GOSFORD Central Coast Mariners will take on fellow AFC Champions League qualifiers Shandong Luneng in the second of two friendly matches in China, as the Australians prepare for their ACL debut.

The Mariners, who open their ACL Group H campaign at home to Pohang Steelers before facing Tianjin Teda in China on Matchday 2, play Shandong on March 3, three days after taking on 2008 Jia A winners Jiangsu Sainty in Kunshan.

We're very serious about success in the AFC Champions League and these warm-up matches will provide us with the perfect preparation for the adventures that lie ahead for us," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

The Mariners kick-off their AFC Champions League adventure against the Steelers on March 11, while Shandongs third ACL campaign begins a day earlier when the 2006 quarter-finalists take on defending champions Gamba Osaka in Japan.

its great news & "the clash against Shandong Luneng at the 43,700 seater Shandong Provincial Stadium will be broadcast live on China Central Television (CCTV) - showcasing the Mariners and the Central Coast to China's phenomenal potential television audience of some 1.2 billion." from http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/96806,chinese-acl-taster-for-mariners.aspx

Should be able to watch via streaming. Cool!

Should have been about 5-1 really, Gumps hit the bar, as did Kwas with a header, plus I think Mrdja might have?  Was all 1 way traffic most the game.

Huke looks ok from his brief 45 mins, got stuck in, showed plenty of energy and distributed it well.....needs a real test against better opposition though.

Caceres' first touch was still foul

Huke did look good - and seemed to have a bit of hunger and mongrel about him. Rizzo also combined very well with Heff and Nik.

From memory the lineups were as follows - correct me if I'm wrong
First half lineup

Redmayne

Clarky O'Grady Pedj Dapuzzo

Huke
Osman Lewis

Caceres

Simon Dmac

Second half

Redmayne

Sherlock Boogs Wilko Heff

Porter Gumps

Kwas Owens Rizzo

Nik

Brady Smith got a run in both halfs subbing for Lewis and Sherlock

Heff was outstanding booming down the left handside setting up Nik's goal. I think he is getting back to the Heff of old. A good sign for the Mariners!

Not too hopeful of the game tomorrow (Saturday) being broadcast, but the Shandong one should be on CCTV-5 (it being the CCTV sports channel and all).

Download and install this - http://www.sopcast.org/
Load it up and select the "Live Channels" tab
Scroll down to "CCTV Group", double click on the right one
Wait for it to load, watch, and enjoy

For those who have the Sopcast:

We are currently being shown on 'GD Sports' against whoever-it-is-we're-playing-today, we're up 1-0 with about 2 minutes to go until halftime.

The pitch is worse than Bluetongue.  ;D
