GOSFORD Central Coast Mariners will take on fellow AFC Champions League qualifiers Shandong Luneng in the second of two friendly matches in China, as the Australians prepare for their ACL debut.
The Mariners, who open their ACL Group H campaign at home to Pohang Steelers before facing Tianjin Teda in China on Matchday 2, play Shandong on March 3, three days after taking on 2008 Jia A winners Jiangsu Sainty in Kunshan.
We're very serious about success in the AFC Champions League and these warm-up matches will provide us with the perfect preparation for the adventures that lie ahead for us," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.
The Mariners kick-off their AFC Champions League adventure against the Steelers on March 11, while Shandongs third ACL campaign begins a day earlier when the 2006 quarter-finalists take on defending champions Gamba Osaka in Japan.
