I said we're top of the league and you're noooooot
Said we're top of the league
I said we're top of the league
I said we're top of the league and you're nooooooot

Simple, but incredibly effective.  The 'not' doesn't look like it works in text, but sing it to yourself and draw it out a bit, and it sounds great.  Anyone wanna give this a go with me on Monday??

the whole essence of the original song is for a group to be united for one purpose.
the meaning gets lost in this version.

its like "you'll never walk alone"

Roger that Jimmydinho and completely agree.
Mate out of courtesy as this was your brain child that I'm now trying to run with,

I have been thinking long and hard about songs I think we have to keep it simple some of us aren't the brightess tools in the shed including me what if we get 2GO or Sea fm to get a local school to record

WE ALL FOLLOW A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM
A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM
A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM
WE ALL FOLLOW A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM
A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM
A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM

DO THIS ABOUT 3 OR 4 TIMES AND THE LAST ONE THEN THE LAST ONE LIKE THIS
WE ALL FOLLOW A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM
A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM
A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM
AND THEY ARE THE MARINERS
MARINERS,MARINERS CONT.

We could have it playing on the loud speakers at the start of the games and when we score all our goals. Hopefully it will get the rest of the crowd not just the marinators singing really loud. I'm not a marinator but I sit in bay 17 a try and cheer as loud as i can if you think this is a good
idea let me know and i will try to arrange something or if someone else can arrange it it would be great. GO YOU YELLOW!!!

Win or lose, sink or swim,
We will never, give in.
Side by side, hand in hand,
Together, we always stand.
Play our game, fight our fight,
Hearts ablaze, with all our might.
Arm in arm, hand in hand,
Together, the yellow, STAND...

This song up there ^ is a really good idea. Also don't forget just having a song without changing the words is good too? A lot of clubs have adopted songs over the years. (eg. West Ham - Bubbles etc.)

Having "We All Stand Together" before and while the guys run on would be great. But also having it play at the final whistle REGARDLESS of the result.

I don't know how hard it would be getting them to play it at the stadium, I'm sure they'd have do some copyright stuff first.

Great idea for a song though. It's something everyone can sing too, and a classic song.

Fark, if Sydney can try that joke of a song they ran with earlier this year, anything would be way better than that piece of crap.

Agree about not messing with the words or tune, however the only downside is that the recorded version is a bit wimpy or "childish" sounding.

Maybe the answer is to look into recording a more inspirational version of it - possibly gets around some of the copyright issues as well.

It does sound somewhat 'childish' I suppose. But I still think it would be great to have playing. People would sing along for sure. Especially in the "bom.... bom bom" parts :D

On the other hand, and going back to West Ham's song, have you heard the recorded versions of "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles"? (Not the version by Cockney Rejects). It is very old and sounds a lot like something that would be playing on a merry go round.

I don't know how the copyrighting would work, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a big deal to sort out for a registered club.

hi guys, whatever song we choose we need to have it playing through the speakers so everybody  can here it,because we are in the open it want sound loud.Maybe we should also have the words on the big screen so people can sing along. If anyone needs a hand organizing this let me know i'm willing to give a hand if i can.  GO YOU YELLOW!!!

I think a "club song" (as opposed to that wanky bilge the Bling tried) is a must for the club.

Doesnt have to be specific to the game at all just a simple melody that everyone can remember.

Words can go on the screen to prompt every one to sing it as the players walk out or prepare to kick off.

Maybe we should run a poll on here to vote on something.

Ideas??

I dont think we should force anything down peoples throats like sydney did, I know you might not be saying that, but I think we should just let it happen, sing it one week, if it goes well then sing it again.
People will catch onto it, and a the older heads that dont usualy join us in the bays will know what song it is, and hopefully then join in.

I see what you're saying, but it's hard enough to get simple chants to catch on and spread around. A club song would be something much more lyrically complex than a chant.

Playing it over the PA, with the lyrics on the screen would probably be necessary to involve the whole crowd and build some passion and tradition.... and to teach everyone the words early on.

Seeing what sydney tried, i imagine the idea came from someone within the club without consulting the cove.... and it sucked and the fans didn't like it (i assume).

I think it's a start that fans are at least thinking about this now. Either we come up with something and approach the club about it, or, if the club is thinking of doing something (a la sydney's attempt), they might (hopefully) approach the Marinators club for input, who will have valuable feedback to draw upon from these forum discussions.

Either way it will have more meaning by having some input from fans.

Whatever song it is, its needs to be simple, melodic and easy to sing.

Dont forget, last night 2 or 3 times the "lets go Mariners" chant was started in Bay 16 FFS!!! Thankfully it died of shame as no one wanted to humiliate themselves to that extent but lets not run before we can walk eh??

I believe it needs to be well known song (copyright issues of course) and can be totally unrelated to the game itself.

That probably means a ballad not a rock song TBH.
