Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Let's get Bosnich!!

Reddy is an absolute c**t of a human being who should never be allowed anywhere near our club.

He is a spiteful, nasty footballer who delights in lashing out in a sneaky way if he thinks the ref isnt looking.

V1 - Scumdome semi. Sullys leg.

Spot on Greenpole. I detest him and would never cheer him even if he did become a Mariner.

I can't see Lawrie going in for him anyway.

Agreed.
Also he always has the same stupid expression when playing.
Worried.
He should be. He should be.

Reddy's a bit of a meathead (must be the League upbringing) but he's a pretty good keeper.

It would be stupid to bring him in to the squad, as Danny would have competition from an established A-Leaguer when it's time to get his spot back. That and he would be stupid to jump for a "temp" spot when he's established where he is.

I'm showing a bit of Northern Spirit bias here (well maybe more than just a bit), but if Danny was to sign for an overseas club, getting Paul Henderson from Leicester City must surely be an option.

As far as non-Australian keepers go, there is a young Paraguayan called Joel Silva who is currently the starting keeper at Guarani ahead of Joel Zayas who played in the Copa America last year. He is currently with the Paraguayan U23 squad and has a big future ahead of him.

i think it would be a waste of the clubs money to buy another keeper to cover danny
we should give redmaye a solid hit out in goals in pre season i think he is the answer wen danny leaves to go play in europe the guy is 19 a joeys keeper thats got to say alot he trailed with arsnal didnt he?
im all for redmaye to cover danny and as for trott well good guy but unless he gets abit of mungral into him he will always be second in line to any keeper
unless we buy reddy then we use trott as number 1 hate that fagot

While I was'nt impressed with Trott it would be a wast of money buying a keeper when Danny will return at some stage, hopefully sooner than nov 24 (fingers crossed on the appeal) Danny could spend his ample time getting Trott and Redmayne up to scrach and trial both in the pre season. I've heard that Redmayne is pretty good and he could come under serious consideration one would hope.

The other point to this, is that Lawrie brought Redmayne into the squad to cover for Danny's absence when the Olyroos played this past season, and Trott was given the gig in the starting lineup.

If he had confidence in these two for the 2007/08 season, I can't see Lawrie changing tack for the expected absence of Danny for a fair bit of 2008/09 season.

BRING ON REDMAYNE

Who remembers Bosnich commentating the Australia v Nigeria game? Was quite funny.

Maybe they could mike him up during a game and he could give a commentary with his mate Slater a la Gilchrist in the 20/20

I think we should run with the keepers we have already. Invest in a powerhouse midfield attacker and maybe a solid  sweeper, would be where I'd like to see money invested.... The less ball  going to a keeper the better a team is anyway.... And Danny sure has some spare time to teach both Trott and Redmayne a few more tricks of the trade...

Paul Robinson won't be at Tottenham come transfer window, we should sign him :eek:verhead:
Just don't let anyone shoot from distance and we'd be right :ashamed:

Was he the Robinson playing for England?
If so. Sign! He may have not stopped Ronaldo's penalty last world cup.. but he is a good quality keeper :)

or John Filan may fancy a short term contract?

Get realistic people, it's either Trott, Redmayne or a short term contract.....

It remains to be seen what can be done. This may get muddier yet.  Perth couldn't sign anyone to cover Lazaridis.

Danny is not injured therefore no short term injury contract can be signed.  Will FFA allow a short term contract - or will we have to sign a 4th keeper or stick with Trotty & Redmayne?

I imagine a 4th keeper would be needed but I can't see Lawrie wasting a spot in a squad of 23 players on another keeper, he'll stick with Trotty IMHO.....perhaps this is the game time Trotty needs to boost his confidence?

if we loan out Trott or Redmayne to the state league, does that keep one of them off our squad list. signing 4 keepers, whatever the situation is stupid. I reckon we need to loan both of them out in the off season to the best place we can find as they are both going to need all the experience they can get. is there anything other than the WSL happening in the off season, if not, is there somewhere overseas we could loan either of them for a start? if we decide to go with a short term keeper, we are going to need to get either Trott or Redmayne off our squad list for the season and therefore we should loan one of them, presumably Redmayne off to a state league team, somewhere where he can get a start, hopefully for the season. If we decide to sign a new goalie, it shouldnt be that hard since JC is the best coach in Australia IMO and he runs what is essentially a "center of goalkeeping excellence"
