Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

Discussion and associated views involves diverse opinion and therefore disagreement.
Every second post is going to have someone disagree, if you can’t deal with that and expand your thought process on different views, you shouldn’t have access to the internet in general. And regardless of that, most come to this forum for more inside access and information on the club from those more educated or with more insight in those topics.

MY SINS-mea culpa.

1.I expressed something that is self-evident; that development players in an ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE club are, on average, superior to those of our bottom dwelling A league club. Loyalty is one thing, blinkered stupidity is another.

2. I expressed frustration at Pikeys stinginess which has led to our dismal record in recent years.

3.I expressed frustration at the continual use of a chronic under performer and instead of lauding him.

4.I expressed concern that a player was prejudiced against Gypsies/Roma-how terrible of me!

5.I expressed support for Mallon’s ability and work ethic last year. These were even more noticeable because of the contrasting performance of those around him.

6.I dared to point out the hypocrisy of another member who suggested that criticism of Matt Simon was cowardly.

7. I dared to dislike the band. Apparently I am not alone.

8. I dared to push back against being labelled a troll/spoof account.

9. My worst offence was to mistake this forum for one where discussion and associated range of views was OK. I didn’t realise that that instead it was just an echo chamber whose purpose is to support and promote the perceived wisdom of a few old hands. I won’t waste my time trying to change this.

Just as Ballantyne disappeared after ignorant abuse on whether a change in a coach matters, (and the data supports him) I won’t be back. So pile on everyone, I wont be around to notice; you deserve each other.

You forgot to mention how you strode in here with your self righteous, holier than thou attitude - a pretty surefire way to Put yourself on the back foot straight away.

Oh, no they don't.

I wonder if we'll see any player(s) arrive now the transfer window has slammed shut.
I wasn't too impressed with those two names a few pages back. Jonathan Benteke, and I can't remember the other one.
Roar picked up a bloke from Shrewsbury (Holloway) who has only scored a handful in a gazillion games. Although he is listed or attacker or CB.
There are rough diamonds out there but goodness knows how you pick them.
Bristol Rovers signed Jonson Clarke-Harris in January. He'd had a pretty mediocre career.
But has been a scoring sensation since signing.

Free agent window still has a couple months, if anything a few players would’ve been released and it could be slightly easier to tempt one last visa player down here.
You’re right though, we had a few average players linked with us. But there hasn’t been a true rumour for a couple weeks now.

Forum is full of agreement and disagreement. I’ve seen all the many regulars I can think of post opinions that they know or suspect will go against the grain. So I don’t think it’s an echo chamber.

The gypsy stuff may have all just been a bit of a misunderstanding and definitely got things off on the wrong foot from what I saw. New forum members who make considered posts are always actively welcomed on here. Seen it many times. But joining any new group, also common sense to still try and tread a little lightly and not get into any stinks and build some credibility.

I’ve been waiting for it to close.

Hoping this is the period where all those free agents will finally grow the right shade of desperate to be susceptible to our wily and very dubious ccm charms.

Honestly, for the past 6 months, we must have been about as attractive as a vomit stained drunk with a head like a smashed crab, staggering out of a brothel to propose to the first girl he sees with a pull ring from his tinny.

I’m amazed anyone has been willing to go home with us at all.

Sorry to any I’ve offended by recounting your wedding proposal.

So harry sawyer and Jacob Esposito are on trial. Sawyer is a big target man, I’ve never seen him play but he’s scored goals in the Phillipines, only 22. Any have anymore info?
Esposito was linked with us about 6 months ago. Never seen him play either, defender was with MT Druitt most recently apparently.

De Silva set for striker role as Olyroos look to mimic Socceroos

By Dominic Bossi
September 5, 2019 — 5.14pm

Daniel De Silva is set to be deployed in the unfamiliar role of striker on Friday night in Wollongong when the Olyroos face New Zealand as part of a tactical change that will see the young national teams follow the formation set by the Socceroos.

As part of a streamlining of the junior national teams style of play with the senior squad, the Olyroos will be deploy the same system as Graham Arnold's side, a 4-2-3-1 system that will effectively have three strikers inside the box whenever in attack.

That change in tactics was put in place by new Olyroos coach Gary van Egmond who has been tasked with ensuring the under-23s are playing in the same style as the Socceroos. It will see the fullbacks press high and join the attack as part of an aggressive style of play that will see numbers thrown into attack rather than rely on playing on the counter.

"We try to implement as much as what the Socceroos play so the same style of play and the same formation. Obviously that’s the pathway and that’s a big goal," De Silva said. "It’s a very aggressive and attacking style of play, the 4-2-3-1 formation with numbers into the box."

It's the system Australia will test against New Zealand before deploying in their Olympic Games qualifiers begin in January with the AFC Under-23 Championships.

Among those playing in the three-pronged forward line will be De Silva who is normally regarded as an attacking midfielder but is set for a change in role that he could be eyeing for his international future.

"In the national team set up I play more as a striker than a midfielder. It's alright, I really enjoy it up there. Hopefully I can score some goals for the team," he said. "I normally play in the midfield at the [Central Coast] Mariners in the number 10 position. In the national team, it’s obviously a little bit different. I am really enjoying it at the moment. It’s just about what the coach thinks first and my quality to suit the team. I am quite happy to play as a striker in the national team and hopefully do my part to score my goals."

Bodes well for us. Goal scoring is his weakness. He has the quality to succeed in front of goal.

He seems wasted as the 1 but as part of the 3 row I could see it working. I was surprised Wenzel Halls didn’t get a look in though, I thought he deserved it after what he showed at Brisbane.

So I didn’t watch much of the first tassie friendly just skipped through bits and pieces after the fact. But I did like the look of skokadis I think it was?
He looked very comfortable on the ball and pretty decent in the tackle from what I saw. I haven’t had the chance to research him. So can anyone save me the time and give some info on him?
Already think he’s a better option than Melling.
