably lose Birighitti.
Should let go: McGlinchey, Simon, Jair (either start him or let him go if not good enough for that)
Questions over Duric's condition with that injury (hernia?) that still seems to be slowing him down.
Likely keep Ziggy, RD
Fox & Melling could go either way depending on squad needs and their wages.

My understanding is that the players whose contracts expired 31 May this year had to sign an extension to see out the rest of the season - Oar et al.

Players like Kim and McGlinchey obviously did not extend after leaving the country, Harold didn't and yeah the rumours are Birraz off to Macarthur.

Otherwise all of those players in the 2020 list are off contact after these 4 games and there have been no announcements of any of them yet being re-signed. Wouldn't expect to hear either, if they tell us who is re-signed it kind of makes it clear who is off and they don't want to do that yet.

Where did McGlinchey go to?

Harold leaving back to Perth was an interesting one for me.

If he never joined us, then he would be with Glory staying in NSW for the rest of the comp.

If he went back to Perth for family/personal reasons related to Covid, i can understand that as WA wasnt hit that hard, but would he have refused to travel with the Glory squad? i highly doubt that.

It seems likely that he used Covid as a good reason to leave the club (sinking ship)

Makes me wonder what he saw/experienced while here that made him want to leave ASAP.

I heard that he was still studying (Law?) and Popovic didn;t like that. He has finished his studies now and he probably going back to WA to start practising.

On the last Coast Football Ramble pod Shaun said that the club would be announcing some player retentions in the next fortnight. i.e. we would probably announce some retentions sometime after the next game on Monday.

Starting to have doubts about Duric. He is looking old. But I guess beggars can't be choosers.

I now what you mean - but he does have quality. TBH having Melling and Stensness next to him did him no favours tonight. He looked better with Nisbet as well. Imagine him and Oli together with a visa AM with De Silva and Nizzy as backups/options with Oli also able to play out wide.

No De Silva for me. He’s the black hole. Slows everything down (so do most of them). Does a few spins plays with the ball waits for the opponents to get set then turns it over or passes it backwards. SFC can have him back.
