ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners identity. Who are we? What do we represent?

this week has again shown the general attitude towards the mariners by some high profile analysts, media and general public on social media…

Victory throw away a lead with silly defending and get a draw (45% possession 5 shots to 21) "great to see aussie teams giving it a go… unlucky not to win"

WSW score early and park the bus to win (30% possession 6 shots to 14) "huge win for aussie team away, smart football, Poppa's rotation policy pays dividends"

Mariners play a smart, attacking but not over committed game and win over J-league champions (40% possesion 5 shots to 10) "negative football… australians will only embrace the ACL if teams give it a go… boring football"

To be honest, all the stuff I've read about our game on Tuesday was "Mariners stun J-League champions". Haven't seen the negative football line trotted out!

Some times big matches are boring because of the equal ability or what's at stake.

Teams that play a media hyped play good football at all costs will be exposed like victory were last night. They were lucky enough to reply quite similar to our first goal in that it was straight away

. copies of the loose cannon are limited ... and many people do not have the time or inclination to read every item contained therein whilst at, or preferably before, the game

. the biggest issue that people not in the bay have is that they don't even know which tune goes with which words and when they are sung in the bay the words are not clearly audible throughout the ground. this may cause confusion, uncertainty and an excuse to not get involved

. this is why the simple chants and the march are important to get people involved ... everything becomes much clearer and therefore much easier to participate ... if not practically compulsory to join in

I sit in bay 26 and know all the words to the songs and normally sing them, but its always me singing by myself, and although im lloud emough for everyone around me to hear, no1 joins in and I sing along by myself :'(

Actually been to games/involved with YA?

Well these days I live interstate so I rarely attend home games, although I was involved with the YA back in the old days. All I am saying is that although it's great to hear the YA generating match atmosphere (capitalised by their fine effort on Tuesday night), hearing the Tetris theme every 10 minutes grows a little tiresome the 8th time around or so in a match...

may i respectfully request that you pick up an instrument, join the band then offer up new songs for the group to play… OR sit back and enjoy the amazing atmosphere that these guys provide without an unsolicited critique?

I suggest you listen a little closer. It doesn't get played even close to 8 times a game.

I've no idea what the "Tetris" theme is, and for mine the band can play whatever they bloody well like as often as they bloody well want to. I'm thoroughly enjoying the added atmosphere they bring to matches. Keep up the good work guys.
ill hum it for you…

ba, bam bam ba, bam bam bam, bam bam ba, bam bam baaaaa, ba ba, ba, bam. bam. ba... " HEY! "

All I'm saying is that I don't want to see us go the way of the RBB who repeat the same chants over and over. I reckon there's enough creativity, musical ability and ingenuity amongst our band members to churn out plenty of great songs that are easy for people to follow.

With all due respect then, it's probably best for you not to comment on things you clearly don't know about. We play it twice a game at most, generally towards the end of each half. Your suggestion that we play it every 10 minutes is frankly insulting.

. to be fair it does stick in your head a lot longer  :piralaugh:

This. I may not be in the active support these days, but it's not because I shun them. I live interstate, otherwise I'd be happy to stand with them and play my part. Back when I was a regular match attendee and a member of active support, I offered plenty of ideas for songs and tifo displays. I was the person who first came up with the 'No-one rates us, we don't care!' slogan. I'm basing my opinion from what I hear when I watch the games these days. I didn't know that not being a member of the club meant my opinion was invalid?

I'm going to be counting how many times the Tetris theme gets played tomorrow and if it's only as many times as some on here are claiming, I'll happily concede defeat. I care more about our active support getting better and better than I do about being right. My ego isn't that big.
