How to do up Bluetounge

If we buy the management rights to Bluetounge  as the smh article said today.... ideas for changes

Mine paint the outside of the stadium in the Mariner logo. As you enter the stadium on the club side that big white wall as you walk in should have a picture of each years squad. The sides of the steps going up to the stands should have Mariner logos.

The seats at the HE should have Mariners in Yellow painted on and the same in the lower stands of the eastern and western grandstands.

Make if look like a football ground so the ACL supporters & teams will understand they are at a football ground ... as will the NRL & RU supporters teams that play there.

We approached the venue about painting the seats yellow back in V1....no prizes for guessing the response LOL.

Yellow and blue seating would look like twice the crowd every week though. Oh, and of course a roof for 'The Bay' ;)

1. Fix the pitch.

...

Then, depending on how much resources (time & money) we are talking...
2. Improve the home end, (esp. acoustics - at least a roof over the walkway & upper rows. Bar? Increase capacity? could go on but it's all pointless unless we have any idea of the scale of improvements & budget being considered)
3. Signage, aesthetics, etc. (relatively minor compared to our home end dreams)

Will try to resist the temptation to go overboard with grand plans unless we hear of some ludicrous budget figure

1. Get rid of the bears seats and replace them with yellow seats.
2. Never let anything resembling an egg anyone near the stadium.
3.Sack the greenkeeper immediately and get pumps that work.
4.Get rid of the idiot on the microphone.
5. Fix all the broken seats in the stadium.

Turn the Northern End into a VfB Stuttgart style terrace where seats are easily installed/uninstalled, depending on what event is to be held.

Get us some sort of a roof whilst we're at it.

Serious that idea is perfect except for the issue of costings which is a serious(pardon the pun) unknown with this..Does anyone have any idea what kinda money we're looking at should we end up with the management rights?

Yeah but the Blades guy has how many clubs to split his interests in? Hey give Man $hitty a break, they arent that bad...much. So you think that we just ask for the money and we shall recieve? Or would it be a case of raising some money of our own first, then ask for the topup from the Blades dude?

You have a penchant for lower table teams, it's kinda weird.......

I think it's a case of organic growth, stemming from regular (here's hoping) participation in Asia and this whole deal drumming up interest for us overseas.  TV rights deals for the A-League, merchandising, all those sorts of things.

Guys, guys.....hold on a moment.
Has anyone been able to confirm that the Mariners have taken over the stadium management yet?

In the press releases and articles today, the emphasis has been on the establishment of The Mariners Trust, the involvement of McCabe and the building of the Tuggerah Complex. There's been a mention of taking on the stadium management, but that was offered as something into the future.

Also, with people like Turnbull and McCabe involved, the taking on of stadium management might prove too much of an expenditure and little profit.

Maybe the better option would be to have an investment in the stadium management company - even if it's only a sizeable minimal stake. Just enough to get the Mariners matches a priority when events are being planned.

Talk of spending money on seats that are still working perfectly well, talk of the Mariners somehow owning the stadium when it may be a black hole of expenditure, talk of our man McCabe just throwing money around, are just fanciful ideas.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. All this money that McCabe wants to invest will see some return, plus interest, to him. I doubt he is a philanthropist with a sudden interest in throwing a shitload of money at some small Australian football club just so the folks here will think he's a nice guy.

The Mariners Trust is a good idea, so long as the parameters of how the Trust operates are clearly spelt out, which I am sure they have been. It also only has a majority share in the club, allowing others to still have some input into the club, and a spot on the board. So opposing views can be tabled, but obviously the majority shareholders will have the final say.

I applaud the Mariners for taking this more global view of how a club should operate, and I suspect there will be some teeth gnashing in other clubs and even in other codes, should all go ahead well.

It would have been so easy for the Mariners to continue trying to rake in the sponsors, think of only winning the next comp. and then  "oh who do we get for the ACL?" sort of local thinking, but behind the scenes, the club has taken a very forward thinking step and realised that should the A-League continue being a success, that the hallmarks of success will require this level of infrastructure.

And by adopting the same outlook, I can see how easy it would be for the Trust to look at Bluetongue, see what it can offer for now, realise that a newer (not necessarily much bigger) stadium may be needed down the track and to save their pennies for then.

I think it needs to be said again but

1. fix the pitch (an interesting comment on saturday night from Harper was the pitched looked bad but it was still one of the best in the league  ) and keep people off the pitch!

As to a roof I reckon a bit of colour bond and about 20 or so of us could do a bang up DIY for a reasonably small price. Another 20 or so and some paint and the seats would be done in about a year ;)

oh and knock out the concrete at the back of the bay. a couple of sledge hammers ought to fix that. for when we put the bar in of coures  ;D

Clarence let us dream please.  :p it is probably a good thing we aren't controlling the money but we can have a bit of fun.  ;D

From the article ..."Other key trust plans include the establishment of a world-standard youth program based at Tuggerah, closer ties between the Mariners and McCabe's international network of clubs - principally Chinese side Chengdu Blades and the newly formed UAE side Dubai Blades - taking over Bluetongue Stadium's management rights, the recruitment of at least two foreign imports for next year's Asian Champions League campaign, and a loan player from Sheffield United in the next few weeks."

Tbh there isn't much wrong with BlueTongue from a Sydney Perspective. One negative at the moment is obviously the pitch which we all hope will be in good condition come Saturday.
As for changes to the stadium, id like to see the palm trees removed and extend the seating right round, so you'd have an away end. But this is all up to money and crowd averages of course. Food is better than SFS too.

You can all dream of having painted seats and German style terraces, hell most of us do too. But most stadiums in Australia are Multi purpose, so it kind of rules out alot of it.
We all hope that the clubs eventually have there own pitches, with awesome terraces.

1. Fix the Pitch
2. Need to Install a Roof over the Northern End - Like at ME Stadium in Perth
3. Fix the Grounds Audio (so the Northern End General Admission Areas can hear it.
4. Get rid of the concrete barriers
5. Get some decent company to run the food
6. have a bar and food outlet on the northern concourse

Consider it to be a blessing in disguise. I would opt for...

3. Fix the Grounds Audio (so no one can hear it)
