Managed to make it back from Canberra in time (now waiting to see if the coppers with the radar took any notice of me) to see Danny's falcon (save of the year - the boy is brilliant).

O'Grady was fantastic.  Right up there for MOM.  After watching it in whole today I've got to say that Boogs did a mighty job.  It's early days and he still probably has a lot to do but if the coaches do their job Jedi's departure might not translate into the apocalypse so many have been suggesting.

After asking on a number of occasions for the players to be taught to shoot with both feet, can I now suggest that they be taught to shoot.  Too much piss farting around and being in the wrong position (learn to anticipate for farks sake).  There's nothing wrong with mixing it up.  Twiddle around with it and tie the defence in knots, but don't dismiss the value in blazing the odd one from outside or on the 18 yard box and thereby keeping the opposition guessing as to what you are going to do. At the moment it looks like we're trying to look too good for our own good.

All Nik has to do is remember Matty.  The boy couldn't hit the side of a barn last season, and we all know what's happened this season.  With that being the case it stands to reason that Nik will win the Golden Boot next year.

On a positive note ... New CCM cult hero = Mathew Lewis.  Got a good cheer and a good chant going.  Is this the beginning of the youth stepping up?

Another positive note (and a bit off topic) Scum lose 4 nil to Sydney.  Can't wait to get to work tomorrow. :piralaugh:

Happy for anyone to have a different opinion but all I am saying id to say he was flat footed is incorrect. Hey there will be those that disagree with me who have kept at a decent level as well.... The forum is here for all to have different opinions just asking the obvious question - if one is to say Danny was flat footed and should have done something then i am asking what was he meant to do? Fact is Danny had a good game and was certainly on his toes and not flat footed (he has been somewhat flat footed recently but was not last night - probably trying to out do Eugene for the Aussie team?)

Having subsequently watched the nearly goal again and again, and noticing that at no point does Danny attempt to move off the spot which he is flatly standing on......... _pretty_ sure that's the definition of 'flat footed'.

But hey, I've never saved a goal in my life and I stand behind the goals, what do I know??

Capn - sorry chief, I forgot about that rule.  Still means I can criticise Hutch though - oh SNAP!!!!  :p

Whatever.... Lets agree to disagree - Just watched it again and he makes two skips to his left towards the ball - realises he is beaten and wishes the ball to go out. Please rewatch it - particularly the head on shot....

Haha, were you the white sedan that flew past me heading up on the freeway from Sydney!??!?! The car had a mariner sticker on it and was going like 20 above the speed limit...

Oh and lets hope they didn't catch you - double demerits and all... :p

I liked the game... I thought Breeze had some bad calls, but the game was entertaining if not frustrating at points...

Reasonable effort compared to the dross in the last couple of weeks:

1. Danny 7.5..good game apart from the falcon which showed him at his flat-fooetd worst.
2. Porter..6...not bad and tried hard but is a limited type of player.
3. Bojic...6...didn't see him after about 20 mins...who replaced him??
6. Wiko...6...not his worst apart from being to made to look a bit of a monkey on the goal.
5. O'Grady 8...MOM...Excellent...what i'd expect from a centre back every game but we rarely see at BT. Top effort.

7. Gumps..6.5....solid game...probably wishes he had better quality around him...i know i do!
8.Hutcho..5.5...average at best
11. Caceras  5.5....another relatively poor effort from a player that should/could dominate
4. Boogs..6....showed some quality but is never going to be Jedi and as i said b4 CB's NEVER make good centre midfield players.

9. Simon...6.5....fair game
10. D-Mac...4.5....rubbish tonight

Subs...Nik 5...annoying. Owens..6... still looked better than Osman.

What do you rate the Ref and the pitch? I thought there were some poor decisions and I noticed few players sliding on the pitch.

Both were Pathetic. Breeze is a disgrace.  He was pretty good a few weeks ago but back to being a complete moron again last night.
Pitch is TERRIBLE  are they using Umina's groundsman?

That wasn't me. Was doing about 120 and passed 2 coppers peering into their radar with their car doors open and ready to go.  Hoping like buggaree that they decided I wasn't worth it.  Fingers crossed.

Really?  What would you rate him?  What did he do that was good?

He is a top player but was poor last night.

YOU sir are an idiot.....

Agree +1

All fun and games Mr Wombat.... DMAC was far from 4.5 and was our best forward on the field Matty included... but hey we can all agree to disagree

For all those people who dont understand what being flat footed is...

When someone has a shot, and a keeper stands still, with his feet flat on the ground, whilst watching the ball fly past, THATS BEING FLAT FOOTED

Danny made a few good reflex saves the other night, and indeed all year. But at times he is a bigger statue than Sasho, and if you cant see this, your blind IMO

As any keeper will tell you, you look like a dickhead if you stand there and do nothing, but if you at least make an attempt to get down to a shot, hey you might just save it, and you will definately not look like a dickhead, and posts like this will stop

To be fair, Danny analysed the ball's trajectory and determined that it would rebound off the post at a dangerous angle. Therefore the best course of action was to be as still as a statue, since diving toward the shot would have resulted in the ball hitting his body and being turned into the net. So Danny stood still and angled his face so that the ball would collide with it and be pushed *away* from goal, whilst also giving the spectators a good laugh. This is all goalkeeping 101

On a tangent here, but I reckon goalies look just as big a dickhead as the ones that stand flat footed, if they go in the other direction to where a shot is placed.

I know sometimes they have to guesstimate where the player will shoot, but they always look ridiculous when it all goes pearshaped.

Mind you, by the time the ball gets to the goalie to save, there are already 10 other players who should be feeling bad about it (as a many a goalie has said as much to me!). The goalie always is the one who 'concedes' the goal but really the whole team has failed by the time the ball goes into the net.

Totally agree he has been flat in many games but if you look at the free kick he does move 3 steps to his left - that ain't flat footed. You would also agree that a well struck shot from a free kick is often the hardest and as a keeper you are often wishing it out.  Agree he has been flat footed too many times this year - more often than not evident when he falls over backwards as his weight distribution is wrong...

Goalkeeper Wisdom 101 - it always has to go through 10 players before you....

Yes he did move a few steps. Then stops. And watches it hit the post. Its still flat footed, but also not backing himself to make the same imo

I actually thought he was going for highly sought after and coveted falcon of the year award, I could be wrong though?
