ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Whilst I would suffer more than anyone, I would gladly support the club if they decided to close the bars at HT or not sell full strength.
most ridiculous thing ever said on the forum.....

You think? You cant get full strength after HT at either the scumdome or Telstradome. If we turned down a reported $1.3m shirt sponsorship from a grog company because of our family "image", I dont think this is too big a step.

Push it one step further....why not have the whole stadium dry?

Can't folks stop drinking for the time they are in the stadium, particularly as there is a Leagues Club only across the road should they really want to drink some grog. ;D
ban???

but to say that you would 'gladly support' it....

Ah, fair enough. I would be prepared to support it as a self sacrifice for the greater good of others

and knowing that coke is sold in the ground and hip flasks fit easily in pockets?

I whole-heartedly support anyone who drinks Coke. As does FIFA. Coke is one of their oldest corporate partners.

I agree 100% with fruitbat.

But what can we do?

Why post that here?

Foxtel sports is a great package for football fans. Go for it, because we can't do anything about dickheads in bay 26.

This forum is for football nerds with too much time. I sympathise completely fruitbat, but what do you want me, personally, to do?
I'll do it.

+1. Good post. And most likely, those that were swearing within earshot of Mrs. Fruitbat and family, are not regular forumites to this forum. Or, if they were, have no idea who the Fruitbat family are!
Question for fruitbat: did you try to do something about all this language that was upsetting you and your family, or did you just sit there or move away? Because you have a right, as a paying spectator, to ask people mouthing off to tone it down, and also to report the matter to security. And if you haven't done all in your own little power to stop this by exercising those rights, why come on here to make an anonymous complaint that can go nowhere? One could almost suggest it cowardly if you haven't done something about it at the time.
Go to any NRL, AFL,  RU Test or Cricket Test /One Dayer and the language will be there. When people get excited they momentarily lose some restraint. They shouldn't, but they do.

Your not going to the right games then imo

local comp kids games??

p.s kids hear much worse at school etc, whether you like it or not.
[/quote]

Disagree, we have been going to the right games. They are junior comp games and they have been very entertaining. We should be encouraging soccer at the grassroots level and part of that is taking kids to watch quality games. They should be enouraged to watch games at Bluetongue.
Worse CAN be heard at school but it isnt endorsed (as some critics on this forum do) and you dont pay good money to hear it. Some children at the matches arent even at school yet by the way.

Fruibat, or fruitcake??

P.S.  Your quip about the viability of the club being at risk because our crowds are down........ really??   You read the news at all??  40 million dollar investment over the next couple of years??   Record levels of sponsorship??

P.P.S   And as much as it makes me  in horror, I agree with Keensy.  Kids hear far worse at school and on television.  Perhaps being exposed to this early will turn them into a passionate FOOTBALL fan when they grow older, and they'll come join us in the bay.

I hadnt heard about the funding you mentioned, thats fantastic, but I was refering recent concerns in the media about poor attendances and the effect on club finances.
You cant be seriously be suggesting that the swearing mentioned earlier is a good thing for kids?

I dont think anyone in their right mind would argue that swearing is appropriate for kids. Which is probably why no one has.

As posted above, if someone near you behaves in a manner that you believe contravenes the grounds rules, why not talk to security? I understand not confronting someone ranting and raving, that can cause a worse incident TBH.

The bit I hate most about being a parent is when you have to deal with them being exposed to things that confront how you are trying to bring them up. All you can do is use it as an opportunity to point out how they ought to behave (and why).

Mine are older now so the things they confront are much more serious (drugs etc etc) and that will happen when you arent there to educate them.

Good luck

Hi GB,

I'm not asking anyone to do anything. I felt frustrated last night after the game and noticed the thread title. If you guys knew of a proposal to improve the stadium I figured some sort of signage/reminder could help prevent this problem. (I thought club officials might take notice of suggestions on this site). It looks like I was wrong.

I'm sure that you will find them very helpful if you ring their offices. This is an unofficial site and has no connection with the club whatsoever (their lawyers insisted on it lol)

Having said all that, I think that 2 or 3 bays that are designated "Family" areas would be a good thing.
I think they already have this.Western stand up at the palm tree end ?

1 bay i believe? Sold out very quickly? (could be wrong)

If so, 2-3 allocated dry/family bays is a good call. There are quiet and noisy people scattered everywhere. I reckon a lot of potentially vocal people may be holding back out of respect for passive supporters in their area.

There are definetely people holding back but I think it has more to do with half a bay turning and staring at anyone shouting as if they were some sort of alien.

I went to a couple of games in Scotland recently with smallish crowds...7500 & 9500.You could stand or sit and shout anything you like within reason and remain unnoticed because almost everyone else was doing the same.

Having said that the potential for us is definetely there. All it needs is a spark.Last night it was the retaken penalty. After that it was a different crowd around me.......very vocal.Mind you it's no coinsidence that everyone had consumed a couple by then lol!!

So perhaps as well as extending the family "dry" area they should provide 3 or 4 free schooners to the rest of us on the way in and turn the place into a raging fortress from the ko!! ;D
